Plus, if you put a pool cover on top, the bulging pillow will prevent the accumulation of precipitation and debris at the center: lower risk of collapse!
  • EXTRA DURABLE. If youre planning to leave something outside during the harsher months, this something must be strong. Our pool closing kit for above-ground pools is up to the challenge: the pool cover pillow is made of 0.4-mm-thick PVC (27 gauge; almost 3 times thicker than the standard 0.15 mm), and the patent-pending double-sealing embossing technology means that it wont leak, tear, or deflate throughout winter. In our above-ground pool cover kits, material quality is prioritized.
  • HIGHLY RESISTANT TO COLD. If you live in a place where winters are bitter, your winterizing pool kit for above-ground pool protection needs to be able to survive low temperatures on top of keeping stuff out of the pool. Unlike a simpler winter pool cover, this pool pillow will cope with the cold as bad as 10 F (25 C). On the other end of its temperature resistance range, the pillow shows impressive stats, too: it can handle the heat of up to 180 F (80 C).
  • THE ENTIRE WINTERIZATION PROCESS THOUGHT THROUGH. We went through everything that can go wrong with your winterized pool, came up with solutions to prevent it, and implemented them in our above-ground pool winterizing kit. You inflate the pillow using a convenient and hermetic dual Boston valve thats compatible with any blower. And then you center the pillow in the pool using four reinforced grommets at its corners and a 50-foot-long rope included in the pool closing kit. All set!

    • Best pool cover pillow ever!

I've been buying the cheap pillows for the last 20 years because they have been the only option available at Amazon or my local pool store. Sure there are multiple brands, but they're all the sames: same thin plastic, same undependable valve sealing, and only 2 tie-down grommet holes. My standard winter routine was to install 2 pillows so that there'd be a backup for when one lost all its air. Last year both failed and I had to do a lot of work to get a third pillow under the cover mid-winter. And then that pillow failed! These new pillows are fantastic: heavy-gauge plastic, high quality valves and 4 grommet holes (one on each corner). The 4 holes allow me to tie 2 pillows end-to-end, which makes them cover more area and also lets me see that they both still have air. They've been out there for 3 months and both have lost no air. I fully expect to be using these 2 pillows for years. So even given that their price is twice that of the previous cheap ones I was buying, they are a better value since I won't be replacing every year. And the fact that I won't have to open my cover mid-winter for a pillow failure is worth even more to me. ... show more

    • Deflated under the pool after only a couple weeks! Company sent a new one!

EDIT: The company reached out to me and sent me a new pool pillow. Hopefully this second one lasts longer. I will edit the review again when I try it out. This pillow seemed sturdy and well made when we first put it in place under the pool, however within a couple of weeks it had deflated. I do not know if it has a tear or where the leak it because I cannot get the cover off to check with the snowy weather. Really wanted a working one to help our pool over the winter, but nothing seems to be sturdy enough and really keep enough air. My search continues to try and find one that holds air. ... show more

For 35 years I have been searching for an ice compensating pillow that will stay inflated for more than a few months. My search is finally over. This high quality pillow is everything that they claim. Fast inflation and fast deflation are only the beginning. I’m certain that the heavy duty material wide sealed seams and high quality valve will give me years of service. I will be buying another pillow to keep my cover from sagging. I highly recommend this product to any serious pool owner who cares about above and beyond quality. Followup November 2023: If I could add stars I would. My previous review, shown above, from October 2022, did not do this product justice. When I opened my pool this past May, the pillow was still fully inflated. Not only that, it looks like the day it left the Yankee factory. I was so impress that I purchased a second one as two 8’ pillows are really required for my size pool. Last year I just wasn’t going to invest in two expensive compensators if the Yankee advertising turned out to be just hype. To my delight, they are everything Yankee sad they were and more. UPDATE: Seller has reached out to us, and offered to help resolve this issue. I appreciated how quickly the seller responded, and their willingness to offer exceptional customer support and care. Their resolution is very fair, and demonstrates to me that this is a company who stands by their products, and their customers. I will not hesitate to work with this company again. We purchased both a 18' heavy duty pool cover, pillow, and overwintering kit through the Yankee Pool Pillow Store. Today we went out to check on the pool, and found the pillow is no longer inflated, which is now causing the pool cover to take on more water. The pool cover is now stretched to its limits without the inflatable pillow in place. I plan to check to see if there is any sort of warranty on the Yankee pillow? It has been an unusually mild winter here with very little ice, so NO big heavy snows or heavy ice load that could have caused undue stress on the pillow? I hope to get in contact with the seller, to see what/if any warranty exists, and will update this review once we hear back from the seller. Using an Agiiman submersible sump pump unit today, to see if we can help remove some of the liquid on top of the pool, to hopefully protect the heavy duty winter cover, and get a better picture of the condition of the pillow. ... show more
