  • Does the job, just wish it didn't cause damage to my car's paint job.
Style: 2-bike Color: Black
I've used this carrier about 4 times now. The trips I take it on are about 3 hours away and I drive on state highways and interstates. The good - it works as described. Not going to lie, the set-up was fairly easy, despite the poorly translated instruction sheet. My bike has never fallen off during my trips. The straps are sturdy and hold up under pressure. An annoyance (to me): So, to ensure the rack does indeed stay in place and hold your bike in place, you have to place the 2 side straps along the edges of your trunk and you have to tighten the heck out of them. If you don't and drive over 45 mph, the side strap will come loose and rattle, making a God awful noise. So, making them SO tight, you can imagine what happens. The metal edges of these side straps (and actually the top ones as well) will end up grinding a bit and takes paint off your car's paint job on the edges of the trunk. Not a huge deal, I'll just have to get some touch-up paint -- but it's annoying. I may experiment supergluing a thin layer of foam on the metal end of the straps to see if that helps. Overall, it does what it says it will do and it's not hard to put on and take off. Just be aware that it will chip off some paint on your trunk area where the straps attach. This is being used on a 2022 Toyota Corolla, a car this IS listed as compatible with. Again, it works great and I'm glad my bike survives the trips I take it on. ... show more

  • Great value
Style: 3-bike Color: Black
This bike rack worked really well. I had to buy some rubber mat things for the hooks (you can see them in the picture with the bikes on it) because I didn't want them to scratch my car. Combined with those, this is a great bike rack! Once you understand how it goes on the car, it only takes a few minutes and can be done solo. The straps can get nice and tight and it felt super sturdy on my car. Of course there was some wobble action happening while I drove, but it held up really well and the straps didn't loosen. There's no locking feature or anything, but for a road trip or going camping, it's perfect. ... show more

  • Impressed with Quality for such a reasonable price
Style: 2-bike Color: Black
My son and I installed this on his 2009 Dodge Journey. I was impressed with the sturdiness and quality of the product for less than $40. We bought it so he could take his bike to college and it did great for an almost 7 hour drive at interstate highway speeds. It does take some strength to set the pins in for first use (I'm not sure that I could have done it myself), but my 20 yr old son was able to. The only other thing to mention is that when you hit a bump or cross railroad tracks, it may make your "gate open" dashlight flash/beep. other than that, we had zero issues. for the price, i was extremely impressed and have no hesitation about recommending to others. Would definitely purchase again! ... show more

  • Good for local trips
Style: 2-bike Color: Black
Bought this several months ago. Works great for local trips, haven't used it for any long trips. It will scratch unless you put padding under the hooks. Easy to put together and put on the car. The straps that hold the bike in can be hard to thread thru the holes. Two of the four work great, the other two not so much. Figure it is a manufacturing issue. For the price this is a great bike rack. ... show more

  • For $35 bucks, this is the most bang for your buck!!!
Style: 2-bike Color: Black
I've never heard of Allen brand. This is my first bike rack ever. In the past I would just take the front tire off and jam the bike in the back seat. I was skeptical for $35 bucks! The instructions were in Spanish. Of course. I'll figure it out. Out of the box I slowly unfurled it. ultimately I got it installed. Some of the straps seem like they won't hold so I wrapped any excess nylon strap around itself to make sure it wouldn't slip off the trunk. Then I lightly tied the front tire so the handlebars wouldn't swing in the wind, and tied the blue rope around the frame just to be safe. I figured if it didn't hold and the bike started to fall I'd have the time to pull over. But I made it home fine... ... show more

  • Great Bike Rack, takes some time to setup.
Style: 2-bike Color: Black
Got this to put on the back of a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis (fits well). The unboxing and setup was definitely not a "5 minute setup" like the box claims. The metal rods on both sides need to be pulled onto the other side of the frame, which the instructions nor the Allen tutorial video demsonstrate well, I had to look at a third-party review to figure out the metal rods need to be pulled. When I say pulled, you really gotta use all of your man power to move those metal rods to the other side... try not to pinch yourself either... Other than the setup being difficult, the bike rack works as intended. I did need to get the adapter bar for my bike for it to latch on properly. The bike fits very securely and I'm fairly confident in it not falling off. Drove it on roads up to 55mph and it held in fine. I was able to hook on the hooks to divits inside the trunk frame, and tightened them all the way up. When tightening the top, make sure to tighten them at the same time or else if you tighten one too much and one too less the bike rack won't be exactly centered. Great bike rack for the price! ... show more

  • Actually works - and very sturdy!
Style: 3-bike Color: Black
We tried to install this on our 2007 Honda Pilot. You have to go to the manufacturer’s website to learn that this does NOT work on a 2007 Pilot (fun fact, it hangs most of its weight on the top, and the ‘07 Pilot doesn’t have a metal edge to hang it on - it’s hard plastic that is flimsy). We opted to install this on our 2010 Honda Accord instead, and this fit like a glove. Once we installed it properly, it didn’t move at all. I was nervous most of the first drive, but went to the coast and had zero movement and zero problems carrying three bikes there and back. I do recommend this, but I second the other complaints. Amazon should actually post on their website which vehicles this is and is not compatible with. ... show more

  • Tighten, tighten, then tighten again
Style: 2-bike Color: Black
It works pretty good, but has some trouble fitting my medium sized bike, ended up being unable to strap one side down as it was too tight on the bars. When installing it, be sure to tighten each strap, then re-tighten them, then finally secure it in place with a knot. You'll find that as you lock one steap down other straps start to feel loose, so save yourself the trouble of undoing it 4 times. Also, be sure to focus on installing it with the bars extending out mostly horizontal from your vehicle. ... show more
