I'm updating my review because now it's #1 for #1. My cats ignored this box for over a month. I was ready to de-commission. I wrote a review that was honest and true - and only two stars. Now that they're using it, I'll do the same. This has GREAT waste draw capacity which makes it ideal for multiple cats. It's very, very quiet. I still can't really speak to odor because there were two other boxes in the house - one with an odor issue. But it appears to be low odor, too. It's the perfect size for a tight space and was relatively inexpensive as self cleaners go. My other self-cleaner is heavy and bulky. I wanted one where the litter dropped and was self contained and this answers that need. It is so nice to just pull that waste drawer and dump the bag. That makes it SO much easier to clean. After months of ignoring this machine, one night they just kept climbing in this box - with multiple messages telling me "cat in". I am now decommissioning the manual box. For two cats we're down to two boxes. I'll buy another self-cleaner. Suddenly this is her box - although in his show of dominance, he'll use it. He still mostly uses the old self-cleaner exclusively. But this new box seems to be mostly her. So, be patient. Let a manual box get good and dirty if they don't like that (some cats don't care) and remember, cats really are very odd creatures. One word of advice. It is not as effective if the litter level drops below the minimum so keep that litter level up. I'm adding more updates. This box is perfect for anyone who might struggle with the bulk and the weight of the $400+ models. Compared to my other rotating drum box it is tons easier to clean and so lightweight. I don't think they emphasize that enough. It's quiet and as of now, odor free with gel packs that really keep that odor at bay. And the waste draw - which is the major reason I bought this - makes it so much easier to change the bags. I went on a long holiday with my other self-cleaning litterbox and the petsitter didn't change the bag properly. What a mess! But was easy to see how it might happen. This drawer is idiot proof. I'm going to buy a second one if the male cat will use it more. For reference: he's almost 10 lbs and she's almost 9lb.

The machine works as described, but it is on the smaller size. My 22-pound mini panther like guy just fits. Assembly was easy and the instructions are understandable and easy to follow. Pet friendly - My cats use it--that is what matters. They also like to sit and just watch the drum rotate. Their tv?? The disposal drawer, if full, will stop the machine from doing a full rotation and then the light will blink at you until you change the bag (which is Easy). After changing, the rotation will finish. I have gotten accustomed to the time period needed to change the bag in the drawer, which holds a lot, so now only a few times of flashing lights Safety - I have seen a paw reaching out and touching the drum stopping the rotation. I have seen a bag dropped into the machine while rotating stop the machine. SAFE! I do scoop the litter once or twice a week to get the SMALL pieces that escape thru the separating bar out of the litter area. The large pieces/piles drop into the disposal pan without problem. The front of the litter area could be a little higher. A few of my fur babies like to MOVE the litter around a lot, so the litter comes out the front. But it falls on the litter mat, and I just dump it back into the machine. Odor depends on your litter. The air freshener that comes in the kit does help. It nice that I don't have to pick up or bend over a litter pan to clean it. Just change the disposal drawer and add litter, plus wipe the sides to clean any spots.

The unit worked great for a few months and a month for it stopped recognizing when I can’t left so it never turns over to dump out waste. That removes the whole purpose of a smart enabled device.

The shipment came in super fast and it's well packed. Getting this Open-Top automatic litter box is for one of my cats which is gigantic size. Honestly, this make my life much easier, I had problem with the close up one every time when I change or refill the cat litter, but this is super easy, just simple pouring the litter in from the wide open space. Although it's wide open, I don't smell any unwanted scents from the machine, great odor control. With the user friendly apps, I can setup all my preferences to keep check of my cats weight. Especially likes the litter mat which placed under the cat litter, it's waterproof and scratch proof, I can just take it out and wash it when I change cat litter. Overall, me and my cats like this automatic litter box, it's easy to use, easy to clean, and super efficient.

Even though it is for XXL cats, the part where they sit is still kind of small. I am trying to get my cat to start using it by not cleaning his old box, but he is a big boy so I believe he is struggling finding a comfortable way to go to the bathroom. Good quality, I think it will do a fine job masking the smell with the deodorant and the way the pan is snug underneath. Easy to setup and use, and I cant speak to cleaning because I am 2 weeks in and he has only played with it lol.

The best thing I ever purchased! If you're thinking about getting one definitely get this! I have two cats and they never had a problem getting used to it it is silent. The app is a little confusing but figured it out pretty quick. Easy setup easy use I do have to wipe it down once a day but not having to deal with cat litter everyday I'll gladly wipe it down. I couldn't really find a way that my cat could get harmed in the process of using this even if they were just curious and looking around while it was moving.All the gears are covered up so they can't get pinched.
