  • Working well in my desktop. Brand new, packed well and warranty registered easily
Capacity: 4TB Pattern Name: Internal Hard Drive
I know this is a NAS drive, but from my reading, it should be fine to use it as a secondary drive in my desktop. It worked immediately after installing it in the case, no need for any software downloads. I don't notice any additional sound over my case fans. The reason I went with this drive was because I wanted CMR. Many other consumer drives of this size are SMR, which can slow down when files are repeatedly moved around on them. Due to the amount of reviews talking about warranty issues, I was a bit wary at first. Everything has turned out OK so far though. Mine was shipped and sold by Amazon, and arrived in a nondescript brown box with proper support packaging. I attached my CrystalDiskInfo screenshot showing that the drive I received was brand new, with a single power on, and no bad sectors. The internal serial number and the printed serial number matched, and allowed me to register easily for the 3 year WD warranty. ... show more

  • Terrible Shipping
Capacity: 14TB Pattern Name: Internal Hard Drive
These drives are great. The shipping is terrible. I ordered river $2000 worth of drives and they were extremely poorly packaged. The packing material (basically none) was deflated and the drives were banging around in the box when it arrived. Not only was the inside packing material damaged, but so was the box, and the drives themselves. I had to send back a dysfunctional drive that was broken in transport which delayed by project by over a week. I highly recommend buying your drives from a different seller. ... show more

  • Western Digital Is A-OK!
Capacity: 6TB Pattern Name: Internal Hard Drive
I love the HDs from Western Digital but, on this occasion, I received a drive packed in only a lightweight bubble pack with small bubbles shipped in a non-cushioned plastic bag. Although the drive appears to be in good physical and working condition, the HDD controller board could have been easily damaged. After many years of hard drive shipments, this is the first to not be shipped in a well cushioned box. I have already reported it to Customer Service so hopefully future shipments will be done properly. ... show more

  • Solid NAS drive, low noise
Capacity: 8TB Pattern Name: Internal Hard Drive
Bought three 8TB drives for a new Synology NAS. After two months they're still performing as advertised. I debated between WD and Seagate for awhile. Besides the ever crucial reliability, I was worried about drive noise as I don't have a great isolated place for my NAS to live. While still audible if you are near the NAS (when it's under heavy use), these drives are probably about as quiet as you'll get for mechanical drives. ... show more

  • Great capacity and reliability
Capacity: 14TB Pattern Name: Internal Hard Drive
I have a 1 TB SSD for OS and Applications. I bought 2 of these WD Red drives for data storage. 1 internal to the PC and 1 in an external enclosure I use for mirrored backup. I am quite happy and have had no issues.

  • Hard to rate. It works. Time will tell
Capacity: 2TB Pattern Name: Internal Hard Drive
The ones I purchased all work and were received in good condition. It is hard to rate these though. They are CMR and not SMR which is a good start point and I am happy that WD is now more upfront with their products on this. They are relatively quiet compared to similar drives. Time will tell on their longevity ... show more

  • Premium drive with a not to bad premium price
Capacity: 6TB Pattern Name: Internal Hard Drive
Mixed this with a Seagate in a nas. this one is quieter. As far as I can tell that is the only difference. We'll see which one lasts longer, Home user so expecting it to last a decade at least.

  • My NAS is happy humming
Capacity: 8TB Pattern Name: Internal Hard Drive
I have 5 bay Synology for many years and all 5 drives are the same, WD Red. Did not have any issues over the year.
