I bought two of these trash cans - 10.5 gallon wide for the kitchen and 2.5 gallon narrow for the bathroom. I'm very happy with the look and feel of them. They appear to be a great value, esp. if you get them on sale - the price around Prime days fluctuates often. The larger can was $85 on the first Prime Day 7/11, yet I had purchased it for $42 on 7/8. Same for the smaller can - $46 on 7/12, I paid $23 on 7/8. They came very well packaged with thick styrofoam on top and bottom of the box and under the can lid where it meets the body of the can. It arrived USPS, and a big 'thump' I heard at delivery made me cringe, but there was no damage to the box or contents. Beyond price, tho, I needed a new trash can that didn't cause problems during warmer weather with gnats/flies. Most trash cans don't completely seal, but rather have an air gap of some sort around the lid that allows the smells to escape enough to attract these pests. This one closes over and around the inner bin, so fingers crossed, it's eliminated that problem. **Update** There is definitely significantly less smell than my previous swing lid can. But really strong smell (onions!) is still noticable, much less, and can eventually attract gnats. Because it's a step-open can, I shouldn't be cleaning off the lid from food hitting it as it goes in, like my previous can. Hopefully I'll only be dusting it occasionally! (For the larger can, it's not a pedal, but a hefty u-shaped bar.) The slow close shouldn't create a 'woosh' of smelly air wafting up, like my previous swinging lid can. **Update** Changing from swing lid to step-open lid, I thot I wouldn't like the inconvenience of step opening vs just tossing into a swing lid. But I put a strong magnet under the lid edge, and a peg-type strong magnet opposite it on the outside, so one finger can lift the lid and with the same hand toss something in. And unlike a swing lid, I can step and hold open the entire lid to scrap off a plate or pan. And NO food or fingerprints on the lid - it stays clean. With the addition of a magnet "handle", the step-open can is better. And this after decades of swing lid cans. I also no longer need a full size can taking up space, esp. since it takes us a week or more to fill it. I didn't want to lean down to a too short can, or worry about missing it because the opening was too small. The 10.5 gallon can is tall enough and the opening is large enough that it looks and feels like a full size can. It's taken some time to find the right can for what I needed - the 10.5 gallon definitely checks all the boxes. There were less improvements needed for the bathroom can, but the 2.5 gallon also checks all those boxes. Very happy with the cans. I'll update this review if there's more to share.

Wow, dog food containers of this size are crazy expensive. This trash can is a perfect alternative! I'm very happy with the purchase and so glad I didn't cave and buy the regular dog food containers. The lid stays up if moved slightly passed the full open position, making it easy to add or remove food. Also for changing a liner if used as a regular trash can. They look great, and you can't beat the price if using for a dog food container - I know as I tried and this one is perfect!

Never thought I would be writing a review for a garbage can, however, everyone needs one so I thought id share my input. This garbage can does everything you need. Comes with a hard shell aluminum casing for a plastic container that you can somewhat easily throw a garbage bag in. The foot peddle is great, opens the lid well, and makes it easy to throw something away when you don't have a free hand. Would recommend if you're looking for a great and easy garbage can to put in your house.

Manufacturing tolerances need to be tightened up. On the first trash can I ordered, the lid barely aligned with the body. If it had been any more skewed, it wouldn't have closed. Technically it worked, but it was the kind of thing that would have bothered me every single time I looked at it. To add insult to injury, the trash can went on sale right after it was delivered. Since I couldn't see any way of fixing the lid, I sent the original trash can back for a refund, then ordered another. This one suffers from the same problem, but to a far lesser extent. It's good enough. Been using it for several months now, and I'm happy with it. The pedal action works well, and the hard shell insert makes it easy to change bags. Final impression is positive. I just hoped for better quality control at this price point.

This trash can is an upgrade to an old plastic container. It looks good with the stainless steel fixtures in my kitchen and the foot pedal easily opens the lid leaving both hands free. There is an inner strong plastic container which can hold a disposable trash bag. The lid closes securely when you release the foot pedal.

It’s a great trash can if your bathroom has the space. I thought 5.3 Gallons was a bit smaller than this, but it works out. I can’t reuse retail plastic bags with it so that’s the only down side. The stepper is also hollow in the middle, which isn’t too big of a deal, but might be annoying for kids (small feet could probably step through or get stuck).

I got this trash can to replace my rectangular one because it was one of the only lidded cans that was in portrait orientation for lack of better words. It’s a trash can. It holds trash, so it’s fine, but one thing drives me nuts. Because of how the lid is, if the trash can is fewer than 2-3 inches away from the wall, the lid won’t fully open. If it’s closer, the bottom of the lid hits the wall, preventing it from opening, so now, I m constantly pulling the trash can away from the wall before I can open it.

As others have said, bottom of lid hits wall when opening. Our work around - block of wood or a brick on floor behind can, has worked well for a year! Bought first one a year ago, added second recently. Stickers on top indicate trash or recycling.
