The D5 Cookware Collection is made using a patented 5-ply construction that takes your cooking to the next level. is made with our patented process that bonds 3 layers of stainless steel with 2 layers of aluminum. The additional layers distribute heat more evenly and slowly, eliminating hotspots and making every bite identically delicious. This comprehensive cookware set includes a 1.5 and 3-quart saucepan with lid for sauces, a versatile 3-quart Saute Pan, a large, do-it-all 8-quart stockpot; and a 5.5-quart Dutch Oven with corresponding lids. We moved into a new house, and, lo&behold, it had an induction cook top. So, the old aluminum-bottom Farberware wasn't gonna cut it. I'd been wanting some real cookware anyway--our old set was from our 50-yrs-ago wedding presents, had served us well, but had some issues, chiefly cracking handles. You'd think you could get replacements, but not so. But I digress. These All-clad pans are the bomb. I don't care that much about their looks, but they look great. And they work better than any pots and pans I've ever owned. Just fabulous. Tight lids. Solid handles. Perfect balance. The no-drip edge really doesn't drip. And the heat distribution---wow, it's really outstanding. I'm used to my old cast iron pans, which are pretty great, but still have some hot spots here and there. Not these All-clads, they're about perfect. Yes, they're expensive. But in this case you really do get what you pay for. I'm sure there are good options for less. But I'll remember those terrible Farberware handles, and their ugly warped bottoms, for the rest of my life, and, I already can't remember how much I paid for the All-clads. I couldn't be happier with them. Incidentally, if you're considering induction--quit considering and take the plunge. I've been a gas cooktop guy all my life, and have hated every electric stove I've ever used. But induction is best of both worlds. You get instant heat, but easy clean. I can put a quart of water on one of these induction burners and it's boiling in a couple minutes. My massive cast iron egg pan is ready to go in the time it takes to get the eggs out. I often boil a little water on the stove to wash a dish or two, coz it's faster than waiting for the hot water at the tap. Good thing the smooth glass top is easy to clean, coz it's super easy to have a boilover. The heat comes on so fast and so hot; it takes some getting used to. The 10 piece set All Clad 5D was delivered today -- 4 days early. I followed the tracking so I was waiting to receive it. Capital Cookware sold as Used Like New. Packaged beautifully in a heavy duty cardboard box. The box contained an extra top protector piece so the customer would not do damage when slicing open the box. Each piece was separated with plastic bags, bubble wrap and additional cardboard. All were clean and in perfect condition. All 10 pieces were there. The lid for the 3 quart fry pan does fit the 8 inch fry pan. The 10 inch fry pan does not include a lid but one from my Zwilling Henckles set seems to be a close match. This is an awesome set. Amazon's Black Friday sale price was the cheapest I found anywhere. The pans have heft and are built to last. The long skinny handles could use improvement in comfort. They don't get hot while on the stove, nor do the small hold handles. The lid handles do however get hot so be careful. Cleaning is easy as long as you soak them long enough. 3 parts water 1 part vinegar in the pan covering the stain right up to boil then cut off and let cool, will remove the cloudy or rainbow stains that these will get from minerals in food and water. The polished ones will show any and all scratches, as will any of the lids. I went with the brushed ones for this reason. The green scrubby pads will scratch these if you scrub hard, as will metal utensils. Use in the dishwasher at your own risk or soak and clean out without worry of harsh detergents. This is a nice set that will last a long time with proper care. ... show more

    • Educate yourself on D5 and you’re all good

I was back and forth on whether to spend so much on a set bc of the few reviews claiming these turned colors and food was impossible to unstick. I am notorious for loving to cook on high. If I’m cooking, I’m hungry..no time to wait! Anyway, being an adult and all I regulated myself with these and followed directions. Preheat the pan on low (I have gas) for a couple minutes, preheat oil for another minute or two on low, then I’m all set to add whatever and cook. No issues searing, cooking eggs, etc. Biggest difference I’ve noticed was cooking steak strips for a stir fry. Usually I get halfway through and they start sticking and burning NO MATTER WHAT with my old pans. Zero issues with these. Very small amount of Oil stayed useable the entire 20 min it took to cook 1.25 lbs of top sirloin strips! I always let them cook on the stove and soak for a couple minutes if any food does happen to stick….dishwasher safe. Maybe a little mid colored but that’s what happens to steel?! My sink is stainless and I use the Barkeepers to restore shine, I’m sure that will work on these too. That being said there’s discoloration in the inside, not outside. I don’t mind my pans not looking absolutely pristine. They’re still shiny and beautiful just not *perfect*. Hands down would recommend! ... show more

My wife noticed how much these improved cooking due to better heat control and more even cooking. The larger skillet is her favorite and she uses it for everything. She said she wished she knew about these years ago as they are worlds better than the store bought sets she's had for so long.

Love the pots/ skillets a bit less -- two concerns: the skillet handles are a bit long and the sides of the skillets curve up rather than rising steeply as in cast iron skillets, making splashes of liquid/grease out of the skillet more likely; these are problematic on the glass cook top of an induction range. ... show more
