  • Must have
If you have an above ground pool and live in an area where the nights can still get chilly, then this is for you. It helps to quickly warm the water to a nice temperature and as a bonus, the water stays clean. It is easy to remove and put back on after a wonderful day in the water. • Extra Heavy Duty Pool Solar Cover (Best I've seen )
This pool Solar cover came quickly and was well packaged. Installed on Above ground pool (15 Ft) Warmed up pool almost 10 degrees in one day. Probably due to ending evaporation from pool. Item is a bit oversized and will need trimmed to fit exactly. Hoping this cover last more than 2 years in Las Vegas Sun and harsh environment. I have had this pool 19 years with several liners and pool covers, Also use winter cover and remove this solar cover and store during winter. Covers Feels like quality but, we will see after summer. ... show more

This product is so awesome! I set up our Best Way Fast Set Pool and put this cover on. The water stayed SO clean, and cool despite having very high warm temps in our area. Highly, highly recommend. Easy to use and does the job it should.

  • Can be managed with one person only
Why did you pick this product vs others?: This makes a difference in the temperature of the water. It’s fairly easy to put on and take off.

  • It Depends!
Size: 10 Ft
My hot tub is just a walled off portion of the in-ground pool. As you can see, I only ordered a cover large enough to cover the spa hoping that we could begin using it a little earlier in the season and save some money on heating costs. The first thing that I found out is that you need bright direct sun to get the solar heating effect. Partly cloudy or overcast days will not do. The pool/spa pump had been off for more than 12 hours when I measured the water temperatures on a hot afternoon in the low 90’s. At a 3” depth the pool water was 88 degrees, and at about 24” deep the temp was 85 degrees. Lifting up the solar cover and measuring the spa temps revealed the following: 108 degrees at 1/2 inch depth, 102 degrees at 2”, 90 degrees at 5”, and 84 degrees at 24”. While observing the temps on a different thermometer, the one which reads on the wall mount control panel, I started up the spa (pump.) This mixed the water within the spa and also mixed it some with the pool water by spilling over the separating wall. Initially the spa temp read 89 degrees, but it less then one minute it fell to 86 degrees. The pool also measured 86 degrees. So here are my conclusions: You need bright sun for the solar heating effect. It does a good job of heating up the top 6” of water, but you need to keep turning over the surface of the water so that the heat is spread throughout. If you only cover the spa area and that water mixes with the much larger pool water like mine did, it has no discernible effect. In addition, once the spa water is mixed with itself, that top 6” of hot water mixes with the bottom 3-4 feet of cold water thus making the heating effect negligible. Even if there was no mixing of the spa and pool waters, I wonder if the bubbling induced air pockets forming beneath the pool cover from the pump action may have had a detrimental effect on the spa heating. I think that it would have done fairly well if I had purchased a cover large enough to cover the entire pool and spa area and kept the pump running. If you have a free standing spa, I think it may be effective for solar heating if the water is constantly being turned over. I assume that it would also help hold in the heat of the water, if you put on the cover after the water has been heated and you are through using it. I think that in many cases it will be more trouble than it is worth to get several degrees of increased temperature if you have an optimal set up for it. In my suboptimal situation, it really doesn’t provide any benefit. It probably works well for preventing water evaporation and maintaining chlorine levels if the entire surface is covered, but I did not test for that. ... show more
