Zojirushi's Panorama Window Micom Water Boiler & Warmer (CD-LFC50) is a 169 oz. capacity water boiler that boils and keeps water hot at a set temperature for as long as it's plugged in. Select from one of 4 keep warm temperature settings (160 DegreeF, 175 DegreeF, 195 DegreeF, 208 DegreeF) which are the optimal temperatures for brewing different varieties of tea. The Optional Quick Temp mode reaches 160 DegreeF, 175 DegreeF, or 195 DegreeF keep warm directly without reaching a boil. Includes energy-saving timer function (6-10 hours), Cafe drip dispensing mode for slower dispensing, and Swivel base for serving convenience. Non-stick interior is easy-to-clean, and Descaling mode keeps the pot sparkling clean by using Zojirushi's citric acid cleaner.

First, if you have rust issues, it is because of your water, not the unit. It isn’t difficult - if you have minerals and junk in your water (all tap water does), they leave behind residue that builds up, and even rusts. If you have that problem, use the citric acid cleaner they sell for the units as recommended. It’s that simple. I have had this unit over 3 years. I keep it at my office, where it is on 24/5. I unplug it Friday evening when I leave and turn it on Monday a.m. when I arrive. It is used daily for soups, tea, and sometimes pour-over coffee. The first couple months, I babied it, turning it off at night, draining and cleaning at the end of the week, etc. I stopped when I realized it was totally unnecessary. I only use filtered water from a 5-gal dispenser at my office. In 3 years of constant (week) daily use, I have had zero crud-buildup, no rusting or any other issues. I have never needed to run the citric acid cleaner through it or do anything else other than to wipe off the exterior now and then. When I fill it up every other day or so, I remove the lid and inspect the lid and the interior. No rust, no white crusty minerals, nothing. 3 years and 2 months of regular use, and it still works and looks like new. I have been shopping for a similar one for home use - after looking at all of the different brands & models with their mixed reviews, I am opting to spend the extra $ to buy the smaller version of this same unit with no reservations. With all of the cheaply made, poor quality products that have flooded the market and landfills these days (thanks Ama***), this Zojirushi (Japan) stands out.

Safe purchase but not a Cadillac model, 1 year update, 2 year update

Purchased because of the great reviews. Looks fine, works fine. I was surprised that there is not an on-off switch. This is an always-on heating unit. I hope it has a safety off for sensing no water and overheat protection. But then, perhaps the unit doesn't consume that much power running 24/7 and the reliability and perhaps safety (bacteria growth control) is better at constant high temp. Minor observation, as an always-on unit, I think it should be designed for night time use. Yet I need to turn on an overhead light to use at night. A small led lamp to light up under the spout area would be useful for me. Also, could have been a bit taller form factor for me to fill the thermos I use. I keep the heater close to the edge of the counter to fill the Thermos bottle I would have liked a lower temp, maybe around 145, as have to cut the 160 with a little cold water to drink my instant coffee. Note that the temp ratings of 208, 195, 175 and 160 correspond to standard tea brewing temperatures. The 33 inch cord could have been about a foot longer too as I am not using in the kitchen where there are the counter top 110 plugs. *** JAN 2019 Update: Still working well. I use distilled water to avoid cleaning issues. I am unplugging the unit from the back for weekends and travel. *** Apr 2019 Update: Still a solid unit. I have cleaned once with vinegar. No new observations. *** Jul 2020 Update: This is a workhorse unit. We are now pushing a gallon a day through the heater. Fast heating, Recommend and would buy again. This is NOT a compensated or free/subsidized product review.

My new favorite! Worth every penny!

This has been on my wishlist for a couple years and, when it went on sale recently (conveniently just after my other hot water pot died), I had to get it. My old roommate had one just like it that she brought back after living in Japan for 5 years. It’s now over 15 years old, (maybe even closer to 20 years old) and it is still working beautifully- even with everyday use! So, with proper maintenance & care, it can last a very long time!! If you’re on the fence about this one because of the price, don’t hesitate to get it. It will be well worth it. I love the ability to adjust the temperatures. I drink a lot of various teas, herbal remedies, soups, and the occasional instant noodles. So having the ability to set the heat levels to the correct temps for them all is fantastic! Super easy to use, safety features & mechanisms are in place as well, so it’s quite fool proof. I start it up in the morning, use it throughout the day and unplug it at night. All in all, if it was possible to fall head over heels in love with an appliance, this would be the one for me. Definitely worth every penny!

I love everything about this water boiler. Perfect when my home area is out of water or on boil notice due to being out all the time. Easy to lift and fill with water, great handle and design is pleasing for the kitchen. My favorite appliance ever. I use it daily and to have hot water on demand when I need it. The little tunes it plays when the water has boiled is pleasant and reminds me of childhood. Quality product. Easy to use and to clean. Excellent value for the money. Oh, and the detachable cord is so great! I wish all products had this!
