We were getting a lot of rain splash on our door and wanted a bit more protection. This worked out great. The instruction are lacking in clarity, you just need to figure it out yourself on some steps. Like when putting the panels into the tracks we put them in running the wrong direction. They look almost square but they are not and didn't fit. The instruction don't say one word about this. Like other reviews, the process needs TWO people. You have to slightly arc/bend the panel into the tracks of the supports at the same time you are anchoring the next support. Squeeze clamps won't do it, an extra pair of hands will. I would still buy another and recommend to a friend. ... show more

So this awning is inexpensive. Dont expect it support 30" of snow. However it does perform with some snow and certainly rain. The hardware that you receive with it is for masonry ONLY. New hardware is required to install properly into wood structures, I recommend stainless lag screws 3/4" thick or just under to fit the holes. It weighs only a few pounds but the large hardware keeps it from blowing away. It took some real forethought to install on vinyl siding, you'll want to make some mounting blocks and have vinyl trim pieces so that water doesnt get behind it. Also install a window drip edge above it as there will be a 1/2" gap between the house and awning. Getting the second section level was a huge pain in the butt. And it still sheds a little more water towards the middle. I imagine it will last maybe 2 -3 years before the plastic cracks and fails but we live in Maine. UPDATE: Busted after only a single year. It wasn't just some snow, it was the combo of very cold Temps that make plastic very brittle. Don't recommend for Northern Climates. ... show more

I bought this to partially cover a small 60 gallon goldfish pond. It was easy to put together but did take a little thought to figure out the directions. Some notes: 1. Pay attention to the plastic wrapping on the inserts. One side has a note, the aide with the white plastic, which is the side that goes up towards the sun. The other side is clear plastic. 2. Slide on the top and bottom trim pieces on the plastic insert BEFORE you put them in the brackets. 3. The long screws go into the bracket sections into the trim pieces. 4. The short screws go into the front trim piece. 5. The little Z or S shaped piece of metal is to help you hold the screws because the holes are recessed pretty deep at the big end of the bracket. 6. It's possible to hang this by yourself but it's easier with 2 people. I was by myself and put a 4" long wood screw into the wall where one bracket was going and it held up one side for me. But 2 people would be much easier. Overall it seems like a good value for the money. If they last a couple of years you can probably find some plexiglass place to cut you a couple of pieces of the same thickness, around 1/4" or 5/16" and put that back in the brackets. ... show more

I bought this product again because the plastic panels in my original were ruined by hail. This time, I replaced the panels with 1/4 inch plywood coated with liquid rubber. It looks good and seems to have solved my problem. The problem with the panels included is that they become very brittle in the sun after about a year. Still, with my improvements, this awning looks great. Took off points for the panel issue. ... show more

This awning is too flimsy for our home. I purchased it to put over a patio door, but as soon as I got it out of the package I could see it would not hold up to Florida rain and wind. No sense drilling holes into our walls for something that will not last. We tried to return it, but the seller tried to make us pay return costs. The cost to return ship it by UPS or USPS was higher than the cost of the flimsy awning. I had to complain to Amazon, since the flimsy product is listed as Prime FREE shipping and returns. This review is only of the new product and the installation, time will tell of the durability of the materials in the weather. The awning was packaged carefully and no parts were broken or missing. The Polycarbonate sheets had protective sheets and corners. The top sun side was clearly marked. The support arms are more sturdy than I expected and proved quite strong after installing. The instructions were clear and the panels installed easy. As a new install I am more than pleased. Time will tell of the durability. ... show more

We ordered 2 of these. One of them came out the box perfect. One of them had flaws in them. They are not ‘scratched but rather imperfection in the clear sections. Very disappointing!! Since my window of return was delayed — my husband had knee replacement & was in hospital/ in patient rehab for 5 weeks. They were installed this week.
