I am impressed with this card. It has been benchmarked by me using Passmark software on the new(ish) Acer Aspire 3 A315-56-594W laptop. The benchmark scores were both over 22.1k, which is even better than the 256gb Samsung SM961 Polaris M.2 PCI-e 3.0 x 4 NVMe installed on my desktop, (which scores avg. 21.3k; (with multiple tests, however.) Regardless, this is a relative newcomer to the NGFF SSD market and, it's affordably priced, high performance and has a 5 year warranty. A single-sided 2tb TLC drive with an endurance of 1,000 TBW for about $170 when I bought it. What's not to like? Easy install in my ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 and now I've got all the room I could need.   • Total scam and ALWAYS! a dishonest manufacturer (Updated)

The story is over the time, I bought two TeamGroup NVME drives. Most recently MP34 and previously MP33 PRO. TeamGroup did BAIT-AND-SWITCH scam on BOTH of them. Please see the details below. *** Updated Review of MP34: In a word, the controller is changed to garbage RTS5762 (BUT!!!! with a scaled-down DRAM) or another newer garbage RTS5766 or another garbage from Realtek. The FlashID shows a firmware version of RL6447 and HMB enabled. Although HMB enabled commonly means there is no DRAM, there is actually a DRAM of 128MB onboard, which ONLY helps the benchmark speed! Yes, there ARE customized firmware supporting such kind of cheating. The only not-bad thing is it uses Hynix 128L TLC not QLC, which is still as described. 1. With this cheating firmware, if you do CrystalDiskMark or other famous benchmark (ATTO), it will use the 128MB DRAM and show MUCH better score ONLY in benchmark. Like in CDM, I got 2.7GBps reading and 1.9GBps writing. HOWEVER, this is still much less than the stated 3.5G and 2.9G. To tell you the truth, this is already well beyond its actual score. 2. Like most of the other NVME drives, this also uses SLC cache to speed up writing when there are enough room. However, the real-world copy speed INSIDE the cache is less than 1.3GBps, which is only 2/3 of benchmark speed. 3. If you want to backup your drive and keep copying file to it, the SLC cache will be eaten up eventually, when the TLC will be directly written to. The speed of "native" writing is less than 250MBps, actually varying between 150MB and 250MB, which is even less than HDD nowadays. 4. The firmware even cheats the temperature reading of SMART info. During the test, the temperature reported in SMART was never more than 45C. However, the real temperature of heatsink (after-market, not provided by TeamGroup) taken by my temperature gun is over 70C. I would get burnt touching it, if I didn't read the temperature first. After I saw the above behavior, I immediately start a return. DON'T believe any online reviews stating that MP34 uses Phison E12, which is much better than any Realtek ones. E12 can not only achieve the stated 3.5GBps and 2.9GBps speed, but also write into native TLC with a speed of 1.1-1.2GBps outside of SLC cache. If I could, I would give 0 star to this garbage AGAIN! *** Original Review of MP33 PRO: In a word, the controller is changed to garbage RTS5763DL with worst logic firmware, not Phison PS5013-E13 anymore in public site reviews. Details: I bought this from the official seller TEAMGROUP Inc. instead of any 3rd party sellers, so the product is genuine and new from factory store. I bought MP33"PRO" version and actually paid extra bucks for the "PRO". "PRO" is the mid-class product which should be better than NON-PRO version, but it's NOT. I understand it's reasonable to change to another part due to current supply chain issues, but at least producing a similar level alternative. Every review site is claiming that a Phison PS5013-E13 (E13 for short) is used (at least by the sample sent by TeamGroup), which is a very good budget dramless performer. The theoretical speed of E13 can achieve the claimed speed of MP33PRO by TeamGroup, and the write speed after cache used up is well beyond HDD speed. BUT RTS5763DL is even not on par with the second lowest level SMI2263XT, which is supposed to be used on MP33 (NON-PRO). It has much less write speed of 1500MBps, namely 1475 (when cache is not used up), which is much less than the claimed write speed of MP33PRO by TeamGroup. It means definitely false advertising. Further test on this sample I got proves this is garbage: So first, TeamGroup uses a quite aggressive write logic in RTS5763DL, which is all disk SLC cache to cheat the novice customers. Those who feel the driver is speedy also need to know that they are using up the NAND flash life 4 times than normal. No matter how much space is left, this aggressive logic will first eat up all of them to simulate a SLC cache of 1/3 space (causing 2 extra times of wear) and slowly free them later (causing another extra time of wear). E13 only have tens of GB FIXED SLC cache to speed up things reasonably without hitting a big blow to NAND life. Secondly, not only it eats up more life, the speed of writing out of SLC cache is also totally unacceptable. The highest speed pike is 180MB/s for a very short time and the lowest is 13~14MB/s, resulting an average of less than 100MB/s. I bought TLC instead of QLC because I don't want QLC speed, but final speed is half of QLC? You must be kidding. I believe this slow speed is mostly contributed by the needs of freeing up SLC cache. This is even less than HDD speed! Thirdly, the excessive heat it generates also contributes to the low speed. Normally, a lower speed nvme should generate less heat, but it certainly doesn't apply here. Don't know how Teamgroup can achieve 75C during such slow speed writing in my full tower case with sufficient air flow. My other two nvme rarely go above 60C during write extensive job. If I could, I would give 0 star to this garbage false "mid-level" scam and dishonest TeamGroup. ... show more
