  • Great starter set up
Set name: System
Great starter system. Fairly easy to set up, but the sound quality is loads better than the sound bar set up I had before. For the price I don't think there's anything that compares. Granted, it's not the same as getting a Sonos or Klipsch setup, but it's also thousands less than either of those will run you. Definitely worth considering if you're on a budget. ... show more

  • This is a sexist Review... Do not read
Set name: System
This system is just like a beautiful woman. It looks awesome and sounds even better. If it doesn't want to work, then you are just gonna have to deal with it for a while, but is really worth it in the long run. All your friends will comment on how great it is so long they don't have to put up with the little details. They definitely don't get to touch it but they can admire. Samsung TV's will fight you with this. About the only way I get it to work long term is to run an expensive optical cable from the tv to the unit. No Problems now but it defeats the purpose of all those hdmi's on the back. To sum up, by the time you realize how much trouble this is, you have already spent so much time and money on it, you will just be happy to sit down and watch tv. ... show more

  • Breaks, repaired on warranty claim and then brakes again 6 months late, now OUT OF WARRANTY. JUNK!
Set name: System
My first unit lasted just under 1 year and then there was a loud buzz and pop and the unit went dead. Would not power up and would only flash a red light. I waited a few weeks for Amazon/Yamaha to send me a shipping box to ship the receiver unit to the nearest repair shop. It cam back a few weeks later, went through the 2 hour process of reconnecting cables and speaker wires, and it worked like a charm, for about 6 months. We watched a movie a couple nights ago and everything was fine. The next afternoon, no sound or picture will come out. Nothing was disconnected or changed that night by anyone in the house. It just stopped working. Now Amazon is telling me that because it's over a year old, I now have to go through Yamaha factory in India. I'm VERY unhappy. No, that's not true. I'm pretty pissed that an almost $800 unit, with cheap speaker wire, can't last more than 1 year without breaking, and that Amazon apparently does not re-start or pro-rate your warranty when it takes them about 2 months to repair their junk Yamaha merchandise. ... show more

  • Great Sound, but Lacks Modern Connectivity
Set name: System
I purchased the Yamaha YHT-5960U Home Theater System, primarily to connect my turntable, but my impressions have been mixed. Pros: • Sound Quality: The sound is impressive. Audio output is clear and full, making it perfect for both movies and music. • Loudness: The system can get loud without distorting the sound, which is great for larger rooms or those who enjoy a more immersive experience. Cons: • Wiring Connections: Connecting the wires on the back of the unit is quite challenging, especially if you don’t have small fingers. The connectors are not user-friendly and can become frustrating during setup. • Outdated Setup Interface: The on-screen setup feels like something from a past era. Navigating through the settings on the TV is clunky and far from intuitive, which detracts from the overall user experience. • Bluetooth Connectivity: Bluetooth is surprisingly unreliable. Previously connected devices seem to be randomly stored or erased, and I haven’t figured out any consistent pattern behind this behavior. • MusicCast App: The MusicCast app feels underdeveloped. It’s as if it were a high school project, with a lack of polish and features. The app’s usability leaves much to be desired, making it hard to control the system via mobile devices. In summary, while the Yamaha YHT-5960U delivers in sound quality and volume, it falls short in terms of ease of use and modern connectivity features. If you’re after great sound and can tolerate some setup headaches, it’s still worth considering. However, if seamless connectivity and modern app control are important to you, this system might be a bit of a letdown. I have to add one star; after the last firmware update, Bluetooth connectivity is decent. ... show more

  • Easy to install and powerful sound!
Set name: System
We wanted to upgrade our sound system. Delivery and packaging were great! I am not tech savvy by any means but was able to install this with no issues! The different setting options are great that you can adjust to whatever you are watching. I like the sleek design of the speakers that I can still have the powerful sound without the bulky speakers all over the room. Only downside is the receiver is a bit on the bulky side so I had to buy a platform for it to be able to sit on my floating tv stand. But other than that this is a great system! ... show more

  • Great starter home theater setup.
Set name: System
The amplifier is very good for this price range and the subwoofer works very well for it's size. The speakers are acceptable but not great. They work well for the rear surround and center channel but you may eventually want to upgrade the front speakers to an entry-level set of bookshelf or floor speakers. If you do you'll probably be very happy, I am =) ... show more

  • Cut-Off Feature Headache!!!!
Set name: System
Let's just say that they don't make them like they used to. Overall, for $700, the quality of the sound could be much better. But regretably, today I'm sending it back because some genius thought it was cool to have the unit cut off after about 10 minutes of inactivity. When I say cut off, I mean cut completely off. When you pause your show or movie, you must power up the unit all over again, every single time. When it does power up, the system volume starts at 0. So you won't hear anything until you hit that extremely slow volume button on your remote or unit. I called Yamaha, hoping there was setting I could manipulate to prevent this from happening, but they said there is no way to stop that crappy feature. So it's going back. FYI, when purchasing my next system, I'll be sure to research this annoying feature. But if you're ok with okay sound quality and the dumb cut-off feature, then have at it. But me personally, this system is not worth the money. ... show more
