I decided to try this softener over the Fleck that I installed in my daughter’s home last year. After reviewing the literature for the Tier1, there were several features that I found interesting over what Fleck offers. The Tier1 bypass assembly is much smaller than on the Fleck. I disliked the Fleck bypass so much that I built a bypass out of PVC on the wall behind the unit. The Tier1 bypass is more compact. The programing of the Tier1 is simplified as well. Other than these features, the units are very similar. Some may prefer Fleck for the reason that it gives you more access to detailed programing such as reserve capacity management, control of regen cycle and a lot of other minutia. There is also a more compact bypass that can be purchased for the Fleck. On the Tier1, you will need to attach the 1” adapters with a couple of red clips. This seems impossible to do. After talking to the vendor, they explained that you just have to press hard and they do go in. The instructions don’t explain this very well. Programing is very simple compared to the Fleck, but you don’t have access to all the minutia available on the Fleck if that is what floats your boat. I have this softener up and running now for 5 months and it works great. Each regen gives me about 2500 gallons of soft water that will last over a week in my household. Salt usage is very low, and I’ve only added one bag of salt since I initially installed it. ... show more

4 star cause setup was easy with shark bites but program is virtually no help with book I’m begging for help it’s at default now but it works as is just needs adjusting for my house size and my backups back wash great for price check out b4 & after water photos

I purchased this because it seemed like a good deal compared to a comparable brand-name smart valve water softener. I installed it without any problems and it works great! It seems to be of high quality, but of course, time will tell.

UPDATE 2/23/19 The customer service is the best one we have ever met. After this review The customer service contacted us right away and tried so hard to solve our problem. Because the head piece can not fit our 1" cooper pipe at home. They even send us another head piece at no extra cost that's just right for our 1" cooper pipe. But the only problem is that it is a dial one not digital one which is what we prefer. But no matter what they are trying very hard to solve our problem. They contacted us through emails or phone calls almost everyday. Unfortunately we didn't have time to setting up the softener now but will update again after it starts to work. Thank the customer service again! For their wonderful service I changed 1 star to 4 star here. If it's working well I'll give 5 star for sure! ==================================================================================== We bought this unit to replace our old one. It's should be easy to install because all the pipes and outlet are ready. The shipping is on time. But when we opened the box we found the manual is just copies not a well printed booklet. Then when we tried to install it we found the bypass valve has 3/4" threaded connection. But our copper pipe is 1'. We read many reviews here and found someone said theirs comes with 1' and 3/4' line connections. But ours only comes with 3/4" connection. Did we miss something? We read the manual thoroughly but still can not find any useful instruction. The manual is not helpful. We can not wait to try this water softner but first we need to install it properly. But so far it's a pain. Thanks and please give us any suggestions how to install it. ... show more

The install was relatively easy (for me). My installer took about 3 hours start to finish. He stated that it required a bit more assembly than he expected, however no problem. I like the electronic display- easy to read and understand. I expect the programming would be user friendly, however, the factory pre-sets are fine for me at this time. Thus far unit operates quietly and efficiently. (2 years later) I developed a problem with the brine tank overflowing after re-charge and called customer service. The woman that answered found my information immediately and after defining the problem referred me to the technical people. The next day I spoke at some length with Dana and he very specifically told me how to rectify the problem and his diagnoses was quick and correct- problem solved. I was quite impressed with the quick and accurate response from Tier 1 and certainly would give them 5 stars for service. ... show more

I am so glad I purchased this product. I was a little apprehensive about installing a softener myself, but watched a ton of videos and looked at customer reviews that made me push forward and give it a shot. I am normally a handy guy, but I had not done a softener before. Softener came in a timely manner. No damage. It was super easy to install! Just went step by step in the manual, and if that wasn't clear enough for me, the seller had many setup videos that really helped a lot. We have had it for a few months now, and we love it. I was hoping to unplug my existing and plug in the new , but….. I Just sawed the pipes off an got shark bite braided flex hoses and made for a easy install anyway. I didn't do so well with the set up. I did manage to set the clock. Not really sure about all the rest. It's on the default program. I thought I had nice water before. I could tell if I was out of salt. This one ran through the cycle once as soon as I plugged it in. Awesome water!!! Way better than I ever had before! It's been great for two days in a row so far! LOL! P.S. The guy named Debbie that doesn't read the directions said it came with 1" and 3/4" adapters. Mine did not. Only 3/4". Good luck! ... show more
