Lid no longer functional

I love it, although I've had it for 2 years now and a few months ago the lifting mechanism snapped in half, it's a little plastic piece from the gear to the lid. Sent email to company to see if they have replacement lids.

we got this JAN2026, so far it works fine, i wave my hand 4inches from the cover and it opens each time, never an issue., would recommend I’ve only changes the batteries once. However, i would not recommend if this trifecta happens at ur bathroom: The sun going down and sun rays go thru your window straight into the bin + your toilet roll is over the bin and three or more squares are hanging down + then AC kicks in and starts making the TP wave. I thought this was funny to share.

Loved this for the 1st year.

I'll leave my original 4-star review below, however, a year later it no longer opens. It tries to open, does the normal blue light signal and you can hear it try to open but it's like it doesn't have enough power to open the lid. I changed the batteries hoping that was the issue but nope it still doesn't work. For about $40 I would expect it to have a much longer life expectancy than a year. Ironically, the return window ended Aug 22, 2023, and it broke down LITERALLY a year to the day after that. The only negative I have to say about this is that it is smaller than I expected. But for a bathroom, it will be fine. I love that I no longer have to step on a pedal to open the can (which never works the way you expect it to). I love that once you place the bag in and put the lid on, it does a kind of suction to pull the bag to the sides and bottom of the can. I found that a normal grocery store type bag is perfect and it still suctions to the sides. My teen loves it and getting her to clean up her bathroom messes has become much easier as she thinks it's fun to have it open and close for her (even playing "open sesame" with it). I know some of the reviews on it said that it broke down pretty quickly but I got it during Prime days so the cost was almost half the usual price and I figured there would be no better time to buy it. If it does break down soon I will come back and update. As of right now though (a lil over a month later) it is well worth the money I put out for it.

Not long lasting

Didn’t last very long. Hubby tried to fix it several times. Replaced it once and I got one for my bathroom. 2 in the trash hope mine last another year at least. I love the way it keeps odors away and closes automatically. Perfect size for bathroom but Not very quiet.

Great auto closing trash can but hinges break

I love this trash can & would give it 5 stars except that the plastic hinges on the lid keep breaking. I have ordered two already and need to order again to replace the second one with a broken hinge. I think it might be a good idea if these plastic hinges were replaced with metal hinges. Otherwise, the trash can has been ideal. It fits in a narrow space between vanity & commode, and it's nice to have a lid that closes in the bathroom.

Not working well after 18 months-March 2025 to Sep 26

Changed my mind about 5 stars. It’s now 3 star rated because after 18 months the lid decided to rattle, click and pop loudly. We have two of these and one is working just fine. Nothing different about changing bags or batteries between the two. I ordered another brand and I will take this one apart to see what’s causing the noise. More than likely, it appears, one side of the lid broke or came apart internally—at least that is what it sounds like.
