I have a small 18' above-ground salt water pool, and although it came with test strips, they were USELESS. So I was told test strips for salt pools are not accurate, but after reading the reviews, I figured I would give it a try. I had other devices to test my water but I wanted something quick and easy to use to give me a "feel" of where my water readings were. These actually did rather well although there were a few readings off that could have been better but it did help me maintain the levels across the pool a bit easier. Simple dip for a couple seconds and wait a bit for the strips to turn. Match it up with the bottle and run from there. It beats chemicals and lots of tools but same time it doesn't exactly replace those items either for accuracy. Would I buy them again? Yes!

My water quality was HORRENDOUS, and I have two kids that wouldn't take time out of the pool to let me work on it. Not only that but they would invite their 4 friends to swim in it as well...not good. By the time they were done it looked like someone had took a crap in the pool. Yes, it was that disgusting! I went off on them and made them give me 2 days to get the water at a reasonable level. I shocked the pool, used various chemicals, and used these test strips to see how my work was progressing. I was, and still am baffled, that my chlorine levels barely fluctuate no matter what I do. I'm beginning to believe that this particular reading on these strips is faulty because my water looks almost, ALMOST perfect. I still have a slight cloud issue with the water which I can't say is because of the chlorine readings or if I just need to add some clarifier since 5 out of 7 readings are okay; all readings EXCEPT the chlorine and free chlorine are within tolerance. I'm also puzzled about when to read the strip: right after dipping it in the water, or waiting for a few seconds (up to a minute) to let them level out, because I have noticed a slight difference depending on how long I let the strips sit. I would say to use these strips as a general guideline to test your water chemical levels, but don't think that they're written in stone. Also, let the chemicals added mix a few hours, maybe even overnight, before adding additional chemicals to change the properties, then test again and see how much they changed. You can see the difference 24 hours made to my pool water in the longer video. I'm definitely no pool water expert, this is my first pool where I've had to use a pump and keep the water chemicals balanced, so it's been a trial and error, learning experience for me as well. I have purchased this multiple times. For the most part I assumed it was accurate. At the moment I'm getting very high Total Chlorine numbers. I have purposely not added to my chlorine for 56 hours. In that time - while the pool bakes in the sun with filter running - there has be zero change in the test results. I just find that suspicious. In addition, and this has been a constant with this product, the test pads come loose often and almost never have a very clear color. Often faded on the edges.

I tried the strips to try and get a handle on my pool. I have invested about 50-75$ on two separate water kits with the chemical drops add 3 drops swirl, add 5 drops swirl. Seems every time I needed new Chema for my test tubes they were out or I picked the wrong ones. Chemical testing was a pain in The rear. My pool was suffering and so was I. I bought one bottle of strips and wow. I was impressed from the start. Dip a strip for two seconds in the pool. Wait 30 seconds and read seven different results. End of test easy to see what was needed. Raise the alkalinity, adjust the ph, adjust the hardness and the chlorine. I played with the strips for a few days testing my pool about two or three times a day as I made adjustments. I tested the water from my faucet. The water for my garden etc. In two days my pool way cleaner than ever and I knew exactly what was in the water and how it would effect my family and my pets. Sold! And happy. I use a strip every other day or so and never have to worry about my pool. No more test kits. Just two minutes a day and I’m done. I bought another bottle immediately because even though they come in an 100 count bottle I knew in a month or so I would need more. The shelf life is long and the easy is unbelievable. Now I have what I need for the whole year and I know where to go when I need more test strips. I have also compared strips to my chem test kits and the results are the same but much easier to read with the strips compared to trying to compare the color changes in the test tubes. Great product makes my life easier. I’ll never go back. The instructions on the bottle instruct user to test weekly, I test twice weekly at least, small adjustments are easy and testing is a breeze. My pool thanks you. And I thank you for making my life easier.
