My cat prefers water from our bathroom faucet. We bought the fountain to discourage the behavior. He does drink from the fountain, but only if I change the water everyday. I find this product to be decent quality, but the metal is on the thin side yet not flimsy. The filter is supposed to be 5 layers, but looks like a fiber filter filled with charcoal. It appears the filter is not as the described. However, the fountain works well and meets our needs, so I give it four stars. ... show more

I’ve had 2 cats for about 2 years and have gone through 4 or 5 fountains in that time. The water gets so nasty so quickly in many but this one can easily go a week without changing the water. When it’s time to change the water, I just put it in the dishwasher and it comes out clean and sanitized. Love the stainless steel over plastic. It’s truly the quietest fountain I’ve ever had too. Funniest thing was watching kittens "explore" this strange thing! One of them kept flicking his paw into the streaming water and shaking the water off. After a short time, all three began to drink. One of them likes to sip from the stream, but I'd say within no more than half hour, all three knew where to get water. I'm going to get another one because "bully boy" loves to "elbow" (? is that even a thing with cats?) his way in even though there's plenty of room around for all. I've found that two of everything works better with my crew! Super easy, super quiet, light is nice to view water level but not really necessary if you don't want to turn it on. If you do turn it on, it is not bright enough to bother you. AND, so far (holding my breath!) they haven't turned it over or tried to take a bath in it! Did I say it's quiet? My tinitus makes more noise than the pump! :-) ... show more

We were disappointed our cat did not like this. The filters are cheaper than our previous fountain and figured this would be much easier to clean than the old plastic one. This one is a better deal and quality but she just did not use it.

I bought this to replace the plastic version I had. The plastic version lasted almost a year, but then it would occasionally start leaking, leaving a large pool of water, and wasting water. The plastic version also got dirty very quickly. So far, the stainless steel version is AMAZING! The construction of the basin will almost certainly guarantee no leaking. It’s also a lot quieter.
