The YAKIMA LoadWarrior System is an ultra-capacity, multi- use beast that merges versatility with a cavernous load-carrying capacity. With 1 1/8" front and rear load bars, you can attach YAKIMA accessories directly to the bars and carry your favorite bikes, skis or boat. Ideal for loads tall in stature and wide in girth. The LoadWarrior looks great on my car and, more importantly, seems really well made. Assembly/installation wasn't difficult, but the powder coating made it difficult to fit the two basket sections together. I'm taking away a star because I had to alternate tapping each side with a dead blow hammer to get it to slide together far enough to get the screws in, which left marks in the finish. For a product as high-end (and expensive) as Yakima, that was disappointing. I'd have expected it from a knockoff, but a genuine rack shouldn't have that issue. I've used it to bring a Kayak home from the next town over where I bought it, as well as to take it out to the state park and back and I've had no issues. I did add foam pipe insulation to the front and rear bars of the rack to avoid putting too much pressure on the kayak and it works really well for transporting it without a J-Cradle attachment. I also added a bike lock holding it to my crossbars, because it doesn't come with a locking mechanism and can be removed without tools. Handy for taking it off/putting it back on easily if needed, but does make it an easier target for theft, so I definitely recommend getting a steel cable lock as a deterrent. ... show more

Love the look of this on my 2019 Subaru Crosstrek! Purchased OEM bars and installed the crossbars and the basket on the same day. The OEM bars had to be spaced differently than the install instructions. This made for a fun time tweaking everything but all turned out well in the end. Just took longer than it should have. Also, as another reviewer and owner of a Crosstrek mentioned, you will have to install the 2 back brackets on the inside instead of the outside-You’ll know. I wish I had read that prior as I had to reinstall the brackets the next day and tweak the crossbars again. 😏 The directions could be better, I’m OCD. Oh, also I recommend the locking brackets. It’s not a sure thing but it’s better than nothing at all and otherwise is very easy to screw off the wing nuts. But geez, those locks are expensive but probably better than a new basket and they are simple to put on. Looks good. Sturdy and functional. Will give us a ton of extra room for road trips and everyday things. Also purchased a net and a waterproof bag for the basket that stays in the car RTG. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this purchase. You pay a little more but it looks awesome and you get what you pay for!! ... show more

I have always wanted one of these and I finally made the purchase. I like to come prepared when I go camping and with a midsize SUV and two dogs taking up the back seat (a whole 1/3 of my car), my space is very limited. This past weekend we went on a camping trip and I was able to use it. It worked wonderfully. I was able to throw several things up top and with a good set of ratchet straps (I used the RHINO brand that can be purchased here on Amazon) nothing budged on my way out to the camp site. I gave this four stars because I did have some issues with putting it together out of the box. One of the screws would not screw in all the way, no matter what I did. I tried with a screw driver and with a drill. I think the screw receiver came loose or something because after giving up trying to get the screw all the way in, I couldn't even get it to unscrew to take it out. So I just had to leave it in. Now it's just hanging out to where I can freely spin it in either direction with my fingers but it doesn't go anywhere. I just threw some electrical tape around it to kind of mask it sticking out and called it good. I was pretty unhappy with this because I know Yakima makes some great products and I didn't expect to have this issue. I have the corebar roof rack system and the "bigstack" kayak attachments and I'm very pleased with both. Other than the issue with the loose screw I'm very happy with the loadwarrior. It's rugged and holds up very well and is perfect for the job. It's a little tedious trying to get it up top and centered on your car when doing it by yourself, so I'd recommend having someone help you to cut down on installation time. But overall I'm very pleased. Hopefully no one else has any issues with the screws!! ... show more

    • Great rack!! Make sure to GET THE LOCK!!!
This rack was made with excellent craftsmanship and quality. I also got the extension that came with the accessory bar. I waited until I received the extension before I put the whole rack together. At first I thought it didn't come with the farer or a couple screws but then realized the farer had slipped out and was hidden in the box. Also the screws were pre screwed into the rack itself. I used this to drive 7 hrs to move to a new state. It worked beautifully and looked amazing on my truck. Unfortunately a few weeks after I moved to my new city someone stole the entire rack from off my truck in the middle of the night! This was my fault because I didn't buy the $70 Yakima lock (which is a very simple device) because they didn't sell them on Amazon and they were out of stock (still are as of writing this) on their website. It was a bummer but a learning lesson as well. Don't make the same mistake I did! Yakima makes great products (although their customer service could use a bit of sunshine lol!)! Not their fault but I wish they included the lock with the cargo rack for customers. I liked the rack so much that I am going to buy it again with the extension PLUS lock very soon. ... show more
