The auto open/close works intermittently. The button to open the can and close the can does not always work. It’s a nice design but at this point I’m using it no differently than a manual trash can. The automation is not consistent.

The structure is flimsy and very easily dented. The "stainless steel" smudges when anything touches it so it rarely looks clean. It does work but is smaller than our other 13" trash can so less will fit in it.

Received it today and replaced the old one ( step open ) right away. Like : 1. The auto mode works after 4 type C batteries were put into the top part. The plastic lid opens when I put my hand over the sensor, and it closes after 5-6 seconds. 2. It has 3 ways to open : auto/press button/use finger . They all work. Dislike: When in the atuo mode, the lid will open and atuomatically close after 4-5 seconds no matter what. So if you have not finished putting trash in the trash can within its open time, the lid will hit your hand or anything in its way down. The lid is a light-way plastic and does not seem to be "crack-resistant" if it \ crashes with something. I have run a stop watch on it and the lid opens for 5.5~6.0 seconds before closes. IT does not run on motion sensor ( instead it runs on timer ). So watch your hand ! The four type C batteries have lasted two months before running out of juice. ( I opened closed it quite often) ... show more

The media could not be loaded. UPDATED REVIEW: After receiving a new lid from the seller (which came very quickly in the mail, I might add), the trash can is now working smoothly. It's perfect and just as I'd hoped. The sensor is quick, and the self-closing aspect is great. We love this trash can and appreciate how quickly the seller contacted us to resolve our issue. Overall, I would say we are very satisfied with our purchase. If you have any issues with your order, contact the seller and they are great about responding and making sure the product you purchased is as advertised. * * * OLD REVIEW: I was very disappointed to find, after purchasing brand new C-type batteries and putting them in the trash can correctly, following all requisite instructions, that the sensor does not work. The sensor is the whole reason I bought this trash can. If I wanted a trash can that required me to physically lift the top, I would have bought a $10 trash can from a department store. The "open" button doesn't even work. It opens about half of a centimeter and then just glitches and stays there. The "close" button works correctly, but that feature is useless if you have to open it with your hand. Overall, I would NOT recommend this product. Pay more for a more reputable brand. Don't waste your time or money on this one. ... show more
