The stand is stable, thus safe to use, and it blasts hot air in close vicinity. We tried this in our unheated 160 sq ft sunroom for an hour on max. The temperature rose from the high 40's into the mid 50's near the heater but it wasn't comfortable around the perimeter. We decided we just need a stronger heater for that area. We have also tried it as supplemental heat in our 14x14 living room which is open to other rooms. Close to the heater the temperature rises but it can't handle the entire space as described. This will be helpful in our unheated basement when we need heat in a small area where we are working. ... show more

In my 46 years as an adult I have owned probably twenty space heaters and have used them in conditions from mild southern winters to extreme frigid New England winters. This is by far the most powerful heater I have ever encountered. I waited until we had a cool night. Where I live we have mild winters but I was eager to try this out. The ambient temperature indoors was 58 degrees so not terribly cool to start with. It took about ten minutes to heat a 400 square foot space including five separate rooms to 70 degrees and less than ten additional minutes to get the temperature up over 80. That's on the lower setting of 750 watts. I did not test the 1500 watt setting because I don't know if my outlets are rated for that much juice. I am waiting delivery of a line tester and when I get that I will see if it's safe to run this at the higher setting. I strongly urge you NOT to try the higher setting unless you are certain your outlet is wired for at least 20 amps. I would say this could probably be used in a commercial space up to say 800+ square feet as the sole source of heat for up to 12 hours a day. That would take care of many small business needs for heat. Though I do not recommend this type of device as a permanent heat source for any building. Portable heaters should only be auxiliary or temporary heat sources anyways. But this one might prove me wrong as it is very heavy duty. I won't know for sure how long this will last until I've had it for a season or two. I am just very impressed by what this has done so far. In my small southern located home this will provide all the heat I need. This has two nice features other heaters have not had. This will automatically shut off after a set time and you can set the time in one hour increments up to 12 hours. Other models have had shut off timers and those are usually not more than one or two hours at best. Based on this, I feel confident that I could use this over night on a frigid evening though even at the low setting it's overkill for most of the time for my small place. The other feature is if you have this set up in the middle of your bedroom (a very large bedroom in a very cold winter night or you will roast) and you want to turn it on or off you have a remote that does that for you. Once I'm in bed I hate getting up so I really like that feature. Bottom line I highly recommend this as a heavy duty space heater that will out perform most other space heaters. ... show more
