  • Sturdy and reliable
Size: One Size
Advisement to all buyers of the Thule BSTK2 Bike Stacker (and its brother SportsRack): This is good sturdy rack, which can hold an electric bike at 90lbs [on the bottom rack only], but here are easy steps to make your rack safe. #1) Purchase 4 individual [2" c-clamps] (approx.$2 each) and use each one to clamp each rack arm to the uprights, as this will absolutely prevent the rack arms from poping off the uprights while your bike is high or low on the rack. #2) Have an old, used or new innertube (approx.x 2.0 in diameter)? Cut off about 12" for each rack arm; put about 1/2 teaspoon of non-oily lotion inside one end of the opening, and carefully slide the innertube sleeve over the rack arm (use patience and elbo grease). I have 2 mountain bikes and 2 electric bikes, and none would fit properly on the racks with the plastic sliders. So I removed the plastic sliders (which came with the rack) and put the used innertube sleeves on the rack arms. With a dab of Pam (teflon cooking spray on a cloth) wiped on top of the new sleeves, the bikes are 100% easier to mount, adjust, and remove. You shouldnt use "green slime" innertubes unless they are thoroughly cleaned, the lotion will eventually dry and allow the sleeves to properly grip the arms and stay in place.( Maybe Thule should include the c-clamps with their racks for safety reasons.) #3) Do a reasonable approximate measurement of where the rack arms will fit thru your bike and then adjust the arms with a tape measure or ruler (this is much easier for mounting heavier bikes). The c-clamps will keep your adjustments locked in placed and your bike safe from falling off or being damaged. The rack is also good for removing tires or wheels, make shifter adjustments, and general maintainance a whole lot easier. ... show more

  • Oops … my mistake!
Size: One Size
I wrote a previous review that stated when delivered the package did not include hardware for assembly. It was my mistake as the hardware was black and I did not see it initially.. good solid product!

  • Not suitable for bike cleaning
Size: One Size
Good storage rack, but only OK for one heavy eBike on the bottom and one lighter bike above. Also, awkward for cleaning a chain or other basic maintenance. No problems as a storage rack, though. I’m pleased.

  • Good rack, some parts are not level out of the box, but it stays up with bikes fine.
Size: One Size
Purchased this rack last week and overall am fairly happy with it and it has not fallen over yet. For the installation, it was a lot less complicated then say Ikea furniture, but make sure you have a socket set around as it will make the install go quicker (no tools included). During the assembly I found that the feet on the bottom where not drilled straight or the feet's bolt where not straight, as it took a bit to get one or two of them in. Outside that it only took about 15 minutes to get together and bikes on it. Once assembled I did find that the center and top car are not exactly level (if you have the level perpendicular on them). This was really confusing at first as the bottom was level meaning it was not the floor, but figured it out after testing a few other locations. Furthermore the rack does have a little ability to twist once put together, but it takes a lot to do that and really should not effect its stability. Overall fairly happy but I might add some straps to secure it to the wall studs just for piece of mind. With 2 x $3000+ road bikes on it, I really don't want to take to many chances regardless of sturdy the product is. ... show more

  • Vertical storage is accomplished, but design is wanting for the price.
Size: One Size
Generally I like Thule products, but I almost regret buying this one. Seems vertical bike storage options are hard to come by, so I heedlessly bought this one based on brand reputation, although I was wincing at the price and doubtful given the lack of product photos. I should have read more reviews! I see now that several people pointed out some of the poor design choices. I too can vouch for them, with some observations of my own: 1. Storage arms are "secured" with a metal bolt that screws directly onto the painted frame which cannot help being marred (see photo). As someone suggested, 1-2" spaced threaded holes should have been used, like the legs of a work bench. For $200, it is shameful that this was not done. 2. Upper frame is not attached to lower (also shown in photo). It simply slides on, and the middle cross-bar that is so obvious to grab for lifting will pull the frame apart. This is a practical joke design. Not my kind of humor. 3. Assembly is straight forward, but the initial marriage of the lower frame, lower cross-bar, and legs is a pain. All need to be put together at once as you screw the bolt through the leg, frame, and into the threaded cross-bar. Not an easy one person job if you are lacking a vise, clamps, or some other means to hold the pieces together. In the end, the bikes are stacked as advertised. But for the price Thule should have done better. If it were easier to re-box and return I probably would. Still might, but I will give it a week. ... show more

  • Thule is far superior to the competition!
Size: One Size
Repeat purchase of this product for my 2 Bianchi and 2 Specialized bikes. If you are an avid cyclist, you will know the weight of high end C2C & B4P Bianchi bikes, so the bikestacker is plenty strong. However, with high end or any bikes, you don't want the rack damaging the finish. No problem. There are attachable 'cups' which holds the frames in place. Specialized bikes are little heavier; 'CruX' comp & Stumpjumper, but the Thule stacker is plenty strong to hold them. Frame of the Stumpjumper is odd shaped geometry, but the arms of the bikestacker can be manipulated to fit the frame. I have a 3rd Bianchi which sits on a trainer in front of the bikes. Mentioning this, because the 'cups' are flexible enough to pull bike on the bottom of the rack easily forwards or backwards, to condense space. Bikes hang off the floor, in my bedroom, for easy vacuuming. Racks move easily anyhow, regardless of weight of the cycles. Prior to this 2nd purchase, I had a different brand rack, which didn't last long. ... show more
