  • Great starter set up
Great starter system. Fairly easy to set up, but the sound quality is loads better than the sound bar set up I had before. For the price I don't think there's anything that compares. Granted, it's not the same as getting a Sonos or Klipsch setup, but it's also thousands less than either of those will run you. Definitely worth considering if you're on a budget. ... show more

  • Sound is fantastic
I live in a condominium, so I can't make it very loud, but the sound quality is amazing. Very easy to use

  • Not bad for the price
I'm not sure about the eArc functionality. There is an occasional cut out in the audio while using it, and I'm not sure if it's the tv, the cable, or the receiver. I haven't had time to check which one is doing it. If you want to listen to it loudly, or even at a medium level, you will want to get 16 gauge wire and forget about the 20 gauge wire they include. This will really help out the lower end of the smaller speakers. The sub seems fine with what's included. ... show more

  • Pretty darn good sound.
I actually really like this system. It’s obviously not a $3000 surround sound system, but it fills up our small media room with great sound. It comes on automatically when I turn on the tv and we are in business. I’d buy it again, and in fact, I bought one for my child’s home.

  • Piece of junk. Really disappointed.
Piece of junk. Worked nearly all day to set it up correctly. Turned it on first time and it worked about a minute. Heard a crackle sound and it shut down. Flashing red light afterwards. Won’t power up just red flashing light. Really frustrating. I was gung-ho on Yamaha, but now, not so much. Also not happy with speaker connections. They are cheap little clips that won’t hold the speaker wires. They kept falling out. So disappointed. ... show more

  • Easy to install and powerful sound!
We wanted to upgrade our sound system. Delivery and packaging were great! I am not tech savvy by any means but was able to install this with no issues! The different setting options are great that you can adjust to whatever you are watching. I like the sleek design of the speakers that I can still have the powerful sound without the bulky speakers all over the room. Only downside is the receiver is a bit on the bulky side so I had to buy a platform for it to be able to sit on my floating tv stand. But other than that this is a great system! ... show more

  • Unreliable and very difficult to repair
I purchased this system in May, 2022. Worked and sounded great in the 150 sf cabin I had this installed in. The heart of the system is the RX-V4A A/V receiver which is extraordinarily versatile and full-featured in addition to great sounding. I have another V4A in my living room. Unfortunately, the one in the cabin stopped powering on a couple of weeks ago. A bit of research revealed this is a fairly well-known problem in Yamahaland called the "blinking red light of death." It's a power protection circuit that shuts everything down if it detects a fault like a short circuit or blown component. There are ways to do a soft reset if you think you've identified and rectified the problem--power button plus the two virtual buttons to the right of the panel--but that didn't work for me, even with everything unplugged from the back. Probably a bad output transistor or resistor, according to folks more knowledgeable than me. However, two highly-regarded electronics repair shops in my mid-sized city won't work on it: "too new." (It's not that new). So, I have to send to one of only three authorized service centers in the whole US: CA or GA are my closest. With shipping and fees/parts, I expect this to cost just under the price of a whole new unit: it's out of warranty (two years). I've never had a receiver do this and I don't drive them hard at all. I'm looking at something else now--I don't really know what yet. Disappointing. ... show more
