We had a couple of salesmen from the Name brand awnings come to our home to pitch their awnings. The idea of paying several thousand $$$ for an awning just didn't set well with us. being retired we thought, hey we have time, we can put this together right? Well, just as I had read in the other reviews, the instructions were written by someone not from our country who didn't have a full grasp of the English language!!! It took the better part of the day to assemble (we are 70 & 71) but when it came time to hoist it up into the brackets our son and daughter in law came to our rescue and ws a treamendous help. Our son had to make a couple corrections for our mis-assembly but when he left, it was installed and works great. I am glad we decided to stress ourselves out and save about $6000 We have used it a couple of times and I can see that having it up on our upper deck it gets a lot of wind from the lake, we plan to get a couple sticks of PC pipe and reinforce the outside edge so it stays in place better. If you decide to DIY make sure you have someone strong and mechanically inclined to install it.

My deck gets very hot in the summer time, so, for years, I thought about an awning. When I saw all of the options for the Aleko Motorized awning, I was sold. I selected a 10' x 8' motorized awning in Gray. It arrived faster than expected and in perfect condition. All of the parts were there and perfectly packaged. Prior to purchasing, I read the reviews which mentioned that the instructions were bad. I didn't pay much attention to it. BUT those comments were accurate. First, there was NO INSTRUCTION MANUAL, in the box. I got mine by calling Aleko support who gave me a link to a PDF Manual. They also told me to watch the online installation videos. Quite frankly, neither helped. I'm an experienced do-it-yourselfer (thankfully), but I found the manual and the videos really lacking. I assembled and mounted the unit and, as soon as it was up and I started to deploy and retract it, I knew it was wrong. I had to take it down, fix the assembly and re-hang it. It was frustrating. That said, now that it's installed and working properly, I am very pleased with the quality and functionality. I think the material used for the awning will last a long time (and, with what I know now, I think it will be easy to replace it, if it's ever necessary. So, overall, I'm pleased with the purchase. If they'd spend just a little time fixing the instructions and create some clear videos, this could easily get to 4 or 5 stars.

Great product for the price! Please disregard all the bad reviews in regards to assembly being a nightmare on this. Obviously this type of install requires a bit of know how so if you are not that handy I would suggest hiring an installer. In previous reviews I see posting of their education and achievements and they still had issues with this install. Obviously those reviews have other underlying issues, Lol!! Yes the instructions could be better but everything went with ease during the install. I would have given it 5 stars but the fabric could be better. Not sure how long itโs going to last in the Arizona sun so I will definitely be buying a spare replacement set. All in all I am impressed and am excited to have this installed in my back yard!

Contractor. I've put up maybe a dozen awnings, all were pre assembled. This one assembled easily, the motor was easy to figure out, plenty of adjustment, fabric seems heavy duty. I suggest you be familiar with awnings before attempt to assemble one yourself. Most reviews complaining of 'poor directions' were probably just unfamiliar with awnings. This was easy. I will definitely be a return customer.

The Aleko installation video is horrible!! They don't say a word & it runs in warp speed. You can't follow any of it. The written instructions were ok but lots of details missing. The manual showed the motor on the left side but ours came with it installed on the right. We were told by tech support it could be on either side...however...the remote would have to operate in the opposite direction (up is down, down is up) and the slot for the hand crank is attached to it so having it on the left meant the slot was upside down and therefore couldn't use it. We had to put the motor back on the right. The bolts used to put into the brackets once the bar is attached were too big & we couldn't get them in...had to buy smaller ones. Remote didn't work so will have to call & get a new one. Don't remove the safety sleeves from the arms until you've locked them into the arm bars...very important! The caps used at the end of the front bar & plastic & are supposed to screw in but there's nothing to screw them into...we're going to glue them on. Quality of the product is nice & James in tech support is fabulous.
