I’ll give it this, it’s a clever design with their garbage bags and compactor handle and some engineer with no real world thinking probably thought this was a good idea. The trash compactor handle is easy to use to manually compact the trash to get more trash in the bag. However, that’s where the good ends and the bad user experience begins. The compactor “system” gets in the way when you try and take out a full bag and their bags rip very easily because of this. I tried switching to Glads Forceflex bags which are the same size as their bags but these bags handle themselves better against rips as I have used these bags in my old trash can. However, the “rubber grippers” that grips the bags in the trash can doesn’t grip on to other companies garbage bags well enough when compacting and when you go to compact the trash, the garbage bag slips out and gets stuck at the bottom of the garbage can and you then have to pull up the dislodged bag without dumping trash everywhere or ripping the bag which so far I have been unsuccessful in not ripping a single bag. We stopped using the compactor feature as it makes garbage bags too heavy and wide and they rip open from the weight of the trash inside and also rip when trying to take them out of the can because they didn’t leave enough space on the inside of the trash can for the bags to be able to be pulled out through the apparatus. Basically, this garbage can stops you from filling even their own bags fully anyways and completely misses the point of being a compactor. You basically have to take out the bags when they are about 75% full which is what non-compactor trash cans are already at. So this product makes no sense and doesn’t save you money on garbage bags at all and even limits you to having to get your trash bags shipped from them, locking you into giving them more money. It’s a dumb product that contradicts itself. Do yourself a favor, get a cheap trash can with a flip up lid and pedal like this and don’t worry about trying to get more space out of your trash bags. The messes this thing makes is far worse than losing a few dollars a year on buying a few more garbage bags per year. Their “carbon filter” doesn’t do anything either and just sits in a compartment on the inside of the lid which if you just change the bags at 75% full anyways then you don’t need a filter at all. Again dumb product trying to look and feel more premium than it actually is. Don’t give this company money for this thing so hopefully it doesn’t suck more people into buying it. ... show more

The Titan trash compactor works perfectly with the custom liners, not so much with standard kitchen garbage bags. I found that standard bags (I tried Husky) are made to stretch, which makes them less compatible with the compacting feature. The more trash is compacted, the more the bag stretches, thins, and tears. Standard bags also tend to stretch and tear around the mechanism. The custom liners are made of stronger plastic, and they are not stretchy. They maintain their size without stretching and tearing as trash is compacted. Bottom line: the Titan is a good product, with good design and good functionality with the custom liners. If you intend to use standard bags, get a standard can. ... show more

I am quite disappointed with this trash compactor. The charcoal odor packs are essentially useless at controlling even minor smells. I thoroughly rinse and clean all containers before disposal, yet residual odors from the compacted waste still linger in the unit. I’ve had to resort to wiping it down with a bleach-and-water solution after each use to keep things bearable. Beyond the odor issues, the $225 price point feels unjustified. The compaction mechanism requires significant physical effort to operate effectively. It struggles with basic items such as plastic milk jugs, glass containers, and most packaging materials unless they are pre-crushed or chopped into small pieces. Anything remotely sturdy or awkward in shape resists compression. Overall, the unit underperforms on its core promises and feels overpriced for what it actually delivers. I would not recommend it if you were a senior, or a petite lady. ... show more

Updating my review. We have been using it for several days. Worked well, bag began to come loose after it started to get heavy. I just ordered the Joseph compose container to put food items into so the garbage can will not smell and I can use one bag longer. Will see how this works. Will rdit this review later Updating the last review. Giving it 5 stars, works as described. Bags are staying in place. Taking trash out about once a week. Bags are sturdy and not ripping.. I am using the compost container which is working well. Now need to set up a compose outside and we should be recycling. all the way. ... show more

This compactor was not my favorite. I have a family of four boys and we go through a lot of trash. The idea was to have something that would help reduce our trips out. It’s been about the same. The bags slip and don’t stay in place making a mess. It is easy to push down but it just broke today after only a few months. For the price I was expecting something that would last and was sturdy. Hands down the dumbest purchase I have ever made . I've taken my time to evaluate it and waited at least six months to post a review, so I don't say this lightly: Don't buy this compactor. The form is nice enough, but the function is lacking. The foot pedal is... capricious. More often than not, it doesn't work properly. The lightweight plastic (and easily breakable) parts on the interior feel like an odd choice for an item designed to CRUSH things. It might as well be made of glass. I am not trying to compact granite here... Just ordinary recyclables. Paper, plastic, and the occasional soda can. No extraordinary use or treating it roughly -- it just sucks at its job. Bottom line. Okay, so it's a terrible compactor. But how is it just as a trash receptacle? Also terrible. The bags -- which are proprietary and can't just be picked up on your normal grocery run -- don't stay in place. A $200 trash can should be able to hold onto a bag. Yes, $200. Since prices can change, I should note that that's what I paid. At that price, a functional electric compactor would be a good buy, even if it didn't last as long as more expensive ones might. ... Except it's not electric. Oops. I was looking at this listing along with several others that were electric and can only assume I got confused at time of purchase. That was a huge mistake on my part. I can't fathom why anyone would include "Intelligent" in the name of an item that isn't Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth enabled when it's a word used so commonly in advertising for that purpose, but that's an issue for another day. Despite the item name, there is nothing intelligent about this -- unless you're the seller, I guess. Ultimately, my poor decision isn't the seller's fault. It's my responsibility to pay attention to the details. So I gave it a chance and have regretted the purchase. I have since read some more of the positive reviews and cannot understand how we can possibly be reviewing the same product. Not a viable compactor, nor even a trash can. What, then, is the point of this thing? I am still considering that. Maybe it can be a planter? It's too big to be a paperweight, and I refuse to send it to landfill. Time will tell.
