  • Good bang for your buck!
The finished product looks really nice! It did take me like 5 hours to assemble and install by myself but overall I think it was worth it. The instructions do call for some serious concentration to understand them. Rack feels real sturdy once assembled and good quality! The aluminum parts I’m like on the border because they’re feel strong once assembled but also a little brittle by themselves. I’ll be trying it out with a roof rack tent soon. ... show more

  • Excellent roof rack.
This roof rack is extremely durable. I have not noticed the slightest bit of wind noise coming from it while at 80 mph. It was a pretty complicated install. And some of the extra Drilling was a bit of a nightmare. Anyone buying it will want to make sure they have some very good metal drill bits. That is if you're buying the extended version that requires extra drilling. Some of the parts were a bit tricky to figure out where they belonged. So it took me a lot longer than I had hoped. (about 10 hours) Since I'm retired I'm not complaining. And I certainly can't complain with how nice it looks and how well it works. The T Channel rails that go across are extremely adaptable to a lot of accessories. I plan on adding a lot to it. So thanks for the quality product at a decent price. ... show more

  • Read carefully, assemble the rails with accessories first!
I like this rack but there are a few things about the instructions that will cause you to waste a lot of time. I drilled in the additional brackets but I assembled and installed each rail COMPLETELY before bolting in any of the cross pieces. First, read the instructions 5 times until you are absolutely certain that you understand the format and layout of the rack. Then preassemble all of the accessory brackets, handholds and OEM location brackets BEFORE trying to put this on the car... This will amount to 20 minutes of work on the ground vs 2 + hours on a ladder while fighting around the other parts to get bolts into place... Even if you end up moving an accessory bracket or two you will be WAY ahead. I installed the accessory brackets upside down vs how the instructions show them. This allows things like a sheet of plywood to overhang the width of the rack but still allows you to use them as tie down locations. The instructions call for silicone to be used... Most silicone products have no use on auto body applications, it will draw moisture between itself and metal causing rust. Get windshield glass sealant or loctite PL polyurethane roof and flashing sealant... But, understand the clean up associated with the PL BEFORE you try and apply it. It's messy, a little goes a long way, it requires gloves and a solvent to remove/clean up so be very careful with it. Once cured, it's a forever bond that will not leak or cause rust. I bolted each side rail to the top independently, this saved having to lift 80 lbs over top of the vehicle. I then installed the front, rear and two cross pieces to square up, mark drill locations, remove, drill and then reinstall. It's just easier to work with sections than it is a giant rack loosely bolted together. Otherwise once all bolted together the rack is pretty darn solid, I'd recommend it. ... show more

  • Figment
So the product shipment was on point east to install. Everything lined up perfectly. The only thing I can say is that the instruction manual that came with it needs to be a little more detailed and I think they should have more pictures as to some of the brackets were difficult to figure out where they go. 100% would buy again Looks good mounted on my 4Runner ... show more

  • Good Rack
This is a good roof rack. Quality seems well built. The finish is great. It is packaged in a thousand pieces. The instructions are not well explained. I had difficulty installing the brackets that did not screw into my roof. The sticky patches are worthless. Take your time putting together.

  • Nice rack
Easy assembly and installation. I have this on my 18 4Runner and it looks great. I added a light bar too. It’s a little noisy on the highway, but I’m sure part of that is the light bar

  • Tyger products are under rated
I’ve used Tyger products on my previous FJ and now using them on my 4Runner. This rack is easy to install. Even if doing by yourself. The trick to doing by yourself is to do the instructions backwards. I installed each piece one step at a time. Love that it has so many places to add additional brackets, and accessories. ... show more

  • Read the manual...
Assembly was pretty easy...just read the manual. The manual in the box was 9 pages, but the online manual was 14 pages. The 5 extra pages on the online manual was for Option B...if you decided to drill. I decided for Option A (non-drill). First, organize the parts and hardware, then prep the rig. Remove stock rails and clean stock mount locations. Add the 2 hole stickers to the spacers. Add silicone (not included) around the stock bolt locations....and install and press spacers down....some silicone may squeeze into the spacer holes...if this happens, clear it. Later, add the square stickers to the spacers for weatherproofing. I did not have an extra pair of hands, so I installed it piece by piece on my rig. I threw an old bed cover on the roof to protect from scratches. I installed the driver side rails first with the 4 brackets. I added more silicone in the hole before inserting the bolt for peace of mind....the bolts were lightly tighten with some play in the brackets. Note: each bracket is labeled if you look close enough. "D..." for driver side....and "P..." for passenger side. There are distinct notches on the brackets too...so based on the manual...you will know which is #1 (front) to #4 (rear). Then I installed the passenger side rails. Next the front valance and then the rear piece to finish up the frame. Note the frame is made of carbon steel. It has a nice finish on it....and the reason why this rack weighed 75 lbs. Again, everything was lightly tighten with some play. Next, I installed the 8 aluminum rails (lightly tightening them). I started buttoning it down with the aluminum rails first, then decided on the height of the rack, then tighten the bolts at bracket #2 and #4 (bracket #1 and #3 sits on the weather strip) to the rig. I finally tighten the front valance and the rear. Done!! ... show more
