We live on a lake and must constantly remove floating weeds from our frontage. There are big rakes, one of which we have, but they are heavy and cumbersome to work with, so we use a smaller landscaping type rake most of the time...but the problem is the handles are short, make of wood, and will eventually rot, split and have to be replaced. I cut the rake head off an old one, fitted it on this handle, and now have the greatest lake rake in the world. I would not recommend buying this pole. Over time the locking mechanisms stops holding the pole extended (6 months for mine) and it just keeps slipping to the one length about 5. Look for poles which have a flip lock similar to a paint pole it’s what my Pool Services Company uses to clean my pool.

I hate to write a negative review. But I would not recommend this pool pole. If it were the only item of its kind on the market, I'd say go ahead. But relative to comparable products, it just does not serve it's given purpose very well. And it really boils down to one thing... sturdiness or strength. It is remarkably flimsy. Using it with a vacuum head, a brush, or a net is very difficult because it bends. And if you envision putting a life saver on it to pull someone from the water, don't bet your life or anyone else's on it. Not only is the pole itself flimsy, but the two extension joints are less than reliable. They slip and it comes apart. To be fair, it is much more usable if not extended. Fully collapsed to it's base length, it is sturdy enough. But of course you don't get much reach. ... show more

I purchased this because the more expensive one I had been using for a year would not stay tight. When you tighten it it should not push in when you are brushing pool and the old one would not stay put thus could not push it along without it pushing in. So the new one should last awhile but it wiggles more. ... show more
