My first experience with the balance pad was incredibility positive & I could tell I would benefit from this product. It is everything it is advertised as a product & more. The booklet that came with recommended ways to use the pad which I am able to adopt to my needs/use. For good measure I contacted the support email address to make sure I had all the instructions for use & the response was within 24hrs. I explained how I wanted to incorporate the balance pad during my work day with my adjustable desk & add'l recommendations/suggestions were made that really helped. I will most likely be purchasing another extra large pad so I can keep one at my desk. I first found out about this product from the Bob & Brad physical therapists you tube videos. Thank you so much for all the fantastic support, products & doing this so fantastically online. A very happy consumer now living with less pain. :-) ... show more

My PT had me use one of these at my last session. Since he has cut me loose from appointments to do exercises at home I wanted to be able to purchase one of these to have at home so I could continue to do the exercises uninterrupted. The next day he sent me an email with an ebook with exercises to do with the bonus yoga strap that was included with the balance mat.     • Easiest inexpensive tool to seriously practice your balance

Same product as I used in physical therapy. Lightweight and challenging for my balance practice. Can take it when I travel too. Pleasing blue color. Sturdy. Recoils well from the pressure of standing on it. I made a silly mistake and kept it momentarily near the baseboard heater and it now has the footprint of my sneaker insole. Wasn’t flammable, just warmed. It’s more useful to practice balance than the gadgets they sell for hundreds of dollars to rock back and forth on. Small pamphlet included provides additional ideas to challenge yourself. Worth it. Included stretch strap can be used for stretching but it has the metal loop on the end and is actually one of the belts that the therapist puts around your waist to hold onto you so you can’t fall. You may not need it at home but it is an added bonus. ... show more

I ordered this to use for physical therapy after I had ankle replacement surgery. I was doing physical therapy twice a week but just wasn't progressing much just using the therabands when I did my exercises at home. I ordered this thick foam pad to help me build strength in my ankle and foot. It has done a great job. It is very thick and well made. It always bounces right back into shape once I get off of it, and it really holds up while I'm standing on it, and I'm not a lightweight. My ankle and foot muscles have finally started showing some significant improvement and I'm certain it's from using this foam pad. I just stand on it and shift my weight from both feet over to just the one foot, slowly so that my muscles have time to adjust. I already have plans to use it in my yoga practice once I can get back to that kind of stress on my ankle joint. I highly recommend this foam pad. ... show more

I would like to add a comment to my original review. The seller contacted us immediately in a most concerned way and offered us another balance mat so that we could attach the two and make it big enough to accommodate the front to back foot placement needed for my therapy balance exercises. That is a huge help, and that gesture is very appreciated. We would like to thank Pete's Choice again for the genuine interest in our situation and their generous solution. Robert Temme This pad is only 13 1/2" x 15 1/2". I looked for the size before we purchased but did not see it written anywhere - nor on the other balance pads listed on Amazon. But gave it a chance. It is impossible to place one foot in front of the other for balance exercises. I don't see anything substantial about this pad.     • Very stable... too stable for athletes

The product is about 2" thick, and therefore can only provide so much "sinking in" -- the sinking in when balancing on one foot is what strengthens the ankle and prevents ankle sprains in the future. This pad would only be good for beginner working on ankle mobility. If you are an athlete working on dynamic ankle movements and strengthening you'll need a thicker pad. If I could do it all over again, I would spend the extra few bucks and buy a thicker pad. The stretching strap seems fine. But I feel it was a gimmick included to convince you to buy a suboptimal pad. =/ ... show more
