Description

Cutting just got more powerful—and more convenient—with the Worx Nitro 40V Cordless 16" Chainsaw. This chain saw delivers high-powered cutting without the need for gas—and the maintenance hassles and cost it carries. Whether you're tackling everyday trimming or confidently slicing through dense hardwood, its high-performance 40V battery power ensures you don't have to compromise on productivity. Adding to the cutting power is the cordless chainsaw’s high-efficiency brushless motor. Compared to brushed motors, it runs 50% longer, delivers 25% more power, and delivers a 10X longer life. The 40V battery chainsaw runs on Power Share PRO batteries, which are designed to optimize power and resist damage to increase runtime—so you can slice through 150 pcs of 4"x4" hardwood on a single charge. Those same batteries can also be used with 140+ power tools, outdoor equipment, and various lifestyle products that are all part of the of the innovative, eco-friendly Power Share platform by Worx. Expect rapid, smooth cuts with this battery operated chainsaw. It delivers a 59 ft/s cutting speed—2X that of its predecessor. And with the chainsaw's robust support of the brushless motor, heavy loads won't shut the equipment down, so you can get more work done efficiently. With automatic lubrication, the chain stays perfectly oiled without you needing to worry about it, providing smooth and efficient cutting, while also prolonging the bar & chain life. Adjusting your battery powered chainsaw chain is just as easy. The tool-less chain tensioning and replacement system is designed to save you time and effort. Simply turn a knob clockwise to achieve perfect chain tension without overtightening. Or turn it counterclockwise to replace the chain without any need for tools. This chain saw doesn’t skimp on safety. Its quick-stop chain brake immediately springs into action if kickback occurs to help prevent injury. Plus, the added safety trigger lock prevents accidental starts, offering additional peace of mind.

  • Works great, good power, quick cut, handles thick limbs too
Style: Chainsaw
I've had a few electric chain saws over the years. I went light on the cost and power, thinking it could handle work around my property. They all failed. This one though, this is the best. I cruised through limbs in the 10 inch diameter range, like butter. I know it costs more but man it's worth more. If you have a real need, this one comes through. I am very happy. ... show more

  • Got tired of poulan to start my gas chainsaw, got this one for a stihl, and it really worx!
Style: Chainsaw
Bad puns aside, I rolled the dice and bought a "used, like new" one for $180. To my surprise, it was brand new! I have a Poulan Pro that won't start due to fuel line issues and a no name 12" electric chainsaw that's only good for pruning small branches. This chainsaw exceeded my expectations. I had a full sized pecan tree fall during a storm and needed something more powerful that starts on command. This went right through everything like a knife through butter. The only thing to watch for (like any chainsaw) is avoiding pinch points that will throw the chain. I was so excited at how easily it was going through big branches that I pinched it on a smaller branch and threw the chain. Luckily you can put the chain back on and tension it without using any tools or removing any panels! NOTE: If your saw won't start you haven't pulled the break/guard back hard enough. It has a little play in it but goes back further in order to start. ... show more

  • Cuts well but chain comes off easily
Style: Chainsaw
Overview. Saw cuts well (impressively well), is reasonably light, easy to maneuver and batteries are interchangeable with other Worx products of same voltage. Chain is narrow and will come off if given any excuse to do so. Recommended. This saw cuts very well. It easily cut through a 3-4" diameter juniper tree and crape myrtle branch. In fact, it probably cuts better than the corded one it replaced. The lack of a cord makes it a pleasure to use. Just grab and go (no heavy extension cord required) wherever needed. The batteries from the Worx's blower were completely interchangeable with these so I did not even have to wait on the batteries to charge. My one issue (and the reason for 4 stars) is the chain popped off the first time I used it. It took several minutes to get the chain back on (and required the use of two pliers on one link). Others have noted the same issue with the chain coming off. (My guess is the thinness of the chain is the culprit - but the thin chain is likely one of the reasons it cuts so well). Conclusion: This chainsaw cuts very well and I recommend it. In my opinion it cuts better than the corded chainsaw it is replacing. Care should be taken to keep the chain properly tight and to avoid any action that might cause the chain to pop off. ... show more

  • A Homeowner's Chainsaw
Style: Chainsaw
This is a well thought out and engineered tool with user friendly features that you will appreciate. The proper direction to mount the chain is clearly indicated on the chain bar. Adjusting the tension of the chain on the chain bar requires no separate tool. The chain brake directions(on/off) are clearly marked and the mechanism emits a distinct click when engaging the brake. There is a light display that can be activated to indicate the amount of available power in the batteries. For those of us who need to do occasional clean up that involves cutting up logs or trimming tree branches this is the tool to get. It is difficult, if not impossible, to maintain a conventional chainsaw that is not used regularly. I know I have had difficulty both starting a conventional saw and in keeping it running while working. You will not have any of those problems with this tool. Furthermore, when the power switch is released, the chain immediately stops turning. There is no need to engage the brake or cut the engine to stop the chain while you do other work. It is more like working with a portable circular saw. Some suggestions for new chain saw users. When you first get the saw, the chain bar will not be lubricated. Therefore , after filling the chain bar oil chamber, you should carefully spread oil on both the chain bar and the chain - you can do this by dipping you fingers in the chain oil and spreading it on bar and chain. This probably means you have to disassemble the chain and chain bar from the saw and then remount them. This is relatively easy to do but requires care and a pair of gloves. Get use to this as you will need to thoroughly clean the tool after each use. Getting the right tension in the chain is essential for proper operation - too tight and the life of the chain and chain bar will be short; too loose and the chain will derail. The instruction manual on this point is very good - suggesting that when done properly, one can pull down on a link and it will spring back into the original position. Also be sure the chain brake is released so you can test that the chain moves smoothly when manually pulled around the bar. If in doubt about how to proceed, there are many YouTube videos on chainsaw use and maintenance. Also of note is that for additional safety you can do all adjustments with the batteries removed. This is a fine tool when used for its intended purpose. It won't replace a conventional chainsaw for really heavy duty and extended usage. It takes an extended period of time to charge the batteries, which must be done when you first receive the saw. That said I did find that it could easily be used to cut up a soft wood tree with a maximum 10 inch diameter and still have half its maximum power still available. ... show more

  • As powerful as gas. Cuts great!
Style: Chainsaw
I chose to get a battery powered chainsaw because i'm tired of pulling cords on small motors that are hard to start. If you don't used them frequently they will give you trouble. I'm 61 and its tough on the old shoulders. I had never used a battery powered chainsaw before so I didn't know how this one would perform. I used this chainsaw for about 8 hours clearing away a ton of big limbs that had fallen in a recent storm. The WORX Nitro 40V 16" chainsaw went through 3-10" limbs all day long on nearly a single charge. There are a few complaints in the negative reviews about the chain coming off. My chain did come off once initially but the instructions say it will stretch a little at first and to check it for tightness. I failed to do that and so it popped off. After I replaced the chain and made sure it was tight I had no problems the rest of the day. As it says in the manufacturer replies on some reviews, you need to pull out and push the bar up slightly as you tighten the chain. I feel most of the complaints about the chain coming off constantly are due to user error. This saw cut wood like butter. And it's MUCH quieter than gas saws. Not one kickback or bogging down of the motor on any size limb. Compared to the price of a decent brand of gas chainsaw the WORX is a bargain for the $263 I paid on Amazon. I'm very please with this chainsaw and recommend it completely. ... show more
