At one time, finding a quality (noise-free) pet water fountain, required that you pay upwards of $79.95 and more. And even then, the motors used, and the materials used (mostly plastic), meant that you heard a constant hum from the pumps. So I've long held off even looking for pet water fountains - that is until recently. Over the past year or so, I've come to discover that any reservations I had, went away with my first purchase of one of these water fountains. Right now I have 3 of these (different designs and shapes of course), but I made sure to get the ones that use the same water pumps, filters and black charcoal bands. This is important because these Chinese-made water fountains are often made by the same company, yet marketed under different brand names. Many of these may look different, but many of the pumps used, the filters, and more are all the same internally. Now to clarify, there are different styles available that use different types of filters also. So keep this in mind as you look for some. This also saves you the hassle of having to purchase a variety of different filter shapes if you are using more than one water fountain. This Tomxcute water fountain is totally silent, holds a good amount of water (I check on it weekly), and once filled, you can just forget about it - I'd say for up to a week. It's always good to check water levels and wipe down the interior as the metal coverings can get a bit slimy after a period of 10 days to 2 weeks. The filters do a good job of keeping the water clean, catching animal fur and other debris, and your cats/dogs can become quite used to using these types of fountains in no time at all. In my opinion, it's always better to get the stainless steel versions, rather than paying for a plastic fountain (where you can hear the pump noise much more clearly plastic tends to rattle more). As an aside, I also have 2 other water fountains, shaped differently, but the pumps and the filters are the same, so it worked out superbly (I have 4 cats). The bottom line is that these types of water fountains are inexpensive, are built quite well, are easy to maintain and clean, and the cats take to them quickly. When you have picky fur babies, the water they drink becomes even more important. I first purchased this almost three years ago. It worked through 2 large dogs and a cat, all of whom wanted - no, demanded! - fresh water instead of water in a bowl. The overall design of this fountain is durable and easy to set up, but after almost three years the pump gave up. Originally I was going to order a replacement pump but then I saw the entire fountain was discounted at the time I was searching, so I went ahead and ordered a new one. My finicky housemates are happy again! I'll be purchasing a replacement pump to have on hand, and also one so I can have the fountain in two locations. This fountain is worth the cost. ... show more

We've gotten other water bowls and this has been my favorite so far. The metal bowl is much better for our cats than the plastic water fountains in the past. Easy to clean and replace filters. It has a little light that helps to see the dish at night; we've had some in the past that are so bright they wake us up at night. Only complaint is you can't see the water line unless you pick the top up, most the time not an issue because i can hear when the water is hitting the metal and that means it's getting low. UPDATE: I reached out to the company, and they promptly sent me a replacement pump. Great customer service. First, the good: my cats definitely like this and drink more water. It holds a lot of water, and the pump is silent (especially when it stops working). It's not the easiest to clean, but I don't have a large dishwasher, and the little connectors do grow slime despite being scrubbed in hot soapy water every week. I've found a WaterPik cleans that best. The pump pads are economical and easy to find; I change them every two weeks. Which brings me to the pump. The impeller (the portion that pushes the water) is magnetic and simply holds in place by that magnetism. You simply catch hold of a blade and pull it out to clean, and it snaps back in when done. I use the included brush to scrub the pump inside and out each week. However, after three months the impeller stuck to one side of the housing rather than floating freely, so it wouldn't spin. To get it working was easy, though - while plugged in pull down the pre-filter, open the door and use a small object to free the blades. That worked OK for a while, but now it's noisy enough that my skittish cat is avoiding it. I also know from years of having a pond that the sound means that the pump is failing. I've contacted the seller about the two year warranty and will update. In the meantime, I'm buying another pump, which hopefully will last longer. ... show more

My cat loves moving water, but I’ve been hesitant to get her a fountain because I want to avoid the noise and maintenance of a one. I saw this one on sale and gave it a try - I’m very impressed! I’ve had it for two weeks now and it’s so quiet, I forget it’s there. The maintenance has been simple, too, and it’s easy to clean. I’m glad I went with the smaller of the two options; my cat is about 7 lbs. and the water this fountain holds is plenty for her. Because it has a filter and keeps the water moving, I’ve found that I don’t have to change her water as much as before, so it’s actually made my life (and my cat’s life!) easier and cleaner. I’m sure there are plenty of great cat fountains out there, but this is the one I picked and it’s been great! ... show more
