  • Best upgrade ever, Super Fast. Bought a second one for my Mac Mini 2014 comments.
Style: Movement Capacity: 1TB
3111 read 2961 write. Open in windows after POST. Less than 5 seconds. I upgraded an Intel 600P. It is a new computer at an affordable price. And it has a life of 1,660 TBW. With my usage that is over 100 years. This is the best bang for buck upgrade I have ever done. Very competitive price. Mac Mini 2014 comments: I was so impressed with this drive in my Gigabyte Z170/Intel 6600 K computer that I decided to replace the NVMe drive in my Mac Mini. The main reason was the 1660 TBW spec. I read the question "Will this work for an early 2015 MacBook Pro 13” ?" The answer left me thinking it wouldn't work in a Mac. But with closer of the answer "Unfortunately Apple uses a different interface that is similar but different from m.2." I realized that they were talking about the connector. Amazon sells an adapter for Mac NVMe replacement: "M.2 NVME SSD Convert Adapter, 12+16pin M.2 NGFF M-Key SSD Convert Card for MacBook Air Pro Retina Mid 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017, NVME AHCI SSD Upgraded Kit for A1465 A1466 A1398 A1502". In the questions section for this adapter they said it would also work for my Mac Mini. I purchased the adaptor and a second M8FP4001T0C101. I installed it. When I powered it back on a message came up that the drive could not be read with a question "how did I want to proceed?" One of the answers was ignore. I then went Disk Utility. The drive was listed so I right clicked on the Disk Name and Mac OS asked me if I wanted to repair the disk. I clicked repair and bingo the drive was recognized. I erased it with an APFS volume format request and the drive worked. I restored the new drive from my back up. It works perfectly. There are limitations for the Mini because it only has two PCIe lanes and is limited to 5.0 GT/s. But I get 747 MBs write and 743 MBs read. This is a marked improvement from the 80 MBs stock HDD. Totally Satisfied! ... show more

  • DRIVER UPATE MAY BE REQUIRED
Style: Modern Capacity: 2TB
TL;DR: If the drive doesn't show up, or won't initialize due to "fatal hardware error", you might need a driver update. Google search "Jmicron JMS-583 NVMe/USB 3.1 Controller firmware Version 0.2.0.9" One of the first results is a website, Station-Drivers, that has an easy-to-install driver update. Full story: After checking Amazon reviews, finding nothing, returning the first non-functional drive, waiting a couple days for a replacement, getting the same error on two different computers, spending hours troubleshooting, running chkdisk, fdisk, wmic, rebooting, and trying various motherboards, buying USB adapters, and struggling with Windows Update (which did NOT update my NVMe drivers...) I finally tried manually downloading a couple of drivers for things listed in Device Manager. One of them, the Jmicron JMS-583 NVMe/USB 3.1 Controller firmware Version 0.2.0.9, fixed my issue. I just wanted to share that here for anyone else who might have this problem. It is very possible that Windows Update will NOT give you the driver you need, if any, so just Google search the controller firmware I listed above and download/install it. Quick and easy, to get you back to managing your files. :) As for reviewing the drive itself, it is performing excellently now. I've attached a screenshot of CrystalDiskMark 8.0.1 testing over a USB 3.0 or "3.2 Gen 1" (5 Gbps) port. This drive will do close to 1,000 MBps in a 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) port, and even better in a PCIe Gen 3 x4 M.2 slot. (As always, pay attention to MB vs Mb, as there are 8 bits in 1 Byte. Otherwise these speeds might seem less impressive than they actually are!) ... show more

  • update
Style: Movement Capacity: 512GB
I'll update later if the drive fails, but as of right now this is some good bang for the buck. MP34 500GB. Getting very good temps (is somewhat in air flow from CPU fan, in an uncluttered case) 27c idle and CrystalMark pushed it to 51c, might order a heatsink for the heck of it because why not. Speeds are good, particularly the read speed (read exceeded advertised speed) write speed is still good, especially for the price and compared to my Samsung SSD. EDIT: Write speeds have diminished approximately 75 percent after 11 months from purchase date. Going to go with another brand. ... show more

  • Fast, high capacity NVMe M.2 card with a 5yr. warranty (!)?
Style: Pro Capacity: 2TB
I am impressed with this card. It has been benchmarked by me using Passmark software on the new(ish) Acer Aspire 3 A315-56-594W laptop. The benchmark scores were both over 22.1k, which is even better than the 256gb Samsung SM961 Polaris M.2 PCI-e 3.0 x 4 NVMe installed on my desktop, (which scores avg. 21.3k; (with multiple tests, however.) Regardless, this is a relative newcomer to the NGFF SSD market and, it's affordably priced, high performance and has a 5 year warranty. For performance, capacity and price, it can't be beat! ... show more

  • Blistering fast drive
Style: Movement Capacity: 1TB
Needed more storage for my laptop and this drive replaced a Samsung 970 Evo 500GB drive. Very impressed with the performance on offer, exceeding the quoted read speed and with some impressive write speeds to boot. As a big plus it seem to be a pretty well balanced drive with solid performance across a wide range of applications. It also works just fine with Ubuntu Linux. Very good value for the price I paid for this drive. ... show more
