The Tetra® Maintenance Bucket is a great tool to easily clean aquariums. The 4-gallon bucket is the perfect size for aquariums up to 10 gallons. It makes monthly water changes easy! For a 10-gallon aquarium, remove 30 percent or 3 gallons of water using a gravel siphon by placing the larger end of the siphon inside the aquarium and the smaller end of the tube inside the bucket. The Tetra Maintenance Bucket comes with volume level markings on the bucket, so you never have to guess how much water you’re removing! The hard, plastic bucket has a handle for easy carrying to dispose of waste water.

What's not to like - it's a big, bold very sturdy and strong hard plastic bucket with a nice attached metal handle that holds almost 4 gallons (bottom says 3 1/2). It measures almost 11" high and about 12" across. Does not have a lid. Perfect for the aquarium thing, and also for any other job around the house that may need that assistance. Actually, we're done with the tropical fish era in our lives, but couldn't resist having such a perfect container for those other odd jobs. The one that comes to mind is our extra upright freezer in the garage that needs defrosting occasionally and requires a container for the chunks of ice removed. I have a 10 gallon tank and all sorts of buckets and equipments. But regular water change has not been happening... for all sorts of excuses that my water creatures probably find completely unacceptable. This Tetra bucket makes it one step simpler and it finally has started happening. I give it credit for that, since that’s all it needs to do. So I basically siphon water out til it hits that line inside the bucket, which is 3 gallons plus minus whatever, and fill it back up to that line, let it sit for a while and put it back it.     • Ok but its a WHITE bucket
I have always been content using my hardware store's 5 gallon bucket for cleaning my tanks and I admit I laughed when I saw this specially made bucket exists, but I figured why not give it a try. Well, there are definitely some advantages to using this particular bucket for fish needs. The first is that its very clearly labeled as for being for fish. I don't have to worry about my husband confusing my fish bucket (which I have marked with a sharpie, but it can be missed) for any of the other identical buckets we have lying around. This is important because you do not want to introduce chemicals to your tank environment, not even soap. The second is that its white. This means I can easily see what I am siphoning, which is huge if you have small fish that can be accidently sucked up, or in my case, small shrimp. Before I would have to wait for everything to settle, then use a strong flashlight to slowly scan the bucket to see if any shrimp went for a ride. With this white bucket, its so much easier to see what I have siphoned, even without waiting for the debris to settle. Its also very sturdy, I had zero issues hauling it around to water plants around my property. I can't speak to the gallon marker lines, they don't seem super accurate, but it honestly doesn't affect how I use the bucket in the slightest. ... show more

This bucket is very nice. It’s bigger than I thought it would be. It’s made from strong thick sturdy plastic. I like that it contains. I like that it contains step by step monthly maintenance tips on the side. This bucket is very handy to have for my fish tank and other things around the house such as my garden area. I got this tetra water maintenance bucket not only to do water changes but I also use it to water my plants because it is so heavy duty. It holds its form even with the water in it and holding it by the handle. I like that there are 1 and 2 gallon measurements on the outside of it as well. It is a little pricey for a bucket but the quality is there. ... show more

This is just a bucket but it is a good bucket. The bucket itself is made from plastic but the handle is made with metal. The bucket can be use for anything and not just for water. It is more an all purpose bucket than just for aquarium maintenance.

I have a 36 gallon aquarium, so water changes usually involve moving several gallons of water between the aquarium and my kitchen sink. This bucket is large, so I can make fewer trips, while not being so big that it doesn't fit in my sink.
