This is the third Roku device I’ve bought and the first 4K version. I think it’s a good value for the money, especially since I got it on sale. I attached it to my smart TV because it has apps like Kanopy, which my TV doesn’t offer. It was very easy to set up. Unlike earlier versions, the USB plug that I attached to the TV doesn’t get hot, which is a relief. It works well with my high speed wifi and I got an alert from the TV that it automatically adapts for best resolution. A major benefit this product offers is that when you sign into your Roku account at setup, it automatically adds the apps that you have added to your other device(s) if you have any. Therefore, you don’t have to figure out what you want and waste time looking for them. It also shows your watch and keep watching lists when you click on What to Watch. Another great benefit of Roku devices is that you can buy add-on services like AMC+, MGM+, etc. directly through the Roku channel and they are all billed through your Roku account rather than separate platforms. These can only be watched on a Roku device. They just had a holiday sale in which several of these services were offered at $1.99-2.50 per month for two months, so you can binge a show you like for a great price. Roku also has a section of free shows and movies and a lot of live channels dedicated to various topics. The smart features on some brands of TVs are super slow and often freeze up. If you have a TV like that, it’s best to reset it to factory settings and not connect wifi. Then you can attach this product for a stress-free and simple streaming experience.

So worth the price. I love how easy the Roku is to use and set up. I just plugged it in and made an account. I will say, it is important to make sure that the base piece is visible and facing outwards so it can pickup the signals from your remote. I’ve had this for about a year and haven’t needed to change out the remote batteries yet. Love my Roku!

I ordered this device and had it delivered within 8 hours, that in itself is amazing. OK, now about the Roku: The packaging was good, everything was nicely protected and contained everything you need to connect to any TV with an HDMI connector. Connecting the Roku was simple, a small USB wall wart for power, or you can use the USB port on your TV if it has one for power. The included HDMI cable was long enough to place it in a good position but not so long that you have a lot of cable flopping around Network setup was a breeze, I was able to use the provided APP to scan the network passcode directly to the device, very slick, and very fast. Setting up the Roku was a very simple process, I added the streaming services I use and set them in the Roku in under 20 minutes. The provided remote automatically synced to my TV without any intervention from me, the remote controls the power and volume on the TV so you do not need the second TV remote really unless you are changing settings. The Roku turns on almost instantly. I tested loading Amazon Prime Video first, whereas the Blu-ray player I was using for streaming would take several minutes to connect to Amazon Prime Video the Roku opened the service in under 30 seconds each time I tested. The video quality is excellent. The ease of use is excellent. The size and design are excellent, small, and easy to hide in plain sight, it even comes with its own adhesive strip if you want to mount it to the side of your TV. (The remote requires a line of site to function) The only thing I did not like about the Roku setup was the requirement to enter credit card information. I appreciate the fact that if you are going to purchase content that having your credit card on file makes the process faster, but, I still think there should be an option to only enter your credit card if you want to make a purchase. Overall, for the price and for the performance, you cannot go wrong with this product.

I disconnected my cable tv service because of the excess pricing and I only watch about 6 channels anyway. I got my own router. (That is reviewed elsewhere). I have 2 televisions hooked up with ROKU. One is a smart tv, the other is not. This work well on both of them. And the remote is nice because I don't have to first turn on the tv using the TV remote. It also has voice control on the remote and a volume control.This set does not have a remote control locator so, I stuck an extra "Tile" device on the back of the remote so we could find it easily. The remote is rather small and easily disappears into seat cushions, etc. The only thing I have not figure out yet (and so far this has only happened with MAX) is that ROKU kept disconnecting from the internet. I have a new modem and a new mesh router, so I may have to change settings with those, or it could be my ISP. I was able to reconnect via the ROKU app, but eventually had to pull out the TV to control to reconnect and finally had to restart my modem. So, to be fair, I do not know if the disconnection problem was with the modem, the router, the ROKU or the ISP. (ISP said I was getting service to the modem fine - but they always say that.) ROKU has the "Home" base to use. I could take everything off that was a pay for service app, except the ones I wanted to leave on. There are so many apps and so many channels to choose from that it is quite overwhelming. I was not really that interested in most of the ROKU "live" channels, but you can easily get to Amazon Prime, MAX, etc. from HOME, once you set it up, then set up your favorites in each app. The only thing I have bad to say about the ROKU device is that I wish it was a little bigger and had a couple more buttons to program for certain apps. Another thing to know is that when I disconnected my cable television, they did not cancel Disney+ and I could not transfer it to ROKU, so I had to cancel it on the Disney+ web site, then restart it under ROKU. So far, we do not miss cable TV.

Our old TV just got a reprieve. After doing some research, we bought this Roku Express 4K+ streaming player and found it works quite well. We have hooked it up to an old Samsung 22" TV (model code LT22B350ND/ZA) which was made in 2013. Received it within a few days of ordering it and it took about 20 minutes to get it working. Ease of use: Follow the included instructions. I plugged it into our power strip rather than the TV USB port since I heard that there were issues related to that (one report of fire, some issues with inadequate power, etc.). Remote takes a little time getting used to - I haven't figured out what all the buttons do and I still haven't figured out how to slave the remote to adjust TV sound. I can imagine that will make my life easier because I won't need to use the TV remote for anything else except for changing the input source and doing some TV fine tuning. Volume adjust/mute buttons are on the side of the remote which was an issue for a few people, but I'm OK with it. From past reviews, sounds like the remote is not very durable but that remains to be seen. Speed: quite responsive - no complaints Appearance: The wireless receiver is quite unobtrusive. This Roku comes with a mounting strip so you can stick it where you want it. I just parked it on the TV base without the strip. Battery life and the rest: remains to be seen but for a gadget that cost less than $40, we're satisfied. So much so that we will get another for our living room TV - it's a few years younger but we expect the Netflix and Prime Video software for it to eventually outdate. One thing that bothers me is that you have to sign up for a Roku account which means giving out your credit card info. I still have misgivings about doing that being the closet Luddite that I am.
