  • Reliable, durable speedy little hard drive
Color: Blue Capacity: 4TB Style: PC
I've been using Western Digital passport drives since way back in 2005. In fact, I still have an old 40? GB that still works - they're pretty durable, but I get a new one every 7-8 years to make sure I don't have one go bad, and to keep up with any technology advancements like USB 3 speeds. This little guy lived up to my expectations; it was fast, it seems just as well-made and durable as prior versions, and the space let me put on all the episodes of bluey (for my kids) and most of the marvel movies as well (also for my kids), and still have some space to stick on some fun comedy and action flicks (... also for my kids, eventually). It's light weight, fast, durable, and what's not to like? It's a great little drive. ... show more

  • Massive, Secure Storage in a Sleek Mac-Friendly Design
Color: Silver Capacity: 6TB Style: Mac
The WD 6TB My Passport Ultra for Mac is a high-capacity, portable external hard drive designed for reliable storage and seamless backup. With USB-C and USB 3.1 connectivity, it offers fast transfer speeds and easy plug-and-play use. Built-in backup software, password protection, and ransomware defense keep your files secure, while the sleek silver design complements any Mac setup. Perfect for large media libraries, work documents, or everyday file storage, this drive combines convenience, performance, and peace of mind. I orders the 6TB to consolidate other smaller drives that had been formatted on MSFT so I can organize and delete on my new Mac. Small and quiet! ... show more

  • 5MB drive in 5TB box with flakey cable – buyer beware! AVOID THIS DRIVE!
Color: Silver Capacity: 5TB Style: Mac
Ordered a 5TB drive, received a 5MB (4.9MB) drive in a box labelled 5 TB. Based on the number of positive reviews for this product, I wrongfully assumed this issue had been resolved. (Shame on Amazon for continuing to market this product.) Spent several minutes using Disk Utility to verify the drive I received only has 4.9MB of storage, NOT the 5TB I purchased for a whopping $179.00+ tax. Complete waste of my time during a work day. Am returning the drive and will be purchasing another SanDisk Professional G-Drive ArmorATD because the Seagate drives I own are unreliable and dismount without notice – usually when I am in the middle of a project, which guarantees all of my changes and new work are lost. For those who are interested, I use Mac compatible, reliable external drives with a decent lifespan and transfer speed. Plug and play is a plus, not a must. I will re-format exFAT drives like the SanDisk Pro G-Drive ArmorADT. Functional cable that comes with the drive is also a must. Western Digital is notorious for shipping drives with defective cables. I decided to give this drive a try based on positive reviews posted by Amazon purchasers and a review in MacWorld (they certainly missed the mark). This product was a complete waste of my time and money. Don't be duped! Save your money and skip this external drive. If you want a great reliable external drive with a good transfer speed (that doesn't significantly degrade as the drive fills) and good lifespan (mine are 5 yrs and counting), buy the SanDisk Professional G-Drive ArmorATD. The G-Drive is a bit spendy, but they are ruggedized drives, unlike Seagate, the WD My Passport Ultra and many other brands – and you won't go thru the stupid crap I just experienced with this WD My Passport Ultra drive that only had 4.9MB of storage space. SHEESH ... The SanDisk Pro G-Drive offers VARIETY with 5 drive sizes: 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, 5TB and 6TB. They are RELIABLE and come with a good quality cable (unlike Western Digital). Note: the SanDisk is formatted to exFAT, so you will need to re-format using Disk Utility – but that's a breeze and only takes a few minutes. Save yourself time, hassle and aggravation ... avoid this drive and buy a SanDisk Pro G-Drive ArmorADT. ... show more

  • This is NOT an SSD, it has platters and you must be careful not to move it when it is running.
Color: Silver Capacity: 5TB Style: Mac
It is an external hard drive that has spinning platters. Care must be taken not to move it when it is operating. I wish it was like the SSD drives as it needs a power source to operate.

  • Great drive but DEFECTIVE/mis-toleranced CABle included - DO NOT USE!!
Color: Blue Capacity: 5TB Style: PC
Great drive but TERRIBLE mis-toleranced/defective cable included. See below for details. Great drive. I wanted to get a 5 TB size HDD to store all my Ripped CDs to be able to stream them on my network. Ive been using WD drives for a long time. Never had any issues. I have a Windows system 1) Great Drive. I checked the drive integrity using the included WD tools and it checked out fine. I deleted the utilities to leave a blanl drive. This left 4.54 TB of available space (Formatting drive takes up 0.46 TB) 2) The included CABLE is 100% Junk. Throw it away. It is designed improperly with bad specs that do not fit into ANY of the USB-C ports I have. It is very loose and falls out. I had read a few reviews that mentioned this fact so just in case along with my order I got this Anker Powerline II USB-C to USB-C cable: https://amzn.to/3gK8reu It sucks to have to spend an additional $10-20 for a cable to be able to use a product that should included a good one but....Oh well. The included ADAPTER is GREAT perfectly fine with the Anker cable. It locks/clicks in place as it should. But the included WD cable just falls out/is very loose and will not work. I made sure to line up the arrows on the cable. Tried it on my laptop USB-C port and the WD HDD and my Android cell phone all of which have USB-C ports and it did NOT work / lock in pla ce. I will be contacting both Amazon and WD to complain about this. Not acceptable. Terrible Quality control to not test the fit of the cable to a mating device. 3) I ran benchmark tests using Crystal DiskMark 7.00 x64 bit to test the empty drive out. I ran two scenarios. One going direct from laptop USB-C port to USB-C port on WD HDD (no adapter) and one test when using the included USB-C to USB 3.1 type A adapter in between the laptop and the WD HDD. You can see the results in the attached image, Not much difference in using the USB-C port directly or the USB 3.1 port so thats good to know. Your result will vary. Im using a Dell XPS 15 hi spec machine on Windows 10 Pro Of note: The disk LED light is always flashig on the HDD even when its not reading/writing data. I think you can turn that off but my other 3 WD external HDDs dont do that. They only flash the LED light when actually reading/writing. Hope this is helpful. Keep the drive. Ditch the cable. Good luck ... show more
