Style: Pool Maintenance Kit
Oh. My. Goodness. I couldn't wait for this to get here. And it arrived a day early. Thank God, because I have had my pool up for about a month now and no brush or vacuum. And obviously the pool is under trees :) as you can imagine that long without a either, I had 2 separate issues with algae. Thankfully the trees aren't making too much of a mess. In either case I opened this box the moment it got here and honestly took a step back at how great the quality was. The pole is really heavy duty. With 2 separate sections to lengthen it. That keeps it nice and sturdy. And it's thick. Everything went together perfect. No issues. I have well water so I needed a vacuum that didn't use a garden hose adding water and I wasn't going to have to take 10 steps to make work. This holds all the dirt and pine needles in the bag, which is inside a housing that then sucks the water thru to the filter. Now I knew I had lots of pine tree junk on the floor, but we only used the pool maybe 3 times. And never going in and out. I was shocked at the amount of sand that went thru the filter. But that was no biggie. I just rinsed the pool filter when I was done. In the photos and video you can see the piles of nasty stuff. I vacuumed around them so you could see them better. They are at least a inch high. Thick and heavy. I used the vacuum head without the brushes first. Do you see how fast that little head did that :) and without making it a mess and floating all over. If anyone tells you this set isn't worth it. They are wrong . *Edit: I just upgraded from the original filter the pool came with to a 2100gph sand filter. And oh my, the suction is even better than before. So take into consideration what you have for a filter when using this. *** Tho a note to intex. ... I find it horrible that you were selling this at a decent price. And then a week ago you jacked the price up because you started selling so many for the summer. Shame on you. If I wasn't so desperate my pride would have had me look elsewhere. [...] Thank you. ... show more

  • Worth the money! Works very well!
Style: Pool Maintenance Kit
We purchased a sand filter at the beginning of the season. We loved the filter as it circulated the water much much better than the filter that came with the pool! We have an 18' Intex metal frame pool. We purchased another vacuum from a box store, but even with an adaptor, I couldn't get it to work properly due to air remaining in the line and the hoses would NOT fit properly. After researching further, I decided to purchase this kit-knowing it was at least the same brand as the pool and should work. The package came quickly and in perfect condition. I was anxious to try it out, so I quickly opened it and headed to the pool. I had researched online how to get air out of the line-put hose to the return to allow hose to fill up with water-quickly take hose to the suction and attach. However, I still had issues keeping air out of the line. I would prime the pump again and again and was ready to scream! Finally, I read on someone's review to use the little bitty plastic cap that looks like a plug for a float. It should be in the bag that came with the pool. I had 2 of them. Place that over the air valve at the top of the inlet valve and wallah!!! It worked! I usually have to prime the pump at least once initially, but I've learned how to do it pretty quickly. This vacuum works beautifully. I typically use the larger one that has the filter inside of it. It picks up a lot of debris. When we have a lot of leaves, I have to empty it once while doing the whole pool, but it is fairly easy. I was skeptical initially thinking this is just a dinky kit. However, I have been pleasantly surprised. The pole is of good quality (unlike the cheap, flimsy one that comes with most), the brush is excellent and the hose and vacuum work well. I have no complaints with this product. I wish I had found it sooner. I haven't used the leaf net, so I can't report on that. I have used it for several months now, so I feel like I've given it time to report on it accurately. It's definitely better than the one where the hose attaches. I was tired of dragging the hose around the pool all of the time! ... show more

  • Not just a review of this pool cleaning kit, but several related accessories as well.
Style: Pool Maintenance Kit
This is from the description of my YouTube video on this pool cleaning kit and several other accessories. You can find it by searching "2017 review Intex 18x9 ultra frame pool, Confer 7200 Ladder, Krystal Clear Salt Water System & More!" I searched and searched, and I couldn't for the life of me find all this information collected in one place. Here's everything you'll need and want to have a good experience with this pool. I hope it helps. In this review and overview I tackle the excellent Intex 18' x 19' x 52" Rectangular Above Ground Ultra-Frame Pool (bought new on eBay for $820), along with several of the accessories you might consider as you make the purchase. I also cover some of the things you might not know you need in advance. Quick review on the pool: 9/10. Sets up very straightforwardly if you prep well (leveling ground is essential, not optional or something to be lazy about), follow instructions, and watch assembly videos on YouTube or the included DVDs. In fact, watch all the DVDs for this stuff. It's worth your time. I have a feeling that not taking the extra step to educate ourselves it was divides the people who have terrible experiences with this pool (and all the accessories) versus great experiences. We love our pool. Only complaint is the included ladder. It's unstable, cheap, and dangerous for anyone over 75 pounds. Either reinforce it or upgrade it. Note: overall I have about $1,400 into this pool, nearly doubling its original cost. This is stuff you really need to factor in. You'll hear about the following accessories: 1. Confer Plastics A-Frame 7200 Above Ground Adjustable Pool Roll-Guard Safety Ladder (bought on Amazon for $177). Quick review: 10/10. It's hard to find information about it, so I'm making it clear here: with some super easy modifications, you can use this ladder with the Ultra-Frame pool with great success. This ladder was a huge difference for us since it gave older members of the family the ability to safely get in and out of the pool. Plus, the lockable roll-up door gives us extra piece of mind about the kids. 2. Intex Krystal Clear Cartridge Filter Pump & Saltwater System with E.C.O. (Electrocatalytic Oxidation) for Above Ground Pools, 110-120V with GFCI (bought on Amazon for about $135, though the price fluctuates). Quick review 8.5/10. It's a must-have for me since it pays for itself in chlorine and maintenance savings. It does require that you pay close attention to pump performance and salt dilution. Neither of these are bad things since you should be maintaining your pump and water chemistry anyway. 3. Intex Deluxe Pool Maintentance Kit for Above Ground Pools (bought on Amazon for about $28, though the price fluctuates). Quick review: 7/10. Components are of surprisingly solid quality, vacuum tricky to get working and really tiny, but it gets the job done for me. 4. Intex Deluxe Wall Mount Surface Skimmer (bought on Amazon for about $20). Quick review: 4/10. Awesome when it works, too finicky to do so consistently. 5. Intex LED Pool Wall Light, 110-120V (bought on Amazon for about $45). Quick review: 10/10. This thing is awesome. Could use a switch, but not a big deal since it's draws so little.) Stuff you shouldn't forget: 1. Pool filter sand. It's specific to pool filters, available st Home Depot and most hardware stores, and it's not optional. You'll need under 20 pounds. Costs about $8. 2. General purpose, play sand or similar is strongly recommended as the final leveling underlayment for the pool. Really nice on the foot and protects liner. I don't use the included liner. AstroTurf and sand works great for us. Costs less than $4/60lb bag, I used 7). 3. Salt for pool if you get the strongly recommended saltwater system. This pool is roughly 4,500 gallons and requires 115 pounds of salt, no more, no less. Look carefully at tables included in manual. You definitely don't want too much. Costs about $9/40lb bag. Don't be lazy and add the extra 5 pounds or you'll have to overfill and drain about 300 gallons from your pool to get the system working properly. 4. Stabilizer for pool (cyanuric acid). Again, the saltwater system requires this and has tables to help you determine how much. It helps maintain chlorine content for longer. Costs less than $20. 5. Pool water test kit. Home Depot has these for less than $15. 6. Good thermometer. My floating ducky cost $8 at Home Depot. 7. A quality of at least 12-15 1" wide x 8"-12" Velcro straps with buckles. You'll need these to secure the ladder and various hoses. Super helpful. Costs less than $20. 8. Minimum 14-gauge extension cord if needed to run equipment to outlets. Needs to be as short as possible and the widest gauge you can afford. Could easily cost $30-$75. ... show more

  • Great Buy!!! (Buy a better quality hose)
Style: Pool Maintenance Kit
Love this product! In the past I have struggled with the water hose attached vacuum not removing the finer partials, leaving the pool a mess! Since this connects directly to the pump, it gets everything. This year's pool maintenance has been so much easier! I actually enjoy vacuuming. I like the fact that it comes with both a brushing vacuum head and one without brushes. I am able to use the brushing head on the pool floor and cut time in half since I do not have to brush the pool after vacuuming. The attachment without brushes works well on the walls and to remove algae once a clarifier has been used. It help not to disturb the clumping and sucks it straight to the pump. A few notes on how to use... * Make sure to get ALL air out of the hose before turning on the pump to keep from running it dry! The process is simple enough, just hold one end of the hose under water and the other out while pulling from the end under water until you get to the entire hose under water. The hose will pop back up but all water will be out. Then attach to nozzle and vacuum without letting either end come above the water. * Invest in a better quality hose!!! The hose that comes in the kit is not very ridged and after a few uses weakens to the point of collapse. This is heart breaking when you are in the process of cleaning an algae outbreak!!! * Clean filter bag often when vacuuming leaves! Purchasing a backup filter bag is a good idea too... Over all this is a great product that I recommend. The reason I only gave it 3 stars is the NEED to purchase a different hose because the one it comes with only lasts a short time until it weakens and collapses. ... show more

  • love the attachments
Style: Pool Maintenance Kit
it has worked great to keep my pool clean. We have utilized the vacuum the most, attaching it to our sand pump to filter everything out to waste. I love that it has the brush attached. We used it to open our pool for the summer so far, and using the net to get out debris since then.

  • Worth every penny just for the vacuum! Worth every penny just for the vacuum!
Style: Pool Maintenance Kit
I'm giving this product 5 stars based on the fact that for a relatively cheap kit that comes with this many items in it, it's totally worth the investment! If you were to buy a skimmer and pole alone, you'd be spending almost as much as you do buying this kit. That being said, my only complaint is that I wish the holes in the mesh lining of the skimmer were smaller. It doesn't pick up small gnats and tiny debris. I bought this set mainly because it came with a vacuum. Let me just tell you that my pool floor was disgusting. Last year, I had a standard garden hose method vacuum that came with my pool and it never worked for me, so I knew that I wanted to purchase a better vacuum this year. However, I wasn't willing to fork over hundreds of dollars for a vacuum. Nope. This Intex vacuum is excellent- that is, once you correctly follow the instructions and quit making goofy operator errors like I did. My Coleman 18x48 above ground has 2 inlet openings and 1 outlet opening. I had no clue that I could unscrew the inlet plugs to fit the hose adapter to it! So, initially, I placed the adapter on the OUTLET! Oops. The vacuum kept coming apart and water was spewing out of the sides and it took me 2 hours to realize what I had done. Once I placed the adapter on an Inlet attachment, things started falling into place. Next, I had to put the plug into the second inlet hole, otherwise there was not enough pressure in the water to get the vacuum to suck up the debris. When placing the hose in the water, you must first attach the hose to the vacuum and submerge the vacuum, then began placing the hose deep into the water STARTING NEAREST TO THE VACUUM. Do not just throw the entire hose in and expect it to fill. As you pull the hose in about a foot at a time, it will fill. Once you reach the other end, water should begin coming up through it. If you still have a lot of air in the hose, turn on your pool pump and place the end of the hose up against the outlet to push water through the hose for about a minute. Keep the hose under water and move it over to the inlet adapter and place it on the adapter. Voila! Also, very important to now release the air on your filter pump. You may need to do this repeatively, as it will help keep the suction pressure high and keep from damaging your pump. When your waste basket gets full, turn off your pump and pull the hose off of the vacuum, and clean the basket using a garden hose. Before continuing to clean the pool, you must pull the hose out and start at step one with submerging the hose and releasing air from it before turning on the pump again and continuing. So there you go. My mistakes took me 5 hours before getting this simple vacuum to work, but once I slowed down and figured it out, it only took me about 2 more hours to clean the pool (mine was very dirty as this is the first time it's been thoroughly cleaned.) I'm very satisfied with the results! 1. Hook hose up to the INLET! 2. Plug up the 2nd inlet (if you have 2). 3. Submerge the hose a little bit at a time starting with the end closest to the vacuum. 4. Release any additional air by holding hose onto the OUTLET once pump is running. 5. Release the air that got into your pump/filter area. I hope this helps those of you who look at this pool cleaning business as rocket science. I know it's pretty new to me and mistakes are bound to occur, but once you get the steps down, this vacuum really is the bomb dot com! And it's totally worth the money! ... show more

  • Doesn't Suck
Style: Pool Maintenance Kit
I'm a mechanical engineer, so I can tell you with certainty that whoever designed this pool vacuum is either stupid, or does not care about doing a good job. The problems with the design of this product could have been solved easily, without increasing the cost to produce it. So the designers are either bad at their jobs, or they don't care. 1) The vacuum head does not produce very much suction. This is primarily due to a loose-fitting connection between the vacuum housing and the hose which leads back to the inlet port of the filter. Suction can be improved by adding Gorilla Tape around the connector, but it's a partial fix. The suction is so poor, that the brush head is useless. The flat nozzle head is usable, but still not very effective. 2) The vacuum housing assembly is prone to self-disassembly. The clear dome which holds the debris bag will come apart from the housing with less than a quarter-twist, and does not lock into place when you attach it. It should be designed to snap firmly into place, like food processor bowls do. It doesn't. It relies on an insufficient friction fit instead of a snap fit. So when you're vacuuming your pool, you have to be very careful not to apply any counter-clockwise twist to the pole, or the vacuum head will detach from the housing and spill its contents back into your pool. This would not have been hard to fix in the design of the plastic parts, but it isn't possible to fix as the consumer. Since you need to detach this part regularly to empty the debris bag, you can't just tape it or glue it shut. It's possible to train yourself to use the vacuum in a way that it won't come apart, but the poor suction is what it is. Also, the nub where the pole connects to the housing is too short, so it wobbles inside the pole. Not a deal-breaker, but it's another example of shoddy engineering. 3) Another deficiency, though minor, is that if your pool has a dual-inlet filter design, you'll need to use a provided plug to stopper one of the inlets. This isn't explained in the instructions, although the required plug IS included (and three similar plugs shipped with my pool, also without instructions). 4) The skimmer net is less effective than a butterfly net I bought at the Dollar Store. The net is too deep, so it has a lot of drag through the water and is difficult to empty. Worse, the netting is too coarse, so small debris flows right through. Pine needles often slip right through, and small bugs pass through easily. The only good part of this kit is the telescoping pole. It has no problems. ... show more

  • Works Great - Here's Some Tips & Suggestions
Style: Pool Maintenance Kit
I read most of the positive and negative reviews for this vacuum. If used properly rather than carelessly, the vacuum works amazing. Much of the negative reviews talk of certain connecting areas of the product breaking or snapping. They also speak of the vac body where the filter bag sits as being easily popped off or coming undone due to the half turn to seal the area. The vacuum isn't meant to be ripped out of the box and slammed together, if so, it will snap and break. It's plastic. It's not a carpet vac so it shouldn't be used like one inside of a pool. No pool vac should. If you take your time and properly put it together step by step and use it as every pool vacuum is meant to be used, it works fantastic. All pool vacuums should be used with a slow and steady motion to assure it will pick up all debris off the bottom of the pool. Product Parts & Assembly - The Vacuum Body- Holds the filter, connects and seals by a half turn without effort. No forcing or attempt to tightening needed whatsoever. - The Post Connection to the Vacuum Body - Clips in easy, but it's a bit loose. If used too quickly under water while vacuuming I could see how it could crack or break the Vacuum Body's Post Connection. Upon putting the entire vacuum together I saw the potential problem area and once the I connected the post to the vacuum body I taped around the area to prevent any movement. I then found a rounded rubber o-ring I had and slid it around the connection prior to sliding the post on. **My suggestion to the manufacturer would be to provide a 1/4" to a 1/2" wide gasket to slide over the connection prior to connecting the post to prevent any movement in this area. - The Post - Is sturdy and made very well. - The 2 Vacuum Heads - As is the case with the post connection to the vacuum body, **My suggestion to the manufacturer would be to provide a 1/4" to a 1/2" wide gasket to slide over the connection prior to connecting the vacuum heads to prevent any movement in this area. - The Net Skimmer - Is fantastic. - The Hose Adapter - Works great. Easy to switch out Be sure to's - When changing the strainer adapter from the skimmer adapter to the vacuum adapter always use a scrub brush to remove any remnants of debris that can get stuck to the strainer from the skimmer. *We always do this task when emptying the skimmer basket to make sure the pump is getting a steady flow. - Make sure all air is out of the hose prior to attaching it to the strainer adapter for vacuum use. Otherwise the the pump will take in air and the pump will remain somewhat half full. - Take your time vacuuming the pool. DO NOT try and vacuum like it's a carpet. Take your time and enjoy the pool while slowly vacuuming. It will pick up all the debris you have. Trying to speed the vacuuming process WILL only result in wear and tear to the vacuum and potentially break connections. ... show more
