Description

Well-ventilated outdoor jacket for long mountain treks in varying terrain, when freedom of movement is just as important as durability, protection from sharp stones, etc. Combines wind and water resistant G-1000 Eco made from recycled polyester and organic cotton in the hood, shoulders, front panel and rear extension with stretch across the back and in the sleeves and pockets. Carefully thought-out details offer a good fit, like extra fabric under the sleeves for enhanced mobility and seams that have been moved forward so as not to rub under a backpack's hip belt. The advanced storm hood can be adjusted to sit perfectly around the head. The visor has brass wire sewn into it so it can be folded back, depending on whether you want maximum protection or more peripheral visibility. Ventilation openings under the sleeves with two-way zippers release excess heat. Two vertical breast pockets with an inner mesh pocket for a mobile telephone, for example. One pocket potentially for GPS on the left sleeve. A two-way zipper is hidden behind a protective flap with buttons at the top and bottom. Drawstring at the hem and Velcro sleeve cuffs.

  • If Chuck Norris were a hiking jacket, he would be this one
Fjallraven makes great outdoor gear, that's all there is to it. I love this jacket, but a few items to note if you are considering one: 1. The torso and arms are generous, so it fits more like a "tall" size. Love it for me, but that may not be good news for you depending on your preference. 2. This jacket will resist drizzle, but it is not a rain jacket. The G-1000 material on the hood, shoulders, lower sleeves, and lower torso can be easily treated with Greenland wax and can be highly water resistant; however, the other panels are a much stretchier material. I treat the G-1000 with wax, then treat the stretchy panels with Nikwax or Cabela's waterproofing spray. It will do great in anything but a sustained downpour. 3. The hood is substantial. This is great news for wind and the elements, but can take a little getting used to. Depending on how it adjusted, it can be configured to be a limited-vision tunnel that stands well out in front of your face. Fortunately, it is highly adjustable, including the ingenious use of a flexible wire inside the front of the hood that can be shaped. 4. The jacket is a little lighter weight than it appears. It's no warmer than a standard soft-shell, but far more durable and functional. The jacket has a trim but not slim fit, so room for layering underneath. I have received so many compliments on this item! It really stands out in a good way. ... show more

  • Other reviewer stole my headline from other fjallraven reviews and has exceptional grammar, therefore he's a paid reviewer.
The other reviewer stole some key points about my other fjallraven reviews and this time he even stole my headline. For that reason I believe he is actually a paid reviewer and I will counter his review. In his review he mentions key features in a positive manner. Those features are true to the product, however, the jacket is not insulated in any way whatsoever. Its basically a durable shirt. Also, the entire back of the jacket is not G-1000 material, which is nothing more than tightly woven polyester by the way, but the parts that are not G-1000 are a thin spandex material that you would see common underwear made of. Its about as thick as underwear too. The jacket is very well tailored and has nifty designs in places that make it a really good jacket. But in conclusion, the materials its made out of is just low frequency polyester and a thin layer at that. It is not water resistant at all. I have the entire Keb outfit. Its good for wind protection but in rain it soaks up water like a sandman. This jacket is NOT worth anything more than 180$ in the market compared to other jackets made with the same amount of material. That being said, if you're willing to pay the price like I did, thats your personal right. ... show more
