  • These are fantastic! Super easy to install!
Style: Use without Cross Bar
I am so glad I bought these instead of the traditional kayak mounts - super easy to install & hold the kayak securely, even for a long trip. They are made well, of sturdy material & makes the job much easier. The only improvement would be to include a rubber mat that hangs over the back of the vehicle so it doesnt get scratched from loading/unloading...but a yoga mat works just as well. 10/10 recommend! ... show more

  • Does a decent job, but very noisy without roof rack.
Style: Use without Cross Bar
+ very affordable + for the job of securing and transporting kayaks, it performed quite well. Our 12ft kayak felt really secure and stable during our brief test of 20min high way drive. + Easy installation. It takes some time to wrap things around, but it was fairly effortless. - However, if your car has no side bar or rack on the roof, you will need to pass the belt through the windows. This caused a significant problem of wind noise leaking through the window, especially on highways. For me the noise would have been unbearable if I plan to use it for a 30min+ drive. ... show more

  • Worked like a charm
Style: Use without Cross Bar
There was a huge selection of soft surfboard racks to choose from. I chose this one to transport my SUP on my small vehicle. The surfboard/SUP racks were fairly easy to install. Since I was transport ing a SUP not a kayak, I did not anchor the cords provided to the hood of my vehicle. My SUP did not move during transport. It is important to note that I have only used this system once and that was during rush hour and I mainly took surface streets. Also, although it was recommended to twist the tie down straps, I did not as I was just happy to have tied them down and secured my SUP in place. That being said, there was a loud humming noise from the straps. The humming noise would start at 25 mph (yes, 25 mph) and continue when I increased speed to 45 mph max. The humming noise was annoying but considering that I was able to transport my SUP safely and I have a way to transport it anytime I want, this purchase was worth it. Maybe on my next trip I will twist the straps to see if that helps minimize/cancel the noise. ... show more

  • YES YES YES!!! -- Exactly what I needed
Style: Use without Cross Bar
I own a 2021 Tesla Model 3. I did not want to install a permanent roof rack but needed someway to haul my Kayak. I found these on Amazon and thought I'd give them a shot. These worked without issue. They were very easy to install and I drove 4 hours with my kayak on my roof, it didn't budge. The only problem I had at all was that my windows did not seal at the top completely after putting these on. The straps go to the inside of the car. That might bother some, but for me it was ok. With that said, it did cause some window noise with the wind on the interstate. Not a huge issue, and thankfully it was dry. Could be a problem if it was raining. Worked for me though. Awesome produce! INcluded a storage bag too which I thought was nice. ... show more

  • Happy to found this

Easy to install and did the job. Like what others say, unstrap if not used so water will not get in the car.

  • They’re Grrrrrrrrrrr - Alright!
Style: Use without Cross Bar
I’ll be brutally honest, it is odd having the straps go through the cab of the car but they totally get in the way of my position in my seat. I am tall and kept hitting them. The kayak started to rattle a little at about 45 miles per hour until I realized I put it all together wrong. I wish there was instructions with it. Finally got it figured out and it seems to be ok now. I like the fact I can drive to the lake with my Cruze instead of borrowing my roommates suv ... show more

  • Short trip solution for one
Style: Use without Cross Bar
The title is my opinion. I will have a use for this item but, let me tell you about my experience yesterday. I had already mounted the pads on my 2019 Colorado to see how they fit. I knew the straps ran through the vehicle but the whole thing only cost like 73 with tax so I could accept that. Before you buy this ask yourself if you are ok with the straps going around the roof onto your door gaskets and touching portions of your headliner. Next if your vehicle has Onstar or similar, note the placement of the antennae. Mine is right in the middle of the rear portion of the cab so if your not ok with item you are carrying pushing against it, this product may not be for you. Placement of the first kayak was easy enough and the straps that hold it down join the others running around the roof through the door opening , and clamping to themselves. The noise that ensued from my particular vehicle/ watercraft combo was extremely loud inside the cab. I read others who claim adjustments may be necessary to minimize noise. If you don’t wish to try repeated adjustments to minimize noise, this product may not be for you. Next I got to the location of the second kayak and attempted to add it to the top of my vehicle. There was no way it was going to fit side by side and I figured the liability of trying to stack them would not be worth the risk. In the end, I put everything on my utility trailer and left the rack at home. All of this being said, I think this product will be useful for my paddle board, as I can inflate it at home, and put it on the top of my truck with my kayaks in the back (with the tool box removed). I’m also just a few miles from the water. For the money: If you have a vehicle that you aren’t scared of leaving a few small marks on If you don’t mind a little wind/ strap noise If it’s not a long trip If you’re going by yourself If you own a car and roof carry is the only way this may be the ticket. The material seems to be decent quality and should stay that way as long as you don’t leave it exposed to the sun. ... show more

  • It works, and it's cheaper than real cross bars.
Style: Use without Cross Bar
I have a 13.8 ft kayak, that weights about 65lbs. These soft-racks have been used for long drives (5+ hours) and for short drives through rain. In every case this product has performed excatly as it should, it kept my kayak on the roof of my car securely. The first time you use it, the tie-downs will not have been fully stretched, so tie down the boat and leave it for a few minutes. Then come back, check and tighten if necessary. The quality is decent, the foam is not too soft and the tie-downs are great. Used it on car with glass roof and on car with normal roof. No issues at all. I also used it on a 2 door car as the door gave me enough space to place them apart according to the instructions. I carried a 13.8 ft kayak on a coupe! ... show more
