Knocked out 5 medium trees in no time, but it did struggle on power as well as the chain broke during the hassle.     • cheap made bar and chain
i recommended the Husqvarna chain saw many times but this last one has a horrible bar and chain . the chain gets burs on the inside track ( had them when it was new ) and won't run thru the bar. after i filed the burs off it jumps off the bar regularly. bar and chain on a cheap chainsaw is better. i think something has changed the older 450 husqvarna saws were better ... show more

I’ve never used a chain saw for anything let alone to cut down a dead tree. After buying this and reading the instructions I felt confident that I could use this without fear of hurting myself. It was easy to start and the throttle was responsive to the trigger. It’s not very heavy so it was easy to maneuver into each cutting position. A chainsaw for home DIYers or professionals. Well built with great features such as easy access to the air filter and easy grip handle. Added oil and fuel and it started on the first pull. Cutting down some 16 diameter pine trees it glided through the trunks like a hot knife through butter. Definitely recommend this one. ... show more

So, it's a fine saw, don't get me wrong. As you can see in my pic, I own several Husqvarna saws (and a snowblower). I ordered this 450R as immediate-need, because my 445R needs a tune-up and I can't be without a saw. Pros: - New - Cuts well when it starts, predictable handling Cons: - My 445 starts on the first-pull (I've had it 4-5 years), this 450 seems to take 6-10 pulls - My 445 started immediately when warmed-up, no-choke, no-primer, just pull it and away it goes... this 450 doesn't start immediately when hot and I don't know whether I should choke (flood) it or primer (flood) it... I just try everything and 5-6 pulls later it fires - This 450 does not have the RPMs at WOT like my 445, I swear this is slower - I also swear this 450 wants to bog-down more than my 445, and I'm not talking because the bar (20") is 2" longer than my 445R's 18" bar, as I wasn't sawing 20" limbs I don't know how to realistically measure the difference between what I thought were basically the same saw-engines, and I don't know if there is just something-off about this 450R, but my 445R felt like I could really get high-RPMs (with lower power), and this 450R is approximately the same cutting but at lower RPM (which means it has more power), but I could also bog this 450R down cutting if I wanted to, even with a brand-new chain. My 445R just seemed to always be there for me (until this latest carburetor issue), while this 450R is lackluster. ... show more

got this one after my pulon pro accidently fell under my sledgehammer a few times, so far has been a good saw, will be going camping soon where it will get a real workout, hope it continues to perform like a Husqvarna!!
