works as planned
brilliant. like yubikey but a whole lot cheaper. solid software for setup and just works would be nice to turn the light off or lower the brightness - otherwise it does the job

Works Across Devices Without the Passkey Shuffle
I've been using this FIDO2 security key for authentication, and one of the things I really appreciate is how easily it works across devices. I registered a login with the key and was able to use it to sign in to a website on my desktop. When I wanted to access the same website on my phone, I simply unplugged the key from my desktop, plugged it into my phone, and logged in. No QR codes to scan, no additional setup, and no hoops to jump through. Both my desktop and phone have USB-C ports, so I was able to use the key's native connector on each. It also includes an adapter for devices that need a different connection. The only real inconvenience is having to physically move the key between devices. That's inherent to using a hardware security key, though, rather than a problem with this particular product. Overall, it does exactly what I wanted: provides a straightforward way to authenticate across devices without relying on complicated cross-device login procedures. It's small, simple, and has worked well for my use case. ... show more

Perfectly adequate hardware, but not exceptional; Apps need UI/UX improvements, but usable for me
These Thetis Nano-C security keys have been a reasonable option for me, especially since I have several devices to use with keys and wanted to keep costs more reasonable compared to some of Thetis's competition. The keys function as expected. No hardware issues at all. Fully compatible with every device I've tried them with - Windows PC, Macs, iPhone. My big gripe with Thetis is the software/apps and how clunky the whole hardware MFA stuff still is. The software has not developed to be inclusive for non-nerds. I'm pretty capable with tech, but just because I can do some things the hard ways doesn't mean I want to, and that applies for the Thetis software - I can definitely make it all work, but it feels like it's much more difficult to use than it needs to be. And, I think it would be reasonable to offer a slightly less secure option for those of us who don't have a high risk but who still want better security than the inadequate 2FA methods like SMS. A big one is that there's no easy way to create duplicate keys without repeating the setup process for each key on each account. It's already clunky enough to set up on the various accounts, so I wish at least the keys were easier. But, even with that, I'm still pretty content with my decision to stick with Thetis. I'm up to 8 hardware MFA keys because of the number of devices I use regularly as well as needing to ensure I have sufficient backup keys, including being able to keep a couple offsite in case of catastrophic loss. A minor gripe with these Nano-C keys are that they stick out a bit more than I'd like. It's manageable, but I don't love it for my laptops. For my desktops it's plenty adequate and the key stays neatly out of the way to where I can just leave it plugged in, but I'm not as confident with leaving it plugged into the laptop so as to avoid damaging the port or the key. And, since I remove them from the laptops, I may as well use the bigger keys for it so they're easier to keep track of and have more features, like the Thetis Pro keys I have that has NFC, USB-C, and USB-A. But, again, I consider the larger size to only be a minor gripe. Completely manageable and, in my opinion, worth living with at this price point. ... show more

A small and cute Thetis security key
The Thetis Nano-C Security Key is the smallest Thetis device I have had the pleasure of testing and might become my new daily driver. In comparison with previous security keys I have tested from them, the only downgrade with the size is L1 MFA instead of L2 on the Pro-C. The Regular Pro was also L1 and I had no issue pairing that model to all my accounts and devices so the trade off for the size is quite good in my eyes. The Nano-C also includes a nice little keychain hook so you can carry it around with you everywhere, and the build quality is very compact and durable. Just like all their other devices, the Thetis itself is very easy to use and setup, being that you just have to plug it in, then open up the security key section of your device/app and assign the key to it. Thetis is compatible with practically every service I use, being google, windows, linux, amazon, and ebay to name a few, and I have had no security issues with any of them post using security keys. I can safely say this is a great small footprint option into the security key world. ... show more

Small, portable 2FA hardware security
I'm happy with these small, very portable USB C security keys from Thetis. The Nano-C model uses a USB C connector to plug into your phone or computer, but can work through a USB C to A adapter if needed. There is a touch sensor on the plastic end of the key for when you're prompted to physically press a button. The LED shows its connected and powered too. This key is very small and portable, even compared to other Thetis models (some of which also have NFC capabilities). The small size can be helpful if this is something you keep on a keyring or perhaps connected to your laptop and want to avoid accidentally hitting it and damaging your USB port. I've been working to incorporate better hardware security with my most important online accounts and these hardware keys are a better way to go than 2FA text messages, in my opinion. I will admit that the mix of operating systems and different versions of security key interactions is tricky to keep up with. Having a 2 pack of the same type of key helps with maintaining a backup or allows you to deploy the same type of hardware security key with your partner. I was a bit surprised to find, during Windows setup, that my initial attempt at setting a PIN was rejected, only to find that I needed a 6 digit or more PIN. The requirements should be laid out more clearly. Otherwise, I've been happy to use this key to secure my bit warden password manager. ... show more

Cannot get this to setup
I have no idea how to set this thing up. The videos are totally useless. I tried Gmail and ended up setting up Google Authenticator 2FA because the instructions are not clear. It appears you need two devices. The instructions are not clear. How can you scan a QR code from a device that shows you the QR code? Then I looked at the Amazon setup, and it mentions a type 4 letter code. What is that all about? This is just horrible. I do not even know if this thing works. ... show more

Thetis USBC Security Key
These are not the first Thetis brand security keys I have gotten and I am happy to report that these are just as high quality as every other key I have used from them. So far, I have used these with my Android phone and also with my Windows PC- these are completely compatible with both of those systems from what I can tell. I really like how convenient these are when using with my phone. I no longer have to carry a USB to USBC adapter in order for my key to work. Unfortunately, I don't have any way to test with Mac or iOS compatibility though. As for price and value, these are definitely competitive with other brands from what I have seen. That being said, I do think the price of these security keys need to be lowered across the board. I really don't understand what makes them all so expensive. I would highly recommend these security keys for anyone who does any type of sensitive online account management. This would be things like banking, password managers, etc. These keys make me feel so much more secure and safe from having my information stolen and my accounts hacked. The small and convenient size makes these very easy to put just about anywhere- I keep mine in my wallet! Although the small size can make them easy to lose. All things considered, I am happy with my purchase of Thetis' USBC security keys. They are a worthwhile and reasonable addition to anyone's online security. ... show more

Another great (but tiny) Thetis key.
I have six of these Thetis keys (different models). They are a highly versatile authentication tool designed for users who need to secure accounts across a wide range of hardware. This one in particular is USB-C only. Unlike a few of my others, these are FIDO2 Level 1 only. Depending on your use case, you might opt for one of their FIDO2 L2 keys. They run roughly the same price for a single one. For work, I use one of two desktop computers or a laptop, depending on how I feel that day. Having these makes signing into everything so much easier. Not to mention they are small (and I mean tiny) and can easily fit on a keychain. One of the main reasons I got my first one is that I'm trying to get away from having a smartphone, but different authenticator app keep me tethered. One of these sticks takes care of everything I need except Okta. That is one of the reason I gave it four stars. The other is the software. I have found it really hard to use and the documentation and instructions on their site about how to use it and get things set up is lacking. Or else I'm not finding everything I need. Some things link to an external site for configuration information, adding to the confusion. Granted, I'm not as up on technology as I was when I was younger, so it's possibly a me problem. Either way, once you get everything set up, it's pretty much smooth sailing. Getting there though.... not fun. Also, I'd recommend two of these. It's a really good idea to have a backup in case something happens so you can still access everything. Most Thetis keys run around $30 per key, which for me is a good investment for the added layer of security and convenience. I would love to get a hold of a YubiKey, if nothing else than to compare the software, but most of those models, especially USB-C ones, go for much more than a comparable Thetis key. In the end, if you want security and convenience, this is a good option. Only downsides for me are the software and the lack of Okta support. (I could be wrong, but I don't believe that is a Thetis issue, but an Okta one.) ... show more
