This 20 ton log splitter exceeded my expectations. I had no problem splitting oak and gum and even the logs with knots! It’s all the power I need as I don’t split anything over 16” diameter. I did add a hydraulic filter on the return side even though there is a screen in the tank. Just for peace of mind. I love the fact it doesn’t take up much space and easily rolls around. I also did set it up on car ramps and set a small table up beside it to save my back. I also did have a problem with the control valve not working properly using the auto return feature. The company was helpful and did send me a new valve and it now works perfectly! I also had a leak at the hose fitting pump side. I used some Permatex ultra black rtv sealant where the suction hose attaches at the pump and it took care of that. Even with those problems I still highly recommend this splitter. Great little splitter that has worked great so far. The only safety issue is it's a bit heavy on the engine side so it can tilt up on end if you're not paying attention. for half the price of other splitters, i'm pleased with it! UPDATE Oct 2022...splitter still works great. I recommend tightening the screws periodically or take them out and add some Locktite. The screw behind the splitter handle came out and caused the seal to split due to the hydraulic pressure. Vibration seems to cause them to come loose. Update March 2023... the achilles heel to this splitter is the seal that is on the valve controller. I've had to try and seal it a few times using various gasket supplies. I finally got fed up and bought the RuggedMade 25 GPM Hydraulic Log Splitter Directional Control Valve, Auto Return Detent Lever Handle, 2750 PSI from Amazon for $105. Get the one that has 1/2" work ports. For the 3/4" ports, go to the hardware store and buy a 3/4 to 1/2 NPT reducer. Works great now especially since the RuggedMade has a built in pressure relief valve. ... show more

Purchased this log splitter while it was on sale and glad I did. Assembly was no problem. The only issue I have found is the hydraulic fluid filler cap/dip stick tightens up when threading on and will not allow the o-ring to seal completely. Hence it leaks a little during operation. Not sure how to work that out yet. Other than that, it split up a 5x8 trailer full of logs in a little over an hour. Pretty good in my book. ... show more

    • Works well
I've split about a cord so far with no problems. I did replace the hose clamps that came with the unit as they stripped out (29mm-31mm worked for me) and it was sucking air into the pump. Engine runs well, plenty of hydraulic power Update: Its been about a year now, and it still starts first pull. It splits anything I can lift onto it. Only issue I have had is a log popping back and knocking loose the control valve, which has happened twice, both times I was able to tighten it up. Not sure if it's designed that way, to knock loose so the threads/port on the piston doesn't get damaged, but it doesn't leak and easily fixed. ... show more

We burn all winter. Every couple of days I listen to my husband splitting wood outside. It takes weeks. He doesn’t mind since he thinks it’s good exercise but now that he’s in his 60’s, I worry about him hurting himself. I finally convinced him to get a log splitter. What a game changer. He split all the wood for the entire winter in three days. Very impressive. So worth the investment. It’s small and compact so it doesn’t take up much space in the shed. He was able to move it all over our property & split the logs instead of hauling big, heavy logs to the house. Would definitely recommend ... show more

    • Excellent Splitter
I had a friend who purchased one during the summer. I borrowed it to split two 16ft. trailer fulls for my outdoor fireplace. It performed well enough that I bought my own. My only complaint is that the ram does not go close enough to the wedge to alwasy split a green log.
