  • Great Flash Drive!
I have been using these Transcend JetFlash 700 USB 3.1 Flash Drives for quite some time and have been very happy with their performance. I have tried others for various reasons but I like the Transcend JetFlash 700 USB 3.1 Flash Drives best!

  • Best 16GB Flash Drive I've Bought
I'm a fan of the (older, non-neutered) OCZ Diesel flash drives. I am also a fan of Transcend flash drives in general. Reading the reviews here, I was a bit worried before I purchased the 16GB JetFlash 700. I'm glad I did purchase it, though. This is the fastest performing USB flash drive I own. I've not benchmarked it to compare 'measurements' with other drives, but I also don't buy 'performance' flash drives with flashy enclosures for obscenely high prices, either. I do not own a USB 3.0 capable computer, but none of the flash drives I own (including this one) have flash chips that seem capable of exceeding the interface speed of USB 2.0, let alone USB 3.0. The folks on here complaining about USB 3.0 not making a difference with the performance of this drive are simply not familiar with the detailed reality of the technology they are using. The bottleneck is not the USB port on their computer, it's typically the flash chips. I'm using the two of these I have as diagnostic boot drives running OS X Lion, and will likely end up purchasing more of these things in the relatively near future as they are nearly as responsive as a USB 2.0 hard disk at boot. Hopefully the 32GB version will be available thru Amazon directly one of these days, as I need to update my larger capacity flash drive collection soon. ... show more

  • Thang's all 'ate' up with power!
This is a warning. Be advised, if you are searching for a slow jump drive, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY THE Transcend 16 GB JetFlash 700 Super Speed USB 3.0 Flash Drive TS16GJF700. This device is exactly like the memorable words that the NASCAR driver (can't remember him) uttered about his car, "thang's all `ate' up with power." When I first plugged it into my PC's USB, I got a message, said something like "wanna make this thing even faster with `Ready Boost'?"). So I go, "well yeah, do it, baby." Well then right after that wouldn't you know that Ready Boost loaded straightaway onto my Transcend 16 GB JetFlash 700 Super Speed USB 3.0 Flash Drive TS16GJF700 -- and BAM!!! that thang got faster than stink. So a word to the wise, if you are searching for a slow jump drive, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY THE Transcend 16 GB JetFlash 700 Super Speed USB 3.0 Flash Drive TS16GJF700. ... show more

  • Great drive for a Raspberry Pi
Works like a champ with my Raspberry Pi running Rasplex. I've installed the operating system on there and now the Raspberry Pi is much more responsive. I'm using it as a media centre and this device is perfect for that as the light is not too bright. This setup has been going the best part of a year and shows no sign of trouble. As a drive, this device is sleak, simple and clean. Works everywhere I plug it into, driverless as well. Pros: * Great design * Great speed * Works with a Raspberry Pi * Light is not obnoxious Cons: * None - (keep in mind that a con is not "another product is better") ... show more

  • Excellent Flash Drive
I have been using this Transcend USB 3.0 Flash Drive for almost a month now. I tested copying and erasing more than 2500 files, writing the time it takes to complete the job. It is pretty much acceptable. However it shows a little decrease on the copy speed as the time passes. When I press copy it can start at 16 MB/s and end at 14 Mb/Sec. Also the specification up to 90 MB/s is hardly obtained. From all the brands in existence on the market, I only choose Transcend build flash drives, they are fast and more reliably than others flash drives tested. This USB 3.0 flash drive is one of the best flash drives you can have. ... show more

  • Transcend happiness
This is still a favorite in my shop. The fact that you don't lose them easily because they're not so tiny is a plus. And, they last forever. I have used only Transcend for my personal flash drives for over 5 years because, to date, none have failed me yet. I own a 4GB, an 8GB, two 16GBs, and one 32GB. Same style and color. All are being used daily between 15 different computers that are in my shop for repair. None fail and all of them work on every computer that they're connected to. I'm extremely happy with these and, until they make something better, I won't stop buying them. ... show more

  • Ugh! Dead on Arrival
I had a similiar experience to reviewer 'rd' in Jan 2012; the flash arrived quickly but as soon as I put it into my laptop usb port, it flickered a blue light then seemed to go dead. I attempted to find a sweet spot, and during almost 15 min of trying, I was able to recreate the blue light for about 2 seconds, but only when holding the flash drive. I tried 2 different computers and same result. I have 2 other flash drives (both Transcend) and I swapped them in really quick to make sure I wasn't a problem with the USB connection, but they worked find. Sadly this 3.0 was DOA. I've always had good experiences with Amazon, and definately feel this is a rare one-off where I've received something defective, but since it seems to be a repeat issue for several people, the source must be with the product itself. Hopefully Amazon will stand behind it, but the hassle of the return shipping for such a small item pains me. On another note, for those curious, this 3.0 flash is considerably larger and more boxy than the equivalent Transcent 2.0 version. I have both, and initially was a little disspointed when receiving the 3.0 as it looks so much bigger. The 3.0 was not too big to block the side-by-side set of USB entry ports on my laptop, but it just isn't as petite as the smaller 2.0. ... show more

  • Cannot clean filesystem with detergent and super-wash-cycle at the laundromat. Otherwise, perfectly suitable thumb drive!
It was *okay* -- I bought it at the same time as my SanDisk Extreme usb 3 drive, of the same capacity and it is noticeably much slower, but it also cost roughly 1/3 the amount. It's faster than normal USB flash drives, and it was cheap. Worked reliably until it took a trip through the laundry. Not to say it advertises *anywhere* that it will survive being laundered, but I *will* say that the SanDisk survived the wash and dry cycles. ... show more
