  • Slick, customizable base for a DIY pico reef!
Design & App Integration Out of the box, this 2-gallon tank is incredibly sharp and compact. The app setup was completely painless, and configuring the lighting schedule took less than a few minutes. The built-in filtration and flow rate are surprisingly solid for a kit of this size, providing exactly the kind of consistent water movement you need for a tiny ecosystem. Reengineering for a Pico Reef (ATO & Heater Setup) While the included automatic feeder functions perfectly fine, it doesn't fit the needs of a marine cleanup crew setup. Instead, I used a little ingenuity to rig the tank for a saltwater macroalgae and soft coral experiment: ATO Line: I bypassed the feeder and used the existing feeder hole to neatly run my Automatic Top-Off (ATO) water tube. ATO Sensor: I found a perfect slot near the skimmer area to stably brace the ATO sensor. Heating: Space is premium in a 2-gallon setup, but I managed to slip a super-thin 5W mini heater into the back next to the filter. Pro-Tip for Wire Management: To keep everything clean, use a couple of small suction cups to secure the equipment wires down against the back glass right where they exit the rear slot. This anchors them so they don’t shift or pull when you open and close the lid, saving you from having to restuff the cords back into place every time you do maintenance. Current Status & Performance Right now, the tank is successfully cycling with an aragonite sand bed, a piece of CaribSea liferock, and a couple of macroalgae varieties (Codium and Dragon’s Breath). The water column stays pristine, the evaporation is perfectly checked by the rigged ATO, and the slick profile looks fantastic on a desktop. Final Verdict Once the cycle finishes, I’ll be introducing a few choice soft corals and a small cleanup crew. If you are an experienced hobbyist looking for a sharp, self-contained footprint to challenge yourself with a custom pico reef, this kit serves as an exceptional, highly adaptable canvas. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Quiet and well designed Quiet and well designed
The smart fish tank arrived packaged well and no broken parts. It only took a few moments to put everything together. I do not have it connected to an app yet, I'm just using the controls on top for now. The filter system is whisper quiet. I have it sitting on my work desk and you cannot hear it at all. The light settings are really neat and can be changed in color - or can put on a color show by changing automatically. The filter has 3 settings. Since I have shrimp and small neon fish, I set it to '1' (the lightest water movement). After setup, I added some mature substrate and treated water. I let it run overnight before adding any shrimp or fish to it. I added the animals and all seemed fine. All were happy exploring the new tank. 3 hours later I didn't see my neon fish and after closer inspection found them IN the tube on the side of the filter. The skimmer at the top had sucked them right in. Both Dead. :( I used cheesecloth (doubled) and attached to the filter openings on the bottom and also at skimmer level. Although this is not pretty, once my grasses grow a bit more, this won't be noticeable. This would NOT be an issue if with bigger fish though. I think this is just a typical problem with small fish and shrimp - so it would not keep me from buying this setup again. I'm only mentioning this for people to know in case you also have shrimp or small fish. The tank is 2 gallons, but the fill line is about 1.25" from the top - so you can see the water line. It may just be me, but I really like the water to go further up and not be as noticeable. With all of that said, this is one of the nicest fish tanks I have ever seen. The lid flips open if you need to get to anything inside. And when it is flipped open, the lights go off, but the filter continues to run. There is a built in auto-feeder. I do think this will work great. there is also a built in thermometer somewhere because the temperature readout works great. From reading the manual, I do believe the app will provide even more options for lighting. I'm excited to try that out too! The acrylic body is beautiful. I'd love to replace more of my existing little tanks with ones like this. It's definitely a good value for the price. I'll be buying ore of these! ... show more

  • Great Smart Tank, works really well! Great Smart Tank, works really well!
I've been using this tank for the last couple weeks and I'm very impressed. It's a complete set up, other than the substrate. I used sand from another tank because it took so little to fill the bottom of it. I set it up quick and easy. The instructions explained everything well. One complication with small tanks like this is what you can put in it. Currently I have snails and plan to put cherry shrimp. The filtration system it comes with has lots of sponge material built into it. One issue I noticed that I haven't solved is that the sponge at the very bottom of the filter cannot be accessed or cleaned. I'm not sure if I'm missing something there. I looked in the instructions and could not find how to access it. The instructions showed how to remove and clean the other sponge but not the very bottom one. The app it comes with is quite intuitive and self-explanatory. You can control the light, light color, timer, feeding schedule with the auto feeder, the pump speed, and it even has a feature to automatically turn the filter pump off for 3 minutes during feeding to allow the food to sink before turning back on. The light is also a full spectrum grow light so you can grow live plants in the tank. It looks really cool, one thing that is displayed in the product picture is that there is always about an inch of air above the water line for the water filter to operate correctly. Also the VIVOSUN logo is displayed in front permanently. The auto feeder operates well, and doses very small amounts if you want it to. You can control the quantity it feeds via the app and how often it feeds. I highly recommend this product, it's a quality construction, sleek design, and works flawlessly. ... show more

  • Good nano tank
Ok, I have to admit this is the nicest small aquarium I've seen in my whole life. It has everything you need except the heater. If you decide to put a heater inside there is still a little gap on top of the filter so a cable can pass through. What I like about this fish tank is that there is a detachable auto fish feeder, a nice light where the timer can be programmed through the app so you can put live plants, and a decent internal filter. There is no instruction on how to disassemble the filter pump to clean it. Looks like if the pump is dirty you will have to find a way to force open the box, but I will figure it out later when it is dirty. Despite being a beautiful modern nano tank, the feeding unit feeds too much food. Even the smallest portion drops too much food so if you have only 1 betta inside, it is going to be too much dropped food, and will foul the water causing you to go back to hand feeding. If you have to go back to hand feeding your fish, it may not be worth the price. ... show more

  • Quality Aquarium, Nice Features, Beautiful Look!
This brand is new to me and honestly this aquarium is much nicer than I expected for the price! I have been an aquarium hobbyist for several years and I only use glass aquariums and not acrylic. The glass on this aquarium is thick, clear and bright. The top fits very securely, reducing water evaporation. The included instruction booklet is easy to understand. The pump/lid assembly was fairly easy and took about 15 minutes in total to get everything up and running. This aquarium has an in tank filtration system that is whisper quiet. The pump has 3 levels but honestly I think the lowest setting is more than adequate considering the small 2 gallon size. The lid and app have a temperature monitor but the aquarium has no actual heater. One of my favorite features is the light. You can adjust the color and brightness. The RGB options are a really nice touch that make this look so much fun, especially considering your decoration choices. I have this tank set-up on my kitchen counter and the floating base on this aquarium makes it easy to slide around when needed. The automatic feeder works well and the timer would be nice for when you're on vacation. If you don't want to use the app, you can still use all of the features except some of the color gradients and dimming options. My only complaint is that I don't love the large logo on the front of the lid. Other than that, I really do love this little aquarium and I definitely recommend it. The price is on par with other similar sized smart aquariums. I will note that this aquarium is small and suitable for a couple of snails, shrimp or maybe 1-2 nano fish. I hope that manufacturer will expand the line and offer this aquarium is more sizes. ... show more

  • Many display and maintenance options, no heater option
I love how this tank looks. The square shape is really attractive, and the lid fits seamlessly with a crisp seal and digital display that give it a really sophisticated edge. The feeder storage tank is easily removed and cleaned, and the options and setting are easily cycled through either on the tank or in the app. There are multiple options for lighting, including a plant light, which I find delightful because I plan on heavily planing it. I do like that it has several flow strength options, as it's going to temporarily house fry once the nitrogen cycle is done stabilizing. I don't like that there is no heater, and with the efficiency of the seal on the lid, theres no ability to add one either. The cord has nowhere to come out. The plug/power supply setup is unique, it has one plus that powers the lights, filter, and feeder, and I luke that a LOT. No more needing 5 different cords for one tank setup! ... show more

  • What a waste of time
After spending time washing the gravel, rinsing everything, setting up the decorations, filling the tank, and getting excited to finally start my aquarium, I discovered the power does not work at all. Now I have to drain the water, take everything apart, dry it all out, pack it back up, and return it. What should have been a fun setup turned into a complete waste of time. This is the second fish tank I have purchased on Amazon that has had a major issue right out of the box. Extremely disappointing. Worst of the worst!!! ... show more

  • Smart Desktop Tank Perfect for a High-Tech Workspace Setup
If you want a clean, high-tech nano tank for your desk that doesn't require constant babysitting, this 2-gallon smart setup is awesome. The 5mm PPG glass is incredibly clear, giving you a sharp, panoramic view of a betta, some shrimp, or nano fish without that cheap, distorted plastic look you get from basic starter kits. The real selling point here is the app integration. Being able to remotely track the water temperature in real-time and adjust the pump speed from your phone makes managing a small volume of water way less stressful. Small tanks are notorious for temperature swings, so the live tracking acts as a massive safety net. The built-in automatic feeder is also solid, handling precise portion control and schedules for when you are stuck away from home or just dialed into a long gaming session. Plus, the full-spectrum RGB lighting lets you customize the color modes to match your desktop theme while keeping low-tech live plants like Java fern or moss perfectly healthy. The lift-friendly base design is another great touch—the light automatically cuts out when you open it up for tank maintenance so you aren't blinded while cleaning. It's a premium, compact ecosystem that fits right onto a workspace without hogging desk space. Just remember it does not come with a heating element. ... show more
