    • Good sound quality with a few issues
Overall this is a very nice microphone, with good sound quality and easy installation. It's basically plug and play, and on my Windows 10 laptop, it identified the correct driver. However, I have a few issues that dropped ONE STAR from the ratings: 1) The Blue LED is very bright and distracting, especially when the MIC is oriented correctly, the LED shines directly into your eyes. 2) The volume control is not needed, as 'most' ZOOM, GoToMeeting apps, allow for adjusting mic level or the use of the AUTO level controls adjusts the sound level for you automatically, and with different voice intensity, the AUTO function works best on the application you are using. 3) The MIC is fairly big and bulky, and you speak into the SIDE not top. 4) The suppled tripod mount is handy and held the mic firmly on my desk. 5) I found the supplied USB cable very heavy and stiff. A thinner more compliant cable would be better. Overall, a nice mic for Zoom or Voice over IP phone calls. ... show more

My 13 and 9 year old daughters have recently gotten into video editing. They were, previously, using just the built-in mic to record audio for videos, or even using an iPad. Often many of their videos require voiceovers, so getting a better quality mic was something we had wanted to do. This one was simply plug and play with our iMac running Mac OS X Big-Sur. They plugged in the included USB-A connector, and then went to system preferences > sound > input and selected the USB mic that appeared. They utilized a program called Audio Hijack to do their recordings on our Mac, and then have imported it into Black Magic's DaVinci for editing. I'm no audiophile, like some in my family, but this mic was a huge upgrade over what they were doing. You could immediately tell the difference when they'd play their newly recorded audio back. Gone were the echos and humming they'd often have before. It sounds much more crisp. While it's, obviously, not a mic that costs hundreds, this has worked great for our kids video needs. It would have been nice if it included a case. It does fold up nicely, and includes the foam cover, but my girls have found that keeping it in the box is the best place to keep it while not in use. ... show more

    • pretty good, but the app matters
I tested this mic out on several different applications using a Windows 10 PC. I found that the quality of sound I got from it varied based on the app so I'd recommend changing apps if you get a bad outcome. Using an online recorder designed to test mics, I got very clear and good quality sound, though not as good as more high end equipment (which is to be expected). For Skype, I got rather "wobbly" sound which had some level of distortion, but not enough to impede understanding. Zoom was somewhat better than Skype, though not as good as the online recorder that I tested it with. The mic worked well with plug and play and was recognized almost immediately by the OS. I could set it as my default mic in the system and any app I tried it with without adding any other software. The stand that it comes with is stable and it's easy to reposition it. In terms of the hardware controls, I found that leaving the volume setting on the side around the mid-point worked best and provided the least distortion. It also worked fine with noise reduction software settings in the apps I tried it in so it is compatible with that as well. All in all, this is a pretty decent mic, but I'm not sure if it's the best quality for the price point so value is an issue. However, I was satisfied with the performance it gave and it was much better than some other USB mics that I've had. ... show more

Ok, let me say this. I’ve gone through many mics in my time, we do You Tube, and I’m going to start on more pod casts, like what I did years back. For the price, this is a bit better than ‘OK’, hence the 3.5 star rating, but for under 1/2 the price I got another mic that is literally ALMOST as impressive, sound quality wise. So is it worth the extra money? That’s the million dollar question. Do your research and shop around a bit before commiting, as I was very shocked at the low price of the other, but in being fair to THIS product in and of itself, which I am rating now, I’m rounding my 3.5 stars up to 4 stars by choice, because the quality is good.. the sound is very good, the price isn’t crazy, had I not known about anything else, but it doesn’t come with a storage case, which would be nice at this price point. Just my personal opinion. It will surely get the job done, and it sits up well, and looks quite nice for the price, so aesthetics, quality, value for what you get, is between the 3.5-4 star mark. Again, I’m choosing to round up, not down. I don’t think you will be disappointed, I just happened to have had a prior, phenomenal deal.     • Great for Zoom Meetings
Ordered this for my Wife who spends eight or more hours a week on Zoom meetings. I have a friend who's a teacher and on a fun zoom call I noticed how much better his audio was as he had a desktop mic. This Talk Works is a large desktop mic and having a powered capsule condenser it should add clarity the tiny Notebook mic takes away. It worked as thought making much less strain to listeners and can be located out of he viewing frame so you don't look like a Podcaster. She has it in front of the notebook but to her side. Works better than expected off direct axis. The product feels and handles like a good design. Not to heavy and not so light you tip it with a slight bump. The tripod is self enclosed and folds out positively locking in place. Ships with a nice USB cable and a slip-over foam pop filter. I'd recommend this to anyone Zooming to enhance the audio for the listeners benefit. For the cost and quality - Five Stars it is. ... show more
