The screen arrived as advertised and in perfect condition. We were looking for privacy and wind block around our hot tub. The screen materials are high quality. The installation package worked well and was easy to install to our wood deck. We have used the screen in winds around 10-15mph. We don't sit in tub when winds are higher than that. Like a sun umbrella, the screens are good in moderate wind. As for privacy, the material used for the sides blocks views. The anchor poles are solid and do not appear to be bending or cracking. We have had up for a few weeks and used often. The retraction feature has been spot on for us. We do walk the side into the center pole. I have noticed others reporting problems with retraction feature. I wonder if this is because they do not walk side back toward center pole? I did not assume I could just let go of end of screen and expect it to retract all by itself. Overall, highly recommend seller and product. We are considering buying a second unit for another deck we have. ... show more

I bought this to block the sun on my deck. If you are not particularly handy, like us, the directions leave a bit to be desired. I had my handyman install this for us, but it was a quick job. Because of the way ours is being used, the main support side had to have the heavy-duty anchors put into our house, and the post it pulls over to was screwed down onto deck flooring. It needs to be lined up accurately for easy usage. So far, it is serving its purpose well, keeping my deck cooler when it’s pulled across and is attractive as well. Guests this weekend were impressed with this product. It seems to be of good quality, heavy duty. I will say, it also blocks the breeze, not a concern for me, but some might. ... show more

UPDATE: 06/30/20: still in use on an elevated deck. Left it out (retracted) all (northeast US) winter and NO PROBLEMS. We've been using it for all of May/June (with 1 windy storm on an elevated deck) and still extremely happy with this purchase! OVERALL: I'm very happy with this product. As a privacy screen, it's excellent. INSTALLATION: Installing was a bit of a pain, but overall not too difficult. I had to purchase extra long lag bolts to attach it to the side of my house. The hardware provided may not work for your situation. But after the trip to the store, installation was pretty easy. I've noticed some people have commented that the aluminum frame column--the one that attaches to the deck / ground / floor-- was not level, but I think this is on purpose. I think it adds needed tilt the top part to of the screen, increasing the tautness of the fabric, which will luff otherwise. Regardless of the tilt in the aluminum column (not the retractable column) , the column on mine was going to be out of wack due to deck warping. Unfortunately my installer (my son) decided to make our aluminum column perfectly level and so our fabric luffs a little. Not enough to bother me at all, but it would look nicer if the top portion was pulled a little more taut. PROS: Super happy with the privacy and how easy it is to pull out and retract the screen. An unexpected added bonus was needed shade from the morning sun. I'd like to see one that could go around a corner and then attach to a column - I could probably rig something like that myself. Hmmm... CONS: I'd prefer if it didn't block so much wind--I know that's one of it's primary purposes, but I prefer the breeze-need it actually. It would be better with more hardware options - but that's also pretty wasteful, so not sure how big of a con this is. This product has been installed and in use for 2 months and 2 windy storms on an elevated deck at the time of this review. ... show more

No installation instructions! I didn't realize I would need clearance for the handle since I have 4x4 posts that extend the entire way up for a cage to brace shade sails. I plan to add a spacer where I have it circled on the post to allow for room for the handle then add a champ to secure the top of the post to the 4x4 to prevent it from bowing inward from the stress of the extended shade. The 4 bolts on the bottom of the post don't provide enough support when the shade is fully extended... A big wind could be problematic. I plan to always store it closed or remove the shade from the two brackets to store indoors. The quality of the shade looks a little thin... We'll see how it holds up over time! Also, I suggest that you take care in winding the shade back up as there is a lot of spring tension so it could easily wind up uneven if you aren't careful! ... show more

Best money we've spent for a privacy screen. We purchased the charcoal ( very dark) and ended up going back to for the sand color - a nice sandy beige - and the slightly taller version. My husband easily installed in a less than an hour (he is a handy guy - and had everything we needed). It opens and closes so easily. So, if a super strong wind comes up, super easy to roll it up. Honestly, it's just a terrific privacy screen. Quality material. Looks like a lot more than it cost. Having said all of that, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. ... show more

Arrived with no installation hardware and there was no damage to the box that would've allowed it to fall out. Contacted the manufacturer as directed in the instructions and got a quick reply. They fell just short of requesting my first born child in order for them to rectify the situation. It was far easier and quicker for me to go to Menards and buy my own hardware. I did so and installation was easy. The screen itself seems well-built but it has yet to be tested by the frequent strong wind in our area. We bought it more for privacy anyway. ... show more

    • Great privacy screen with horrible bolts for attachment

We have a screened patio that needed some privacy and wind protection on one side. This screen is perfect for that. So far, it is a great addition to our patio with ease of use and works as expected. Now for the “not so good”.. the hardware supplied with it to attach it to the floor is pathetic in quality and foolishly I thought they would be ok to use. After drilling the correct size holes for the plugs and putting those in, the bolts were ratcheted in down and FIVE bolts broke before even coming tight. The low quality of these bolts is stunning when looking at the nice quality of the shades. Buy the shades by all means, but DO NOT USE THE SUPPLIED HARDWARE. Spare yourself a huge headache and get quality bolts. Even the washers are too thin and small for the purpose. ... show more
