  • Perfect for me, but consider your situation read on...
Style: Ducato/Jumper/Boxer
This was installed on my 2017 Ram promaster ( factory RV conversion). After comparing with the (Fiamma) brand, I felt this was better constructed. Plus I got an extra special deal by getting an Amazon opened box return (lucky me) saving me big $$. Very sturdy and secure feeling, great quality. No wobble or shaking. I carry an old fashioned hardtail (and kinda heavy) mountain bike. I did modify the wheel tray supports to only carry one bike (one tray, now in between the original locations for the two bike trays. I did this to get more clearance for my wide handlebars) as my road bike rides inside, always. I could easily reinstall both wheel trays for two bikes. Perhaps the only real complaint was having to shell out $20 more for the required fancy automotive grade adhesive for the horizontal clamping/ mounting bars, and only needing 1/3 of a tube at best. Why can't Thule include a small tube? Yes, it's a semi permanent install. I figure it won't fit on much else so it will just live on the back of the RV forever. It folds up unobtrusively and sits high on the door so following motorists can't ignore it when parking behind me. That height could be an issue for short people with equally heavy bikes. But the alternative is a hitch mount. And when I considered the cost and wobble and issues with blocking the door and needing to swing the loaded rack down or over to get the back door open I went with this. I can still easily open the RV back door with the bike loaded from either in or outside tye RV. That was important to me, since that's the emergency escape as well as for times when I am using the shower at the back and standing on the ground. 4,000 miles in, a bunch of gravel washboard road included, no faults. So far so good, would buy it again. No fake review, no dog in the fight. In fact, I'm really a Yakima guy with tons of rackage from them and I was disappointed they don't make something comparable. ... show more

  • Not Great For Current Bikes or Most People
Style: Sprinter/Crafter
While I can't say that everything is due to Thule and the rack itself I can say the rack doesn't work well with most modern bikes without contact issues. We bought a RV with the rack already "installed" and after several attempts at loading bikes on it, it was in the highest position and I'm "only" 5' 11.5", we couldn't get bikes on and secured from the ground, it's a RAM Promaster for reference which has a low load height. After attempting to move the bike to a lower mounting point, and contacting Thule for support we realized it wasn't possible as it had been assembled wrong, maybe? We went back to the RV dealer and they removed one from another van that had it on the lowest setting. At that setting we still couldn't get the bikes on without contact, 760mm bar width on both the DJ and MTB. Upon trying to remove the rack and possibly use the mounts for something else we realized the support brackets were not secure and have caused scratches on the door, specifically the lower mount. With all these issues we decided it was easier to use a hitch mount even though it requires removing the bikes to open the door, at least for now while we await a Kuat High/Low Mount bolt to try. ... show more

  • Solid Rack but Difficult to Mount Bikes
Style: Sprinter/Crafter
I'm quite happy with the delivery as it was timely and everything in good order. Assembly is not difficult but pictorial instructions are not done well. The rack is solid and bikes are held firm. The biggest issue I have is the rack is so high on my Sprinter van that I need a ladder or platform to get the bikes up and to secure the braces to the frames. The key locks are very difficult to reach. I bought a rear step mounted in the trailer hitch so I have something to step on, but it is still difficult. Also, with the bikes off and the rack folded up, the lower bike rail is perfectly located to mash the back of my head when I close the back door while standing on the ground. Even though I know this, I have still forgotten a couple time and smashed my head. There is no way my wife could get the bikes on or off due to the height. This is with the rack at the lowest location of the three positions shown in the installation manual. It seems Thule could have provided a lower mounting position and I expect better from Thule. ... show more

  • Great all-around bike rack
Style: Sprinter/Crafter
Really happy with this rack. Install was straight-forward, bikes are rock-solid and it's great the rack folds up when not in use. I have carried everything from two full suspension MTBs to 20"-wheeled kids bikes. The arms can be mounted a number of ways to carry bikes of different styles. (We posted an install video on YouTube under 'ourkaravan.' that you may find helpful.) Pros: competitive in price compared to swing-away hitch racks and other options; solid/secure--no rocking like a hitch rack; bikes out of harm's way from other vehicles; bikes higher up = less road grime; bikes and trays swing with the rear door; in Europe I've seen ski attachments on these racks Cons: On a high roof Sprinter, a small stool may be required; 77-lb weight rating may not work with e-bikes; right side door can only swing 90-degrees, not 270; adapts to many bikes but takes some time initially to configure Overall, it's hard to beat this. ... show more

  • Damaged my bike paint and my van body.
Style: Sprinter/Crafter
I have a 2019 trek roscoe 8 which sits on the rack the majority of the time I have owned the bike and the rack. The handle bars of the bike hit the opposing van door when closing the door with the bike on it which has caused a small dent over time. Also the design of the rack clamps do not work well for bikes with an angled top tube. This has caused me to overtighten the clamps to get a good fit and has damaged my bike paint. ... show more

  • Missing pieces!!
Style: Sprinter/Crafter
3 major pieces were missing when I received this item and it was a huge and heavy box to return. Not cool.
