  • Does what it promises in its name!
Size: up to 10-gallons
I bought three of these when they were at an incredibly low price. They have been running non-stop for the last 5 months now. I couldn't be more pleased with them. They truly are whisper quiet! I was also pleasantly surprised that it came with a valve, which I had not expected. One less item to purchase. I can't hear the pump itself, only the bubbles coming up. Now, having said that, you need to pay a little bit of attention to where you place it. Sometimes, if the pump or the airline touches something, such as a wall or the stand, then you may here the vibration of it. However, I have found that if I play around with the placement a little bit, that "issues" is easily fixed! As soon as they go on sale again, I am going to buy more. For more tanks AND for an older AeroGarden that I have, in which the water pump died. An airstone inside the AeroGarden will suffice for my purposes. So I am very happy with these can honestly highly recommend them. ... show more

  • Works flawlessly
Size: up to 10-gallons
I recently purchased the Tetra Whisper Corded Electric Air Pump for my aquarium, and I am quite pleased with its performance and ease of use. This air pump is designed to provide reliable and efficient aeration for aquariums, and it lives up to its promises. The first thing that impressed me about this air pump is its simplicity. It is incredibly easy to set up and use. The corded design eliminates the need for batteries, providing a consistent and reliable source of air for the aquarium. The plug-and-play functionality makes it convenient to start using right away. The Tetra Whisper Air Pump operates quietly, living up to its name. The minimal noise level ensures a peaceful and tranquil environment for both the fish and the aquarium owner. This is particularly important for those who have the aquarium in a living room or bedroom where excessive noise could be disruptive. The performance of this air pump is excellent. It generates a strong and consistent airflow, effectively aerating the water and providing essential oxygen to the aquatic inhabitants. The adjustable air flow control allows me to customize the aeration according to the specific needs of my aquarium. Durability is a standout feature of the Tetra Whisper Air Pump. It is made from high-quality materials and feels robust and long-lasting. It has held up well over time and has not shown any signs of diminished performance. This is important as a reliable air pump is crucial for the overall health and well-being of the aquarium ecosystem. One thing to consider is that this particular model of the Tetra Whisper Air Pump is non-UL, meaning it doesn’t carry a UL (Underwriters Laboratories) certification. While it meets the necessary safety standards, some aquarium owners may prefer an air pump with UL certification for added peace of mind. Overall, the Tetra Whisper Corded Electric Air Pump is a reliable and easy-to-use solution for aquarium aeration. Its simplicity, quiet operation, strong performance, and durability make it a great choice for aquarium enthusiasts. I highly recommend this air pump for anyone looking to enhance the oxygenation and overall health of their aquarium. ... show more

  • Amazing price!!!
Size: up to 10-gallons
A little loud and shaky. But I guess that’s what an air pump is meant to do? Idk I’ve never owned an air pump before this one before. What really annoyed me was that it didn’t come with any airline tubing or check valves (I had to buy those separately) but that’s probably my fault for not reading the fine print before purchasing this air pump. But when attached to my great filter from Amazon, it works miracles!!!! I guess I’ll keep it, it suits my temporary 3 gallon tank well. It’s sturdy. Looks kind of funny but it’s otherwise not a bad air pump for what it’s worth. Amazing price here on Amazon, because in PetSmart they’d charge you like $13 for it. ... show more

  • Quiet and efficient.
Size: up to 10-gallons
I got the 10-gallon air pump for my ten-gallon tank. I conatched it to a sponge filter, those work very well, and all has been fine. My only complaint is that it doesn't have two air holes. I would like to get a one-gallon tank, so I can get a betta, but the 40-to-60-gallon pump is probably too powerful for a ten- and one-gallon tank. I have one comet goldfish, his name is Chosen, and three silver minnows. They are called Merry, Pippin, and Sam. I guess I'll have to buy another ten-gallon pump. Great for one tank! ... show more

  • Efficient long lasting pump.
Size: up to 10-gallons
I have keep aquarium tanks for years as a hobby. I have gone through many of these Tetra pumps. They seem to last longer and are quieter that similarly priced pumps. I like how they now include an air adjustment valve with the pump, so if you are using the pump for only one device, you do not need to by a gang valve. I recommend this pump. ... show more

  • Can’t beat the price
Size: 40-60-gallon
This is a well-known brand, and the price was amazing. I purchased the largest one to run an airstone in a 25 gallon freshwater aquarium, and I read that airstones need a certain number of watts. This model pump has two outlets, but I wanted both of them to power the airstone so used one of the fittings that came with the pump to route both outlets to a single tube that powers the stone. That does a great job - just what I needed. I am deducting one star because once every day or three, one of the tubes connecting to the pump comes out, which stops the airflow. I have to keep an eye out for that and reattach the air tubing. ... show more

  • Good value
Size: up to 10-gallons
This air pump is not like the aquarium air pumps of the old days, where there's a thick rubber piece along the bottom to minimize vibration but would still hum or even move across a surface. The noise would always get worse over time, and then you could replace internal parts to extend the life. This new design is sleek, and the actual pump is on little legs, no more thick rubber bumper, and somehow it has very little vibration. I have no idea if the diagram or replaceable internal parts are any different than the old design. Overall, this pump is a little big larger than the old pumps, but since they solved the old design issues (which plagued all brands using the old design), the small size difference is really no big deal. The pump itself is also not an eyesore, so you don’t feel the need to make sure it's hidden from view. It's easy to clean off if it gets dusty since it's smooth, without unnecessary ridges. The output seems equivalent to most pumps of this size, or what I expected it to be, and consistent with the rating on the package. Lastly, the price point is low enough where there is no reason not to just take a chance and try it out! I recommend. ... show more

  • Great air pumps
Size: 20-40-gallon
Tetra Whisper Easy to Use Air Pump for Aquariums (Non-UL) ~ 20 - 40 gallon ~ AKA Whisper 40 Upgrading from my long running Whisper 10 to a 40 as I'm adding a sponge filter to the mix. And my 10 which is still going strong will be kicked down to a 5.5 gallon tank for quarantine or fry. New one seems just like the old one just a little more powerful which is exactly what I hoped. I find these style Tetra pumps to be kind of a gold standard because in my experience they're quite reliable and long lasting, maybe not the quietest on the planet but not loud at all, and very well powered for the price, which is very reasonable. And they've been around for quite a while and sold in a lot of places so they've got consistency down. You can get a quieter pump but will pay a whole lot more for an actually long lasting one with the same power, and I find these Tetras to be reasonably quiet. Unless you're really critical or sensitive to a low hum I don't even notice from across the room. And you can find cheaper pumps, or ones in the same price range with a 2nd output or adjustable flow, but they are usually under-powered or disposable junk. These Tetras are just all around good solid basic air pumps. And I can just split or regulate my lines. I do wish they would stick to listing these as "Whisper 40" or whatever like it says on the pumps or a standard model number like "AP-40" instead of this gallon range nonsense. The original numbers were always implied gallon ratings anyway but this range thing being the main naming distinction just muddies the waters of what we're all used to. I'd say 20 - 40 gallon is a fair ballpark range for a Whisper 40 but there's enough variables that could easily throw that off that it doesn't make sense for the main naming distinction. If all you want is a single little air stone a Whisper 10 would likely be all you need up to 30 or possibly more gallons. Definitely for a 20 long which isn't that deep. And if you had a 10 gallon tank with a sponge filter or bubble wall plus some other bubble feature you would definitely benefit from going up to a Whisper 40. Implying gallons it in the model number is fine, at least we know the models, getting rid of model numbers so the pump doesn't even have a name any more, just a range of questionable accuracy is stupid in my opinion. Plus it's just a nuisance taking something that's been around long enough that tons of people know the standard numbers, not to mention it's mentioned that way all over the internet anyone new to the hobby will find, and now have to decipher what this range nonsense is. I come knowing I wanted a 40 and see 20-40, 40-60, etc, and I'm like what? I know now the max number is the one that corresponds to the old standard number but it's just stupid. The one I got says Whisper 40 on the bottom of the pump as I would expect but that's not in this listing anywhere. Why? And you could still list the suggested gallon range in the description or on the box somewhere, just put a standard non-changing number on the box and anywhere there's product selection online so we can know the model without playing games. ... show more

  • Quiet Enough for a Bedside Tank
Size: up to 10-gallons
It's a good pump at an unbelievably low price. It's about as quiet as you're going to find. I've got this running a 5.5 gallon on a bedside table. The pump sits on the carpeted floor which helps dampen the sound, but altogether, it's quiet enough. You can't go wrong with this pump at this price.

  • Not the best, but not the worst either.
Size: 20-40-gallon
I’ve bought this brand pump several times over the course of many years, and it’s a pretty reliable pump, but they never stay quiet for long. I have it running 2 small sponge filters, and the flow is great, but this time it’s buzzing much more quickly than any I’ve purchased previously. It’s driving my kinda crazy despite setting it on some foam to help damper the sound. Due to the price though, I’ll probably just order another one once this one poops out. Of all the ones at this price point, I still think this one is the go to. ... show more
