Excellent sweeper/bagger
Style: 52" Tow-Behind Lawn Sweeper
DELIVERY: The first impression of any ordered product is the packaging. This sweeper box weighed 90 pounds and all the items were packed loosely so that when it was lifted and moved everything rattled. Fortunately, everything arrived undamaged but if the heavy box had been dropped it could have been a big problem. ASSEMBLY: The instructions were easy to understand and the tool list was adequate but I'd recommend similar size sockets in addition to the wrenches. The illustrations in the instructions did not always match the words so use the written instructions as they were correct. I completed it by myself in about 2 hours but a helper would certainly be beneficial with the bagger frame. I also attached the de-thatcher rail which was easy but time consuming attaching all the tines. If you use the de-thatcher there is a step to place the transport hook on the existing sweeper hitch brackets AFTER you've already assembled the 4 bolts and hitch together. I would recommend when you get to Figure 3 assembling the sweeper hitch brackets that you leave ALL the bolts loose if you plan to add the de-thatcher. USE: The sweeper works very well as I was able to get grass clippings off the driveway which was great. I have a 52" zero turn mower that works well to drag this sweeper around almost 1/2 acre of yard. Going around the house and trees with lots of obstacles it was still easy to maneuver. The sweeper works great but with a full bag of grass I could not use the rope to dump the bag as it was too heavy. I had to unload part by hand prior to dumping. So maybe it works too well! With only leaves I'm sure it will be easy enough to lift. The frame seems well constructed but the bag material seems like it will not last. The unit folds up and it stores easily in a small shed. Both products advertise a 3 year warranty. SERVICE: I did have one rather unexpected problem. After only the second use the Hitch Pin (Cotter pin) either worked its way loose or got snagged and removed from the hitch pin. This caused the hitch pin to come out of the hitch and the entire unit to tumble end over end. The hardware was lost and the upper hopper frame bar was bent. I had everything assembled properly (confirmed by tech support) and was going the proper speed. When I called customer support I was immediately connected to a person (Sandy) who was very polite, professional and knowledgeable about the products. She quickly handled my problem by recording the missing/damaged part numbers and initiated the order for the parts. You never expect problems with brand new items but when you do it’s nice to know the company stands by its product and honors the warranty.

Nice Product Fair Price *UPDATE*
Style: 52" Tow-Behind Lawn Sweeper
Works really well! Assembly is not hard but takes some time. Arrange all parts on flat surface with like parts grouped together. Go slow follow instructions and don't tighten until the end. You need sockets and ratchet in addition to wrenches. Ours came with all the parts with not even one left over. The snap ends don't reach but maybe will in time and with warmer weather. Get the hitch height and hook up to mower/tractor correct and make wheel adjustments erring on side of brushes too high and then adjust lower. On first use be sure the bag is not dragging. The hitch works fine as outlined in instructions but there are some tweaks that may work depending on the height of your tractor/mower receiver. Don't pull it too fast ..3MPHish. This is a consumer grade product. If you need extra heavy duty commercial grade you will need more money and a different product. Don't expect the bag to last forever. If you get a few seasons out of the bag you may need a replacement. The parts availability network looks positive. Very happy to have found this. I have had the Agri-fab dump cart for several years and it is a great product as well. UPDATE: Has worked flawlessly for over two years. Removed removed wheels to lubricate and very little wear was noticed. Great product! Super time saver!!

This 52" is awesome. It has some issues that can be fixed but it sweeps well!
Style: 52" Tow-Behind Lawn Sweeper
I have a big yard, several acres with lots of trees and a couple of gravel driveways. We have several large hardwood trees and this past winter was cold for the gulf coast area and I have more leaves than I've ever seen. I have some parking areas under a few big live oaks that is mostly sand and fine gravel and it gets covered in leaves constantly. I have a few really nice leaf blowers I used to use to blow the leaves into piles and either burn them or haul them away, it's a lot of manual work. I checked out the various brands of lawn sweepers and decided to go with Agri Fab 52" sweeper. It wasn't difficult to assemble. Took and hour or so. I don't like the default hitch tongue though. I understand why it is that way, so it can support various heights of tractor plates. They include small spacers to use above or below the tongue to get the right height... It had a lot of slop in it and every time you pull the pin to unhitch you have to grab both spacers and save them and the cotter pin. I flipped the plate over on the sweeper so there's about 5mm of gap between the top and bottom, instead of an inch and a half. That allows me to slide the hitch arm on my quad right between the split tongue on the sweeper and I use a magnetic John Deere pin, it takes two seconds to unhitch now with no slop in the connection. The sweeper itself it brilliant! The 6 brushes are properly geared for this unit, slow like 2mph still sweeps well, about 5-6mph seemed the sweet spot for mine. I have no problem with the way the brush system is made. Having said that, I do have a few issues that should be addressed by the factory. The default tongue setup which I already mentioned. The sweeper catch bag gets full in a hurry and it can be very heavy. Too heavy to stay on my quad and pull the included rope.. No way! You have to dismount, and firmly grab the top and bottom of the catch bin and rotate it to empty the bin. If you have the brush set too low and go across exposed gravel or dirt you can quickly add too much weight to the bin to lift with one man. I made that mistake sweeping the hard sand/hard dirt area under a giant live oak and it looked like it was vacuumed. took all the loose gravel, small rocks and dirt and dumps it into the bin. I couldn't empty it by myself, wife couldn't help. I had to wait on my brother. And to add to that problem, If the bin gets too heavy it will drag the ground and it will grind the bottom liner down in no time. I added an S hook to the provided dump rope so I could latch it to my quad. Even if it's full and too heavy the rope is tight to prevent the rear of the bag from dragging the ground. That alone fixes that problem. There seems to be too much flex in the unit alone. However it is a problem when backing up and having to turn either way as the rope is already tight and will try to get tighter as the sweeper is angled when in reverse. If you only go straight back in reverse, the rope tension isn't a problem. I suppose maybe I should dump the sweeper with only a half a load of leaves in it to make it easier to empty and cause less stress on the unit itself. Seems silly not to fill it up though, that's why I bought it, because it's a large capacity catch bin! I'm considering cutting out most of the bottom of the bin and replace with 1/2" square wire screens like you see in rabbit cages. This would allow me to effectively sweep the non grass parking and driveway areas with sand, gravel and rocks for leaves and twigs and it would let most of the dirt, sand and gravel fall right through the bottom. Overall, I doubt you'll find a better lawn sweeper for the same price. Yea, it's got issues but I'll bet all the others have similar or even more issues.

Sturdy, well constructed, a few corners cut
Style: 52" Tow-Behind Lawn Sweeper
I typically rake 3 acres of yard and pasture each mowing season. Primarily use the grass as garden mulch, tossing additional onto a large compost pile each year. This unit arrived at 9am one morning and was assembled in roughly 4 hours after I meticulously followed the directions in the assembly manual. All parts were included. I re-used the hitch mechanism which I removed from the 20 yr old Craftsmen yard rake, which this unit is replacing. The two simple plates included with this unit - makes for an extremely wobbly or too tight fitting cluster****. That is poorly engineered. Some of the bolts included in this assembly look to be too small diameter to last very long, but we'll see. Several of them were either barely long enough or much too long (like the two bolts used to affix the hand adjustable height lever on the front/right side of the machine. Both of those bolts would have scraped the front left inside tire at a few settings. I ground about 3/8th's of an inche of thread off each bolt and the clearance is much better now. Another nit-picky engineering nuisance. Their hitch solution is really poorly thought out, if I had not had a better solution readily available, I would have been quite upset. However, when it is properly leveled behind a powerful garden tractor, it will pick up 80 of wet cut grass clippings as noted in the photo above. That grass had been cut 3 days prior to this machine arriving and had been rained on for 2 of those days. I'm confident this machine will shine, picking up drier grass and leaves. Will it last 20 years like the unit it is replacing? Check with me in 2030 for an update.

The hopper fabric is cheap flimsy plastic. It ripped the first time I used it!
Style: 52" Tow-Behind Lawn Sweeper
I order the Agri-Fab Lawn Sweeper because it has high ratings for picking up grass and leaves. However, I returned it the same day I assembled it because the hopper (the grass collecting bag) ripped within 30 minutes of using it! When I first opened the parts box, I was surprised that the hopper is made from very thin plastic, with no reinforcement on the edges or seams. The assembly directions are minimal, and if I hadn't assembled a lawn sweeper in the past, I would have had a difficult time figuring out the parts and the steps. I had to purchase a 1/4" metal drill bit to open the holes in the upper and lower hopper frame parts because they didn't align for the clevis pin to go through. The metal frame of the Agri-Fab Lawn Sweeper seems very sturdy, but the hopper bag is a piece of junk. I called the Agri-Fab company to see if they made a more durable hopper bag, and they don't! Don't waste your time with this lawn sweeper. I am returning it to Amazon and have to take the whole thing apart to get the pieces back in the box!

It Works on Pinecones!
Style: 52" Tow-Behind Lawn Sweeper
We have several massive white pine trees that drop pine cones once every 3 seasons. This year was especially awful as it had been so wet that the trees dropped 10s, may 100s of thousands of pinecones. That was the primary reason I bought this particular unit over others (it being rated highly for pinecones) and it hasn't disappointed. It sounds like a popcorn machine as the pinecones are shot into the hopper and it won't miss any unless they are really pressed into the ground (and even those you can usually get if you pass in a different direction). We keep our lawn height fairly high as we don't have irrigation, and that doesn't seem to slow the sweeper down at all. Beyond pinecones, this works great at everything else - leaves, grass clippings, sticks and twigs (we will see about acorns as I believe that will be next year). Just beware that the contents can get very heavy which will require some effort to pivot dump feature. This unit is especially ideal if you have loose leaf pick up, as you can just keep dumping as you go (I never get off the tractor). If you have to bag or barrel, you're still stuck filling those yourself, but still a way easier proposition. All in all, this is my second favorite invention behind the snow blower.

Glad I got it but short lived
Style: 52" Tow-Behind Lawn Sweeper
Update review - The tires could not withstand the use and gave out on it after a season and a half. Please consider this when purchasing. I used it for a total of 10 total months across 2 years- so that is hooking it up about 20 times. The net and frame is good, it was the tires or frame by tires that bent making it drag on ground rather than roll. I contemplated getting one of these due to price, versus my need for it. I considered the time I spent raking and picking up, as well as paying for bags, that I believe it will pay for itself eventually. After putting it together (took me about 4 hours), I was immediately impressed with its performance, and glad I decided to get one. The experience of attaching it to the mower and then easily dumping collection in compost pile saved a lot of time. The only downside, thus far, is when tiny bird-nest type sticks get caught in a wheel, the wheel stops turning until removed. By the time it is noticed, sometimes the stick is wound around wheel a few times. Despite that, it saves a lot of time, and gives yard 52" stripes after collecting- which look great when completed.

Great For Large Areas
Style: 52" Tow-Behind Lawn Sweeper
I purchased the Agra-Fab lawn and garden sweeper and it arrived two days ago. (070122) I took advantage of a $50.00 savings as it was indicated that the box was damaged and the product was less than free of nicks and scratches. But all the parts were present. It took a few hours to assemble (I am not as fast at these things as I used to be) and I put one part in upside down which held me back a bit. The instructions indicate that three wrenches are needed. An adjustable crescent wrench (spanner) and even perhaps a ratchet driver with a few sockets are recommended to tighten bolts without them spinning free. There are snap buttons meant to secure the front part of the bag to the base but they do not reach around. I just tucked them under a support rod. The worst part of the assembly is the hitch design. If your tractor or ATV tow bar is a specific height from the ground, the use of 2 free roaming spacers are required (Supplied). The hitch pin goes through the connector, through the two spacers and to the bottom of the towing device and secured with a cotter pin. The spacers are easy to misplace and can roll away if not watching. Should be a better method for keeping the sweeper secure AND level. There was a small dent in mine but, as I say, I knew that there could be some damage, It does not effect performance. Speaking of which... This unit is a champ. I have 1.5 acres, much of which is grassland that needs to be kept trimmed. The 52" model does an excellent job of sweeping up grass and debris. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone with a lawn tractor. Plus, when my wife looks at the way it picks up grass and says, "That's amazing"!, I know I have hit paydirt.
