    • Poor overall quality with a cheap look

I had ordered these with great hope to provide less splashing on an exterior door and bought a decent warehouse deal on them. They are constructed out of a PVC type material and the panels were damaged but useable. I sat on installing them due to the lesser quality of the construction but finally decided to keep and install them. Well, using the hardware included would result in more damage than not so I opted for screws I provided. Assembly is easy but as mentioned, skip the hardware included unless you are mounting to something made of stone of brick. I doubt these will withstand any hail as they get brittle as it gets colder. The look is rather boring and cheap considering the cost. Water gets around them fairly easy but provides a dry area about 3 feet directly below and that's about it. (Meaning top of door area stays dry only) My final conclusion is to skip them and just construct something out of wood or aluminum. Overall I cannot say I I recommend them at all.... ... show more

Bought these for my front and rear doors. I caulked the canopy pieces with silicone acrylic caulk when assembling, and painted the plastic frame of the canopies with white spray paint designed for plastic. It looks better and should protect the plastic from UV degradation. I mounted them on well-stained 3/4" exterior plywood which I first mounted over vinyl siding with 4" desk screws into the studs. The bottom of the plywood rests on the rigid vinyl trim at the top of the door, and the top rests on the high point of the siding, with a foam strip for cushioning. At the top back of the plywood, I mounted a 1-1/2" wide aluminum angle to act as a drip edge, protecting the top edge of the plywood and making it more rigid. The deck screws are only minimally tightened on the top foam strip, to avoid stress to the vinyl siding. The weight of the canopy pulls on the top screws and pushes down on the bottom door frame trim. I used foam filler strips and caulked at the top and sides to seal the gaps from rain and bugs. On my front door, I had to angle the plywood, so the canopy would tip up slightly, to allow for open storm door clearance (there was limited room above the door to mount the canopy higher for clearance). It took a lot of planning to mount these on vinyl, but they look great - just hope they hold up with some snow weight, before I get to brush them off. ... show more

The awning was not hard to assemble. The dimensions stated are correct. This item is a decent value. It may be a little too cheaply made for some but for certain situations it will do just fine. It is a good awning to try and see if you like having an awnings then you can upgrade to a higher end one down the road. You can't go wrong for the price. ... show more

When I opened the package I thought this may have been a bad purchase - the sturdiness did look too good. However, apart from the installation (you will need help with), the sheets were simple to install and IMMEDIATELY noticed and felt the difference. They have helped soooo much in reflecting the sun rays which in turn keeps the inside cooler. They won't do the job alone, but they help significantly to reflect the sun rays! Definitely recommend. And, for the price, you cannot go wrong! ... show more

Put four of these up in one long string to protect a patio door that doesn't have much roof overhang. These don't look all that sturdy at first, but when mounted firmly, wow! Not sure if it's recommended, but we've hung plants and a bird feeder from them with no sign of trouble. After two seasons, happy to report that our gusty coastal winds haven't done any damage at all. I mounted them into plywood siding, aiming for studs if we could. Used 3/8" x 2 1/2" long galvanized lag bolts to penetrate through the siding and subsiding. Looking good and sturdy as heck. ... show more

As many of the reviews indicate, it can be a bit frustrating trying to marry up half a dozen or so parts that can go in ONE way, but not very intuitive how to. . . . Anyway, once you get past that, it appears to be a wonderful product. It's lightweight, yet sturdy. I hung them each outside of my patio door. This is the patio that was sold by Sears in the 1950's and is a combination of foam and very thin sheet metal. This is perfect to hang above the doors to keep the rain away from the entry way, and also from coming in when the door is open! Will see how it holds up to winds. As mentioned, the included screws may not work for you. I bought 5/16 three inch screws with washers and nuts for my application. ... show more

I have two AirBNB apartments at my home, and I bought these awnings to cover guests while they entered the keypad codes. The packaging was good. The main problem is the screws on the side that attach the arms to the frame. It’s nearly impossible to get them in. They will only go in about half way and stop. Three of us tried to get them in further, and it’s impossible. There are two holes on each arm for attaching to a wall. We predrilled the holes and still had a problem putting screws in the top holes because there isn’t enough room in the design of the arm to operate a power drill. We had to do it by hand. This made the job take longer. Overall I would buy them again. They are extremely affordable. ... show more
