I never write bad reviews on sellers - but this is going to be my exception. I received my package, and it was obviously opened before, and yet, sold as new. As I had my brother in town and he was going to help me put it up before he left to go back home, I was going to deal with the open box. However, when I did open the box it was obvious that the awning had been partially put together by someone else and then taken partially apart to return, and there were also hardware pieces missing. We were able to 'make do' with hardware I had on hand, however I did contact the seller to get couple of the missing hardware pieces that seem rather unique to the awning, because I could get them in after the awning was installed. I emailed 3 times and called 3 times (calling is a tale all unto its own - you get in this circular cue and no one ever answers) - all without any response. Because of the incredibly bad instructions, the overall difficulty putting this together was ridiculous. With good instructions the time to put this together would have been cut in half. I have worked on Porsche engines, so it isn't like I haven't dealt with difficult build projects before. One star is actually too kind for the experience I have had with this product and the seller. Update - Aleko has finally gotten in touch with me - and seem to just blow this off - they said that the awning was probably damaged in transit - hardly true, the little plastic bags that held the hardware were cut open - that doesn't happen when boxes are damaged in shipping. Ok first, the shipping is crazy expensive, but it was worth it. The awning got here in about 4 days. Nothing was damaged or missing from shipping. The boxes contained all the parts and pieces it should have had. My awning is 12'x10' brown fabric. Make sure you check your measurements. The frame is actually only 11'5" wide and extends to 9'5". The brackets pull the awning out about an inch to an inch and a half from the wall, so be aware it doesn't sit flush to the wall. In my case, this was to my advantage, as I had two things going down the side of the house that were in the way. Neither was more than an inch, so the brackets pulled the frame far enough out that it wasn't an issue during mounting. Based on reviews, and watching an installation video from the company on YouTube, I decided this was too much for us to install ourselves and to contract it out. I found a guy to do it who used to install awnings for a living before becoming a handyman, so his company sent him to do the install. One man did it by himself in 5 hours, except I had to help mount it because there was no way he was doing that alone. He knew his stuff and worked hard to do it well. I wanted to point this out, as many of the reviews here talk about things going wrong during the installation. Hire a professional to do it right. That's my recommendation. Install went flawlessly. As stated, all parts and pieces were present. The awning is beautiful, sturdy, and appears well made. The retractable feature works really well, the lights are extremely bright, and the remote control ability is perfect. I can't possibly be happier with this awning. As the installer said when he finished... this looks like an awesome bar patio now! He went on all day about how he was getting one for himself. ... show more

    • You ll need good assembly skills and patience.
The unit is study and made well. The assembly took hours and was difficult. Nearly everything had to be put together. It takes some muscle and patience. The assembly directions were not entirely clear. Some components were hard to make out and sometimes resulted in assembling something backwards or upside down. It was frustrating. The anchor bolts provided were only for concrete so I had to find my own anchors. The canvas didn t even have the spline installed so it took two people and lots of frustration to thread it through. Once assembled you need two strong people to lift it onto the brackets. Once installed it operates as it should. ... show more

Instructions were pitiful. Quality of Materials is poor. Finally got installed, It worked fine manually extending and retracting but when using the remote control it extended but when it tried to retract the brackets snapped due to poor manufacturing processes. We are four days past the return window because awning was so heavy we had to wait for additional help. ... show more

The spline for attaching the awning to the roller was wrong size. Spline too small and fabric pulled right through slot. Amazon's solution, send the entire awning back for a refund. Hello, is anyone home at Amazon ? That part of installation happens after 70% of assembly. Sent CS at Aleko an email explaining the issue. 10 days later NO RESPONSE. Today received a cheerful email from Aleko thanking me for reaching out to them and asking me to review the awning. No mention of the issue of course. A $12 common part, but no one is offering reimbursement. The awning itself is nice for the price. The assembly instructions are worthless. No identification of hardware. No mention of fine tuning adjustments that are mandatory if you plan to use the awning. etc. You would be better served to dump all of the parts in a bucket and figure it out for yourself. Amazon has never steered me wrong with most of my purchases....I recommend steer a hard left on this product. The box came damaged, but all pieces were in tact. The instructions for the awning might as well been color by number. We spent several hours taking the awning apart and finally getting the device properly set up. Forget about installation instructions to set up to your house. No instructions, none, nil, zilch, zero!! I finally called in an installation team to put the device up on my house. Within an hour the brackets snapped, the awning to the ground and pieces scattered around....looked like my 5 year old with Legos. Customer Service....good luck, I was told "to contact Amazon. " I imagine I am probably the one lucky one who got just a bad product, but man...if a black cat jumped out of the box..the experience would of been perfect!! Hard pass on this piece. ... show more
