I set up a planted/dirted tank in this. I use the included Hang on back filter part of the time and I also mostly rely on a different sponge filter. The tank is great. The light strip for me in the 29 gallon tank was a single and solid hard plastic strip and clips into the lid. It's fantastic. It does have a rocker switch to turn it on and off but I just hooked it up to a wifi plug so I could set a schedule. The lid is cheap plastic like others have said but it works just fine. It's not like you've got fish dancing on top of it. It's not going to break The filter for me is fairly quiet. You can hear the impeller if you listen for it but the sound of the waterfall, even when it's just a short fall, drowns that out for me. I can't think of anything negative to say about this tank. It brough some great looking fish into my home and I'm exited to see what else I can add ... show more

I have about 40 years of experience with aquariums. This kit comes with what you need to get started. The LED light is particularly bright and the fully opening hood makes it easy to clean the glass. The power filter is a little small for my liking, usually I get the large size Tetra filter for a 10 gallon, this uses the medium filter cartridge. This was a terrible purchase. Poorly made. The tank was acceptable. The rest of the set-up is garbage ! The pump was hard to set up, the instructions were useless! The pump is noisy. The hood is flimsy. The led light strip needed to be attached with little 'channel clip thingys', and they broke off with slight touch. There are more clips attached to the power cord..... God knows what they are for, again no instructions. I didn't need the heat tube so I can't say anything about that. I don't ever write bad reviews on products I didn't like.... but this was so bad I had to speak up. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Everything worked out great. I was replacing my old 55 tank because the brace came apart from the middle of the tank, and there were also cracks starting to form around the top and bottom of frame. Didn’t use the lights though, considering it was so close to the water, and actually IN THE TANK. Used my old hang on filters, but will keep the one in the box for emergencies.
