So far so good. I like this as an alternative to cloud storage for my important information. Very easy and intuitive to use. Was fast data transfers. I love the versatility, especially the built in mem card reader. I don't trust cloud storage. Cloud storage is a 3rd party that has access and control of all of your data. You can not ensure it is secure and you can not prevent it from being hack, viewed or shared. You just have to blindly trust that some giant tech company is being honest and will ensure it is not hacked... Giant tech does not have good track records on either of these aspects. I keep cloud storage off and maintain one active physical backup and a secondary backup that is updated a little less frequently.     • They most adapable storage device you could imagine.
Well, so far so good. I had expected this to be a USB-C device as in plug in a USB-C cable at both ends and power/data... done. That's not the case. I must say excellent instructions that come with the device explain that you should plug in the "Micro B" end of the supplied cable to the device before connecting to a computer/tablet/phone. That sort of makes sense as the "Micro B" connector looks a lot like a SATA HD connector. It's a plus that the other end of the cable is native USB C and has and attached adapter to use USB A 3.2. I tested by plugging a USB flashdrive into one of the ports on the drive and it showed up just like it had been plugged into the host computer. This will be super handy with my tablet that only has one USB C port. After plugging in the extra storage I'll still have a free USB C port plus 3 USB A ports (one is USB 3.2). I tested plugging in my old Lumix camera with it's "mini" to USB A cable. That didn't work with the USB 3.2 port but was fine with the other 2.0 ports. This is a very old camera so I attribute the lack of 3.2 connectivity to the camera and not this device. In fact it's a plus that it will find old hardware with the older protocol ports. I bought this to take with me on an eight-month deployment to Antarctica. Our internet connection is too slow to do cloud backups, so I brought this to copy my pictures to. About a week ago, I started getting "disconnected unexpectedly" warnings on my laptop. I figured maybe the cable was loose. Then one day, I was doing a file copy and it started making whirring and clicking noises and I could no longer connect. I tried another cable and it didn't help. I haven't dropped it or anything. Luckily I still had most of the original data (my pictures!!) on the laptop, and I had brought an extra external drive from a different vendor. The SD card port still works, so it's not completely useless. If you want reliable data storage, I'd recommend going with one of the more well-known brands. ... show more

This dual purpose device is amazing! It's slim design and lightweight capacity is perfect as a peripheral for my laptops! It actually doubles the storage capacity of them both (which probably means I'll be getting another one). There was one catch and it was all on me. I didn't read the sticker on the power cable and, somehow, using it "under normal circumstances" didn't allow my older laptop to recognize the drive. No worries.
