  • Very sturdy but makes a popping noise
Color: Wood Board
I found purchased this after having ankle surgery to help with home physical therapy. This is a great tool to work on foot strength and ankle mobility. The top seems to almost have a sand paper type finish for traction to keep your foot from sliding off. I wouldn't use this in just socks as it would snag the material so I use it bare foot. It seems to be very sturdy but I would be careful using it on a slick finished floor as that could be slippery. My only complaint is that the bottom part makes a popping noise when I go counterclockwise in any rotation that I make. Clockwise doesn't make any noise though so I am not sure what this is about. Overall, good purchase for the price. ... show more

  • Helping my vertigo
Color: Wood Board
I’ve been to vestibular therapy three times in the past 10 years. Each time the therapists have had me use this disk. What I’m finding in regard to my “disease “ is that I must constantly do vestibular exercises. It is very helpful and being able to use at home any time is preferable.

  • Very high quality balance board
Color: Wood Board
This balance board is similar to the ones that private trainers have in their gyms. The board is designed to increase balance and proprioception. This particular board feels a bit higher off the ground, which means you have more opportunities to try to control your balance before the board tilts all the way to the floor. I rarely write reviews, but this balance board deserves a shout out so that people know about it. I’m an RN and have used these types of devices in the gym. Sending you my highest endorsement. ... show more

  • Wide enough for Standing Desk Work
Color: Wood Board
I stand on this while working from home at a standing desk -- it's wide enough to comfortably stand with my feet shoulder-width apart (I'm 6' and mostly legs). Very solid construction, and high-quality grip material.

  • Insane workout of Pecs (Chest)!
Color: Wood Board
Insane workout of Pecs (Chest). The improvement of my Pecs after only 3 days of workout was insane. I bought this board to do balancing (vestibular) leg exercises because of 100% hearing loss in one ear. Because of hearing lost I have balance issues. My physical therapist recommended it. I then looked at exercise diagrams and started using it to do pushups and my chest development was insane after only 300 pushups later. A 5 star!! ... show more

  • Excellent
Color: Wood Board
Product is versatile, with mutiple uses ranging from physical therapy to kicking your calisthenics up several notches by adding balancing (and with it, engagement of the trembly stabilization muscles that are usually so hard to activate yet crucial for injury prevention in any sport). I plan to use it to accompany my standing desk at work, because standing all day, contrary to the new slogan that "standing is the new smoking," can actually be unhealthy; frequent movement is better. At first, standing on this board seemed about as impossible as skateboarding (to somebody who has never done either), but within an hour I got it and have been able to work at my desk without thinking about my balance for hours. After getting off at day's end, my core feels more engaged, my leg muscles feel like they've been active, and I have the feeling one gets after a long day in the ocean--the back-and-forth, wavy feeling. This makes me think the board is actually doing something subliminal to my muscles, which is interesting because I was able to forget about it entirely while working. I look forward to trying it out for stretches and exercises at the gym, as well. It arrived promptly and in great condition, and is balanced. Reviews of other products complain that the range of motion is only back-and-forth; this allows for falling over in a 360* circumference if you're not balancing properly. It's the real deal. ... show more

  • Use with caution! Fractured my foot using this.
Color: Wood Board
I don’t like to leave a bad review, but if it prevents someone else from getting injured, it will be worthwhile. First of all this is a very solid and attractive item. The wood is beautiful and I think it is made in the USA. It also has a nice sandpaper type textured surface so that your feet don’t slip. It arrived on time and was nicely packaged. In August, I had a devastating injury to my left ankle and I have a metal plate and 12 screws holding it together. The recovery has been slow and painful and I have been pretty depressed about my limited mobility. So, buying this board seemed a good way to do some home rehab and put my ankle through some good range of motion. So last night I used the balance board in the living area of the RV I live in. For safety I was holding on to my countertop. I started off tilting my feet north, south east and west. Then I did a clock face. Then I leaned far to the right and then far to the left. It was then that the board slid very quickly on the vinyl floor and it was so fast that I lost my grip on the countertop and fell very forcefully. My left foot and big toe slammed hard into the kitchen island and I was in great pain. Today I went to Urgent Care for X-rays and I have a fracture of the metatarsal [biggest bone in the foot which connects the big toe and the big toe joint] and also some bone chips broken from the tip of my toe. Being an Urgent Care with only a PA on duty, he said he needed a radiologist to look at it because the metatarsal may be out of alignment. The radiologist won’t see it till Monday. I was scheduled to have surgery again on December 3rd to remove 2 of the largest screws. Probably that is not going happen now. It is NOT safe to use the balance board on a hard, smooth surface. The surface which touches the floor does not have any traction. It would be best to use this on a carpet. The piece that comes in contact with the floor should be rubber or other slip resistant surface Fortunately my ankle fractures and my 12 screws seem to be ok. Unfortunately, the big toe is what helps us keep our balance. So, I am in a bad situation and it has really gotten me down. I could cry. I am the first to admit that I am a klutz. For all I know, all balance boards are made the very same way. Maybe I should have known better. All I would like is to see a BIG warning on the balance board instructions that explains that the board may slip if used on a hard surface and that injured people are at especially high risk. Sorry for the long review. I guess I needed to vent. ... show more
