Have an English proficient person compose the assembly instructions. 3. Improve the last segment of the instructions for the canopy from Step 6 and beyond. The media could not be loaded. It's only been up for a week, but so far it's done a great job. It's sturdy, operates smoothly, and has nice fabric. I *highly* recommend following along with the installation video provided on this amazon page since the printed instructions are much less clear. Took me about an hour and a half to fully assemble and mount. Please note that they include the necessary hardware for installing on masonry, but we had to pause mid-installation to go get bolts for installing on wood.

had a little trouble with installation we had to get better screws to hold to outside or would have fallen, Can’t keep open during rain or it will get too heavy. which kind of sucks but it’s nice when sun is out. We got it for back porch as there is no covering and we smoke outside not in house and it’s horrible will the sun beating on you back here so it’s helped a lot with that but the rain is still a problem.

One of the first Amazon purchases in all these 20 years where it really got me. Putting this together was tedious but where it really got me was the dimensions. In the photos it clearly showed a height of 59.8". I couldn't fit this in a patio about 7ft tall. While the product seems to be of reasonably good quality. I just have to return.

Update: I revised the review as I have found a work-around to mounting on wooden wall. I installed a length of 2" x 8" x 10' cut to 103" long. Screwed the 2 x 8 into the studs, then installed the mounting brackets on the 2 x 8. Now I'm able to retract the awning completely. The directions still suck but once you have assembled one, it's easy doing another. I have purchase two more 8' x 7' awnings and plan on buying a 10' x 8' unit. These a relatively well constructed and easy to extend and retract. I wanted this centered over a window but the mounting brackets must be situated at the end of the torsion bar for the awning to be fully retracted. I had to move the mounting brackets inward to match the wall studs, thus I am unable to fully retract the awning. Also, the instructions are terrible, especially the directions to adjust the downward angle of the canopy.

First off, everyone who left reviews were absolutely right, the directions SUCK!! Why they can't assemble the thing in the factory then ship it is beyond me!! After a little bit of aggravation & redoing a couple parts we got it hung. Protects our granite & grill perfectly, in fact right after we hung it & rolled it out, it started raining, so it was a perfect test. Don't have it all the way out in the pictures. No rain build up, the rain rolls perfectly off the awning. It was worth the aggravation, we recommend it!
