My old hard drive was an HDD and it was slowing down after owning it for a few years. I knew I needed a replacement and so I went with the WD Blue 4TB SSD. I did need to get a housing adapter because the form factor was 2.5 inch to replace my old 3.5 inch drive, but everything else connected right to my motherboard. Once I downloaded Windows 10 onto it and started it, my machine ran faster than it did with my old hard drive. I would recommend anyone that has a HDD to upgrade to the solid state and see the difference. ... show more

I purchased the WD Blue 4TB SATA SSD for use in an Aikitio RAID enclosure, as part of a RADI0 configuration (I had another identical drive in place). The drive was well-packaged and arrived in perfect condition. Installation is dirt simple; just plug and play. Performance is at the upper end of what a USB-connected SATA SSD can do, which is in the 400MBps range for read and write, which is plenty for what I'm doing with it. With its sibling in RAID0 configuration, I'm seeing 700-800MBps throughput consistently, which is fantastic for SATA. While the Aikitio RAID chassis is essentially an armored heat sink for the drives, I've noticed that, even under duress (i.e. a 1.7TB copy-write operation), both drives have remained relatively cool (< 110F). Finally, these are WD drives, so they come with an outstanding reputation for engineering and durability. The only other brand of SSD I'll touch is Samsung EVO NVMe, which are also very good (but pricey). In my humble opinion, the WD drives are just as good but about 20% less expensive as the Samsungs, so I continue to use them heavily. These are the sixth set of WD SSDs I've purchased and I've not had a single problem with any of them. Solid five stars! ... show more

I've been a Western Digital HDD fan for many years. I gave in and decided to give their SSD's a try. So far it works every bit as well as a Samsung, SanDisk, and a Crucial. The WD can be seen in 2 pics.

This is a fairly cheap 4TB (around 3.63 usable) drive from a reputable company. Can't go wrong with that. I got this one to unclutter my PC, which had several 1TB drives. Installing is as easy as any other drive with no extra steps or problems. Now, not fully sure if it's my copy or if it's because of the larger capacity, but this one takes a split second longer to show things in folders and opening things like photos and programs, despite showing the same speed stats as my 1TB drives. It's not much of a problem, but said 1TB drives felt a tad snappier. Because this is a SATA drive and we are now entering the age of nvme, I will recommend this mainly for data storage. For games, I'm using it for any games that don't need massive SSD speeds, and use my nvme for games that need it. ... show more
